Been a while and i have AS2 file which loads a .xml file. It works but not all the time. Without changing anything just refreshing the browser i get a undefined in the textfields. How can i make sure the xml is loaded?

Using a script for an mp3 player. Desktop testing, movie shows 'undefined' message. I use the original xml file and all is well. I replace one of the defined urls in the original xml with one of my own - undefined shows up. I've checked syntax, typos - none. I've checked my mp3 links - show up fine online.

I am in the middle of making an xml driven menu. Each button has an image which loads from an external folder and 3 dynamic text fields. The content for the text fields is taken from an external XML file and I would also like the image to be defined in the XML file. The problem I am having is when I use the code attached below .I get the following error message; :
'Error opening URL
'file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/barry.gee/Desktop/undefined'
However when I manually enter the image url as commented out in the attached code the image loads fine.
i have tried to create a sakura petal falling using flash AS3 along with flash my codes always get error message "1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Sakura1." line 16, could anyone tell me why is that happen?

Trying to augment the Kirupa tutorial "ActionScript Text Animation" [URL] to take an external text file. When I switch out the line:

I get the word "undefined" repeatedly loading itself. The text file is properly formatted (text=dave's text here...) I've tried untold permutations to self-solve.
I made a website that does it alright on the internet on my PC, and I haven't heard any complaints from my client either, but a few hours ago I visited a friend and on his PC the website didn't work exactly as it should. So I wanted to ask all who reads this, to please have a look at this and tell me if you have the same problem or not.

When you're on the opening page you have to press the 1st button under the pics (the word = the link), then a centered flash pop-up appears with in the upper banner the buttons of the 4 different pages. In the Arabic "gate" there should always be a text scroller.
The problems were the following:
- - On some of the pages the text scroller didn't appear, or the scroller appeared but where the text should have been there was the word 'undefined'
- - On the "wat" page, there should be a horizontal picture slider behind that Arabic gate. On the PC of my friend only a few pictures appeared, making the gaps between the pics that were shown gigantic and with variable sizes (normally, with all the pics shown, the spaces between the pics are all the same width)
We've got some sample videos on our website and I'm using the default FLVPlayback so viewers can see them. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the video to begin playing and I was wondering if there was a way to put a message on the screen while it's loading that say something like "Please Wait While the Video Loads" and then have it disappear once it starts.
Right now the player window doesn't even show up until the video begins to play. The videos are .flv files that I have in a directory on our website and the FLVPlayback just references them.
In the attached file I created swf that loads thumbnails from an xml file while animating, for the most part it seems to work fine however when I let the animation loop through enough times the file eventual gitches and I no longer see the file load the xml images. If

View 6 RepliesNovice in actionscript and have a problem loading an html file combined with a css stylesheet into a dynamic text field. I have 2 pages... 1st page always loads correctly but second page all you see the text fields is "undefined". When I view local machine all is well until I load onto server and for the first page of my site all is well but for the second page I receive "undefined" in the dynamic text field... This only happens the first time. When I click through the different pages('undefined', 'undefined', 'undefined'..) and return to the previous ones the text suddenly is displayed correctly! I have read elsewhere that I need to wait for the LoadVars onload command to finnish but I am at a loss to fix this...

I know that there are alot of posts about loading external swf or links into the carousel. However the problem i am havng is when i click on a carousel icon it returns with an error in the output window saying;
Error opening URL "file:///F|/1.RYAN/Ass3/undefined"
now obviously this looks like a file path problem, but i have tried to fix this and it still returns the same message. I have also looked at how i called the xml file back and it seem to be ok.

i'm loading some data from an xml-file and dynamically create movieclips with textfields inside of them, but I'm kinda stuck. I'm not up to the point where I completely understand how you can refer to a nested object using this syntax: _root[movieClipName]. If you want to nest something inside of that movieclip, you have to work like this:

I've been working on some actionscript 3 system. And all of a sudden, it wouldn't execute anymore. When I pushed CTRL-Enter in Flash CS3, a white screen would open up (instead of the normal flash program) and no trace-output would be given.
Three hours later I found the cause of this weird problem.It's (simplified) the line:

Put this line in your script, and your entire program won't execute. And without any error message! I was wondering, why is that? By the way, the following lines do work[code]...

People without Flash however, don't see anything but my background color.
