ActionScript 2.0 :: Tabbed MP3 Player - Unload XML?

I have a mp3 player I am trying to make/modify for a website I am working on. It has three tabs for different CDs. Each tab is its own .swf file being loaded in with its own player. When you click on another tab it unloads the swf and loads a new one in. My problem is that some of the player's info is not being unloaded. If you swap tabs a couple times the progress bar will not work and things start to get a little quirky. How would I completely unload the files to make this work how it should? here is the live example [URL]
I'm having real problems with unloading external SWFs, I've spent 2 days looking for a solution and looking at this forum and using the code supplied and Flash help files and much much reading and trying, I still cannot achieve the desired results.I have a Menu.swf which hosts many buttons which loads External SWFs ... simple enough and fairly common.These External SWFs are the same size as the menu and so loads completely over the top of Menu.swf which is exactly what I want to happen.I have a button on these External SWFs which I want to, delete the External SWF from the Flash player's memory and remove all event listeners (which I guess will happen if the External SWF is deleted from memory)The reason why I want it to remove the movie completely from memory is that I have 18 items and by the time it loads the 18th item, the player is going slower then trying to swim in hummous.[code]
I have written a basic piece of code to load and unload different swfs, now on their own they're pretty smooth (opened independently) , but when you load and unload them a couple of times in the main fla, just like as a user would navigate through a website, it causes the whole flash player and the movies to slow down quite dramatically and looks very bad as if about to crash. Now i know this problem was reported in FP 9, but anyone else has encountered this in FP 10 as well ?

what I'm trying to make first, so: [URL] the big main box that shows the lastest stuff You can mouse over the small boxes and the content in the main box changes, and if you don't do anything, it goes through the different stories like a slideshow [URL] - like the ign box but hovering over it doesn't do anything, you have to click the button for the content to change So I'm trying to create a mix of the above two, like a slideshow but doesn't change when you mouseover, instead need to click it (see attached file).
What I've done so far is add the time interval, and created links on each page to each other, but if I click a link or let the slideshow run more than one loop it starts speeding up uncontrollably. I think I need to use clearInterval or something, but can't find any tutorials that actually make sense.
I need to have scrub thumbs for video player load and unload repeatedly. Something isn't getting cleared. Every time the thumbs are removed, there's a slight increase in the cpu baseline - something is piling up in memory.
My app has 3 categories of buttons, I want to have a tabbed panel I can use to switch between the 3 categories like in this example:
My app is a mobile app though so I can't use mx components. When I try searching for mobile tabbed navigation etc., I come up with only viewnavigator examples.
I followed this tutorial on making Tabbed Content with swapDepths, but mine isn't working quite right. When you click a tab the text and icon disappear behind the tab. So each tabbed page is an mc and there is a button for each tab that has this AS on it:

I have a project that has 4 views where I'm using the tabBar with viewStack/NavigatorContent. I have a couple HTTPServices set up gathering the XML and converting to Bindable ArrayCollections. When and how is the best way to pass that data to such things as charts, dataGrids, etc. that aren't seen until the user clicks a tab? Right now I have each item set up with creationComplete functions that pass it then. Although it seems to be working, is this the best way, or is there something better and maybe even quicker?
I am working on a Flex TabbedViewNavigatorApplication with three tabs (ViewNavigator elements). I would like to switch from one ViewNavigator to another based upon a user action (via ActionScript code).I know that switching between Views uses pushView and popView, but I'm working with ViewNavigators, and my searching revealed nothing useful.I'm trying to switch from Tab2 to Tab1 when an event occurs. In this case, Tab2 contains a list, and when the user makes a selection, I want to jump back to Tab1.
I need to prototype a tabbed interface in Flash, AS3. I was thinking of 3 MC buttons on my timeline (let's say there instance names are; tab1, tab2, tab3).
In theory I would have a respective MC (instance names; content1, content2, content3) for each tab and when the tab was clicked on, it's MC would appear below (i.e. tab1 was clicked and in result shows content1).
Any guidance as to how I would structure this in Flash I'm blanking on the code structure to get this working and can't use easy goto's on frame ids as once performed in AS2
I'm trying to set up a user interface with a tabbed panel design.I've set it up with 2 frames within a parent MC. Basically to switch between the panels, the playhead is moved between frame 1 and 2.The Actionscript that controls the buttons on both tabs (frames) is on the parent timeline. Problem is that when I switch to frame 2 and back, buttons that were working on frame 1 are no longer working. I figure that by going to frame 2 and back the instance name is 'forgotten' by the AS.I can fix this by simply putting the AS on each of the 2 frames, but was wondering if there was a more elegant way of doing this ie keeping all my AS in the parent timeline.
I am currently designing a website for a fiend and would like to make the content of the website tabbed. What I mean by this is I would like the visitors to click on a tab (e.g. Contact) and the tab would slide out with the appropriate information inside. Okay so that part is easy, the problem I am having is that when one tab slides out all of the tabs on layers below the contact layer get covered up. I would still like for all of the other tabs to be visible. I would like for all of the tabs to slide out as if they were behind all of the other tabs. The link is: [URL]
I am working on a school project that requires me to load external .swf or .jpg files. I currently have all of the buttons working and are loading an external .swf file on to the screen. The problem I am having is that when I go from one button to the next the loaded .swf stays on the screen and the next .swf gets loaded on top of it. I know that I need to unload the file but I am not sure where to put the code for the unload or what code exactly to use. I would like when the button is pressed to unload the previous loaded .swf and load the new .swf without having a separate button to unload.
I'm trying to unload an external SWF on _root to load a new one instead. I've tried (almost) everything but can't figure it out... I get this error : "Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties."
I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
I am trying to make the SIMPLEST POSSIBLE MP# player using the player component preinstalled in flash.It is very simple, the code is as follows:

I have a game that needs to send the number of points a player is awarding to another player to a MySQL database on the same server. This game is part of my psych MSc dissertation, and I've gotten a lot of help on this bit from my department techie who knows php and MySQL well. However, he has absolutely no experience with Flash or Actionscript. He's gotten the php bit working so that it does send data to the right table in the database when it's supposed to using dummy variables, but when we try to test it with the actual .swf thats supposed to be doing the sending, nothing happens. We're pretty sure this means theres something wrong with the actionscript, but we don't know where.
I have a slight problem when publishing to Flash Player 7 but works perfectly in Flash Player 6, below is the code:[code]In short this creates a list where the values are kept in SharedObject.I need to use a WebService so I require Flash Player 7, as I said this works as expected in Flash Player 6, so maybe someone may know a pitfall or two when migrating code form 6 to 7?
I am trying to put together a simple game and have been doing really well until I decided I am going to have to create a new class to handle enemies.What I have so far is a player walking around on random terrains and I am up to the point where I have placed x amount of enemies on stage at appropriate times. I have written their class which will hopefully eventually handle their behavior and it outputs simple trace("BOO!").
Where I face the problem is that I obviously would like to make these enemies follow the player to attack. But when I try to access the .x or .y attributes of the player, it throws an error: 'call to a possibly undefined property with static type Class'?I have tried accessing the .x using the following ways (where badger is my player instance and Main is my class definition within the properties of the FLA):
Main.badger.x Main(root).badger.x Stage.badger.x
I have also tried to access other vars and still nope..My class code is this:
I was re-using some old actionscript in a new fla. For some reason my scrollbar script didn't work correctly. After some debugging I found out the the maxscroll value was being returned as 2. Strange when there is only two lines of text in a 400px high textfield.
I published the same fla for flash player 7 in stead of 9 and the problem was gone??? Tried in 8 and there it was again. So something went wrong between Flash player 7 and 8, but what? Is this a known bug and are there any work arounds?
I want to dynamically load .swf file in a player(like FLV player of as3) in as3.When I shall click on an image the corresponding video will be played on the player on right side(like you tube). Is there something (like FLV player) for .swf files with play, pause, resume, scrubber options to play in web?
i think i might be missing some information here about how to manage classes and display objects. In the main .fla i have a mc called player; so I made a player.as class and put a linkage on player mc considering it would work as the mcs class. Well, its not working, the mclip is not noticing any of the vars and functions i added in the class. Anyone figures whats going on? How to make it work?
I can only find how to download the actual PLAYER for 10.1, but which library is used in conjunction with it?Will the latest release of the Flex SDK have the libraries for the multi-touch events etc?Or is the SDK for 10.1 only available to people who work for Adobe? will porting to iPhone supported formats only be available in Flash Professional, or will SDK users also have that option?
I've recently implemented in my engine is freeing the RAM for a level.It's something that's pretty essential seeing as I'll have thousands of polygons per level, and a pretty large amount of textures too per level, with an average of around 150 to 200 megs of RAM being used.This obviously needs to be cleared before the next level is loaded.The process is pretty simple really, just nullify all references to everything.On the offline SA player, this works perfectly. After pressing the clear button you see the RAM usage burning down, before it snaps to around 3.7.Online it simply doesn't work. Firefox's RAM usage on the plugin container basically doesn't change, but even Flash's internal reading of the RAM usage only changes a bit. It gets reduced by a couple of megs.URL...Press C to clear the engine. The RAM usage goes down by like a meg, to 10.3, which is hugely different to how much RAM is free'd on the SA player.I've tested it on Firefox and IE, the behaviour is the same on both.
