ActionScript 2.0 :: Textformatting - Make The Word Bold And Changes The Colour
Aug 28, 2007
I've been developing a piece of code that looks for keywords inbetween tags, and then stores these into an array (hlword) I am now trying to get it so that when it finds these words, it makes the word bold and changes the colour.
[Code]....
The code in orange is what I have been working on in an attempt for it to change the Textformat - Is this going a long the right lines?
I created a text editor in AS3 to administer a site online, but i have a problem when i select a word, put it in bold, save the text and load it, all the text after this word becomes bold too. Here is my code
I am doing drag-the-word quiz. When you match the word with correct part, the message pop out, saying Bingo! If the word is matched with wrong part, the "Sorry. Try Again" message pops out, says "Sorry. Try Again". I managed to make the "Sorry. Try Again" message disappear. However it dun work anymore after that. Sometimes it is quite funny. When I play it, the "Sorry. Try Again" message dun pop out at all.
Another problem - I am not sure how to make the word fit into the white box. I only know how to make the word drop on the white box. Can you tell me how to do it? I will be adding voiceovers to the quiz when the word is matched with the part. For e.g it will say "bingo" or "Sorry. Try Again". How to attach the voiceovers to it?
-Adobe CS3 Web Premium. -Compiling using AS3. I'm pulling in some text values from an external XML file for a "next" button and I set the font to bold when I made it Verdana. I'm not sure why but it still is normal verdana when I compile it.
I've found several posts similar to mine saying I need to embed the bold version of the font, but I don't have the option of purchasing or creating a bold Verdana. Since it is just Verdana, is there not a method I can use to simply bold the text?
I've got a strange glitch goign on in one of my flash files. I load a set of menu items from xml and format their text using TextFormat at the time of loading. This works great until I start jumping around in the timeline. Working forwards in time it maintains its formatting, but if I jump backwards at all, it loses its alignment and defaults to Left Side.
//create the function that will load the xml info into the dynamic menu text function CreateMenu(side_xml){ //makes the xml file easier to navigate
I have a dynamic text box for 3 lines of text. I styled part of the text to be bold and part of it to be regular. When i click on the button to display the text it looks right the first time but if i click on it a second time then all of the text shows up bold instead of just the few lines i assigned the bold tag to.
I've got an FLA which was originally created using CS3, and i've got a dynamic textfield in it that uses font "Gadget".If i open the FLA in CS3, it gives me option to toggle the BOLD option, and when i compile it, the font appears to be bold in the compiled swf.
When I open the same FLA in CS5 (version 11.0.2.489),
---> I don't get any option to make the font bold on the same textfield,
---> and when i compile it, the text remain the same, it does not show as bold.
Where's 'CS4' as a prefix to the post title? Anyway. I'm using _sans font for my flash work, because i want the font to display as the default _sans font on the device/platform. Why in CS4 (not checked earlier versions, but im sure CS3 didnt do this) is the (font) 'Style' drop down greyed out?
When creating mobile apps I thought the best practise was to use _sans font, so that the device uses its' native device font when the app runs (for dynamic text, anyhow...)? So, I use _sans font for my app. But why in CS3 could I make _sans font bold, but in CS4 I can't? Am I being stupid here....is there something obvious I'm missing? The 'style' box is greyed out in CS4.
In CS3, I could make _sans font bold. For some reason, in CS4 I can't and I'm not sure why?I'd like to use _sans so that the device my app runs on will use its native sans-serif font.To reproduce:
Create text box
Change font to _sans
Try and make font bold
I'm creating a Flash Lite app, so just to ensure it wasn't to do with that (or the device I'm creating it for) I created a normal Flash AS3.0 document and the bahaviour is exactly the same.I've emailled Adobe but no response.
TheProfileRoot.EngineeringText.text = "Level " + PlayerEngineerLevel + " Engineer - level up in " + PlayerReqEngineer + " xp"; I want the "Level " + PlayerEngineerLevel to be bold. And the rest to be plain.
I basically can't figure out how to make dynamic text Bold.I have a String that holds text which is passed to it from an XML file's attributes. (It is my understanding that you can't use CDATA <b> in an XML file's attributes. If I'm wrong, please show me how) I have a TextField which I want to display this string in BOLD text. I tried the following and it doesn't work.[code]
I thought it would be cool to try and make a translator/word muddler based on this pic: The user types some text into a textbox and it gets "translated" into another.I have no idea where to start. Maybe I need to use an array and put each letter in and then return them tin a different order? (I have never used an array before)
make a colour in game with flash? you know the one, its got a picture then you click on the colour you want then you click on the part of the image, and it fills in that part. a bit like the fill bucket tool in flash
I have been building a simple word game. It is smple but works fine. I am now trying to enhance some of the features.I would like to see if I can display one letter of each word so the Player has a hint. Think of this as a beginners level. The words are random from a text list. Either I can make the letters invisible and the game starts without a hint or I am able to select a letter using charAt() or creating a new variable substring()from the word which is the displayed repeatedly on the stage(not what I want) I have not been able to find a way to display one letter and display it in the correct order within the word and keep the remaining letters invisible.
I want to create a flash document that allows me to change the colous of an image using a colour palette of my own. I am a complete beginner and have no idea where to start this, hence i would need to know what to do and how to do it. I basically want the image to be a simple 2d image that i will create using different layers in photoshop and import them into flash, the layer images will all be one colour so the colour of the whole layer changes. so the colour palette will be on the side of this and when i click on an image and then a colour the image changes to the colour i clicked.
create the word which changing many time and in the end become a clear word like what's happend exactly in horizintal menu in [URL] That's what i wanted the changing in words like that menu?
In [URL], first off, how big is the dimensions of the site? Also, would you know how to make the menu bar, where the rectangle slides onto the word which the Mouse is over?
I have really complex flash animation thats severely obfuscated accross several layers and over 500 Symbols. Luckily the whole animation uses just two colours, all the way through. I need to find a way of swapping colours like this, so I can make all the red parts green, etc.
I am parsing colour codes that I get from a Flex(Flash ActionScript) application, then creating HTML div elements with that same colour. My Problem: The colours are all only 8 digits long. So they cant be RGB colour values can they? What color value format are they in? If I can figure the format they are in I can convert them to RGB. Maybe the last/first digit signifies its 0. alpha value?
PS: Should I convert the colours to RGB or something else?
This is an example of the colour code values I getting from the flash application:
I have a main FLA and when a button is cliked few swfs loads in to it. I need to get a fill colour applied to a object depending on whcih button is cliked.E.g. my_btn - click - loads my.swf & applies #333333 to "my_mc"I'd like to involve a MySQL db here since I'm loading some data with the same buttons' onPress command.
Ok so If I load a list of like 2000 words from a text file into a text box like this
ActionScript Code: var url:String = "dictionaries/"aa.txt"; var loadit:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loadit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
[Code]....
how could I randomly choose a word from the list and have it as a variable
i have a background and i want to be able to change the colours of it using a colour picker... if the MC was to cover the whole stage... how could i then get a colour picker and make it so it would change to whatever colour i wanted from the colour picker?
