I've got an FLA which was originally created using CS3, and i've got a dynamic textfield in it that uses font "Gadget".If i open the FLA in CS3, it gives me option to toggle the BOLD option, and when i compile it, the font appears to be bold in the compiled swf.
When I open the same FLA in CS5 (version 11.0.2.489),
---> I don't get any option to make the font bold on the same textfield,
---> and when i compile it, the text remain the same, it does not show as bold.
-Adobe CS3 Web Premium. -Compiling using AS3. I'm pulling in some text values from an external XML file for a "next" button and I set the font to bold when I made it Verdana. I'm not sure why but it still is normal verdana when I compile it.
I've found several posts similar to mine saying I need to embed the bold version of the font, but I don't have the option of purchasing or creating a bold Verdana. Since it is just Verdana, is there not a method I can use to simply bold the text?
I have a single dynamic textfield containing NON-HTML text meant to be displayed in a single typeface: Helvetica Neue - 75 Bold. When I author on a Windows installation, the font displays as Helvetica Roman. When I author on the Mac, the font displays correctly as the boldface version.
how to embed multiple weights of a typeface so you can use HTML markup to, say, mix bold, italic and roman text in the same textfield. This is about manually embedding a single font, Helvetica neue 75 Bold into a dynamic textfield using the Flash IDE and it not working on Windows.
I am trying to combine bold and regular text in a textfield but how do I embed an font family and not just a single style of a font?See example of how I embedded a font, you can only choose one style: "regular", "bold", "italic" or "bold italic" at once:However, when you try to embed the text (via the IDE settings or actionscript) how do you set the font to be the entire family?
I have an HTML string that uses bold and italic tags which I need to apply to a TextField. I need the font to be embedded though and I can't seem to find a way to do this. From what I've read it seems that Flash needs to use the actual bold/italic versions of the font rather than just changing it with HTML? In which case I can't do it all in one textfield because you can't change font? The only solution I found was a suggestion to use the [Embed()] method rather than the method I am using (embedding the font in a library symbol) but I don't think you can do that either with Flash CS3?
I have a dynamic text box for 3 lines of text. I styled part of the text to be bold and part of it to be regular. When i click on the button to display the text it looks right the first time but if i click on it a second time then all of the text shows up bold instead of just the few lines i assigned the bold tag to.
Where's 'CS4' as a prefix to the post title? Anyway. I'm using _sans font for my flash work, because i want the font to display as the default _sans font on the device/platform. Why in CS4 (not checked earlier versions, but im sure CS3 didnt do this) is the (font) 'Style' drop down greyed out?
When creating mobile apps I thought the best practise was to use _sans font, so that the device uses its' native device font when the app runs (for dynamic text, anyhow...)? So, I use _sans font for my app. But why in CS3 could I make _sans font bold, but in CS4 I can't? Am I being stupid here....is there something obvious I'm missing? The 'style' box is greyed out in CS4.
In CS3, I could make _sans font bold. For some reason, in CS4 I can't and I'm not sure why?I'd like to use _sans so that the device my app runs on will use its native sans-serif font.To reproduce:
Create text box
Change font to _sans
Try and make font bold
I'm creating a Flash Lite app, so just to ensure it wasn't to do with that (or the device I'm creating it for) I created a normal Flash AS3.0 document and the bahaviour is exactly the same.I've emailled Adobe but no response.
TheProfileRoot.EngineeringText.text = "Level " + PlayerEngineerLevel + " Engineer - level up in " + PlayerReqEngineer + " xp"; I want the "Level " + PlayerEngineerLevel to be bold. And the rest to be plain.
I basically can't figure out how to make dynamic text Bold.I have a String that holds text which is passed to it from an XML file's attributes. (It is my understanding that you can't use CDATA <b> in an XML file's attributes. If I'm wrong, please show me how) I have a TextField which I want to display this string in BOLD text. I tried the following and it doesn't work.[code]
I have two dynamic classic TextFields in a MovieClip, one with Arial Regular embedded and the other with Arial Bold, but the second TextField is not showing the bold text. It shows regular text. Here is how I am doing it:I change the text of two fields using c.txt1.text="changed text90";mc.txt2.text="changed text90";
I've been developing a piece of code that looks for keywords inbetween tags, and then stores these into an array (hlword) I am now trying to get it so that when it finds these words, it makes the word bold and changes the colour.
[Code]....
The code in orange is what I have been working on in an attempt for it to change the Textformat - Is this going a long the right lines?
how can i make a movieclip and a textfield to resize to the content of the text in the textfield? I mean, if I have a textfield with 3 letters font name XXX and then the content of the field change, how can i resize te textfield so the text dont autoadjust to the 3 letter space?
I've imported four fonts into the Library and used Linkage to enable Export for Actionscript. The fonts are the four versions of Trebuchet MS:
Trebuchet MS Trebuchet MS Bold Trebuchet MS Bold Italic Trebuchet MS Italic
They are named like this in the Library and for example the 'Bold Italic' version has both 'bold' and 'italic' selected in its properties.
Then I drew a dynamic textfield and selected for it's font 'Trebuchet MS Bold Italic*' so that the embed font was used. I also embeded the glyphs for 'Basic Latin' and 'Latin 1'.
Then I used this code to fill it with text:
ActionScript Code: my_txt.embedFonts = true; my_txt.text = "This is a sample";
The text is placed, however, it is always in the Trebuchet MS regular font. Also when I click the bold and italic icons in the Property Bar, the font won't go bold/italic. The same for just bold and just italic. It only turns bold/italic when I delete all font symbols accept the Bold Italic one.
I have situation like two textfield, one for input and the other for output. Then there comes the problem that for single line input, I type a long sentance but when it shows in the output textfield(because the length is limited there), it only can show part of the text.
Is it possible to define the length of the output textfield change according to the input textfield? Or is it possible that when the input textfield has more text than the output textfield required, then the text shown in the output textfield automatically change into smaller font size?
Well, i know, it sounds easy, but the only thing I want to do is make a textfield that's always focused. When I click next to the textfield on a picture or on the root the focus changes and that's not what I need, the textfield has to stay focused.
just because i got no response i am putting this up once again.When i use htmlText in textFields, it does not render smooth. How can this be fixed ?Tried embedding fonts... but nothing seems to work.
How to make the cursor visible in a TextField (either flashing or still). I have created an on screen keyboard to use with a TextField so that the TextField doesn't receive direct keyboard/mouse input, but there is no cursor to see where you currently are. I have tried the setSelection() stuff with no luck..
I've created a loop that will create dynamic textfields by using the information from an array.
This is how I did it:
Code: var bigWordsArray:Array=['Services','creative content','previous clients']; var myTextField:TextField = new TextField(); var myFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
When I put a dynamic texfield in front of a simple button it blocks the action. If I include the textfiel in the button, I canīt change the text later.
I would like to make text appear during the time that a movie clip is playing. I would like to do this without using actionscript 3 if possible. Can I place the textField on the movie clip timeline and control the on and off points by positioning the active frames in the timeline?
I'm making window component on Flash Professional CS4 and now I have 1 problem. At the top of window is dynamic textfield for title. When I scale window text is also scaling. So is there any way to make textfield fixed in same position and same size? 9-slice scaling is enabled.
