May 7, 2008I am generating the following text box and the data in it dynamically:
_root.createTextField("recipe"+i+"_txt", _root.getNextHighestDepth(), 5, 100, 600, 400);
The problem I am having is the text that is generated only stays on one line and therefore doesn't fit into the text field. I know there is a way to add the multiline property to other types of components but can this be done dynamically?

Jan 9, 2011Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?

Javascript - Flex Tree View With Wrapped Text On Nodes?
Sep 8, 2010I've spend hours searching for a way to put one paragraph of text in one tree node in Adobe flex. How can I do it? I created a simple tree view but the text is cut after the right border.
So I tried to create a tree renderer. In the renderer I specified width=100 and the text wrapped. But the height of the nodes was not being calculated properly, so the text over consecutive nodes overlapped and got messed.
So how do i do wrapped text in a tree node?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tree View - Adding Mouse Events To Handle Links
Mar 4, 2010I'm trying to recreate a UI for an application that my company makes in order to create an in-depth training companion to the application. One of the features is a weird tree view that works quite different from any tree view component I've ever seen, so I decided to create my own version of it as the Flash AS2 Tree Component doesn't have the functionality, and I haven't found any Tree Component for sale or download that works like that either. At first glance it seems like a standard Tree, except that it behaves differently if you click on the icon for each node than if you click on the label.
Some labels are links, some nodes can have 2 different labels, each with their own link, and most nodes have a second label underneath the label next to the icon (these don't have events assigned to them; they're just a quick way to view information). So anyway, I set up an XML file with all the information that I need (the easy part), but populating the whole thing, making sure each subnode can properly exist within each parentnode while allowing me to open and close them has been a real challenge.
Basically, I decided to use a whole bunch of loops to go through the nodes in the XML, but my lack of experience in using them is kicking my rear end. Basically, I need some code that can evaluate all the nodes in the XML and sort them within the proper hierarchies and then create all the clips in the stage to add the mouse events for opening, closing, and handling the links (which do not direct to the same event as when the icon next to that link is clicked).

The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?

Flash :: Builder 4 "includeIn" Property Causing Design View Error
Apr 26, 2010I am creating a custom TextInput component that will define an "error" state. I have extended the TextInput class to change the state to "error" if the errorString property's length is greater than 0. In the skin class, I have defined an "error" state, and added some logic to detect the size and position of the error icon. However, if I have this code at the same time I use the "includeIn" property in the bitmap image tag, I get a design view error. If I either A) Only include that code with no "includeIn" property set, it works or B) dont include the code to set the icon size and position and only use the "includeIn" property, it works. Any ideas what could be causing the design view problem when I use both the "includeIn" property and the icon size/position code at the same time?

Java :: View Part Of A Web Application - What Technology For A Pretty Intensive Grid View
Aug 3, 2010I'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.

Aug 15, 2011I'm currently using RobotLegs with the Presentation Model pattern to develop a Flex 4 project. I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.

Nov 19, 2011I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

Flex :: Change A View From Inside A View?
Jun 13, 2010I have one .mxml file (the Application) with a ViewStack (with 4 views) and a ControlBard, obviously I can change the views with it, but what I want to do is: in view #1 I have an image which I want to convert to a "hyperlink", so when I click it I go to View #2, is this doable? Also I would like to pass somehow some data (like a String) to that View #2 (lets say the it's a user avatar I click so I want to go to the second view which will show me his profile, that's why I need his name/id).

Oct 8, 2009in flash, I encounted a source file that is cropped and I cannot move it, is there some sort of cropped view in flash I dont know about? I cannot find anyinformation about it, it has rulers displayed as far as I remember.
Basically you cannot move in the file to edit anything viewpoint wise, everything outside of the movie area is invisible and not there? As if cropped.
