ActionScript 2.0 :: Unable To Personalize Dynamic Text Properties?

So i have a really nice flash gallery that i downloaded from a site but i am trying to personlize it. It uses a dynamic text (for the preloaders and the titles) which is post by this procedure :
fullPreloader.onLoadStart = function(target) {
target.createTextField("my_txt",fullImage_mc.getNe xtHighestDepth(),50,50,200,20);
target.my_txt.selectable = false;
};
So what i did was basically to create a new style (my_fmt) and apply it to dynamic style applied by default (my_txt) :
fullPreloader.onLoadStart = function(target) {
target.createTextField("my_txt",fullImage_mc.getNe xtHighestDepth(),0,0,200,20);
target.my_txt.selectable = false;

Anway nothing changes. The text is always the same (Times New Roman which is by default) I also tried to change de height and width definitions but no difference. It only works when i change the x and y position of the text.

I have a Dynamic Text box in my Library. I drag it to my main stage and give it a name..it is now a movieclip. The name is 'mcAdmin' I added an event listener for MOUSE_OVER I want the text to change color, but for now I'm just trying to change the text; however, it's not displaying the change in text I want. I do a trace, and the change is in there on the output window, but it is not displayed as such.How can I :1) use AS3 to change the font color of the text2) use AS3 to change the text and have it display?

create a picture gallery with XML. There is a loader progress which simply displays a percentage when you click on any image. I have been trying to fomrat this text but with little luck. I am able to apply colors to the text but unable to change the font, size, weight etc.

I'm working on a project that dynamically loads news articles.There is basically a title text box and a news box, both are the same width.I would like to know if there is a way that I can get the dynamic title to scale up/down in font size to fit the width (and also shift the news text down to be about 3px under the title)

I know I need to embed the font and declare the font in a setFormat string.

I am loading a small scrolling text box dynamically from a .txt doc in the same folder, but I can't find anything about changing the font properties. No matter what changes I make to the code, the font stays size 12, times new roman, black. I want to change all three of these properties, but most of the related forum posts I have found are about changing the font for a given sentence, manually input into the AS. I need flash to list all font in the text file as Arial, 13, and white in color.This is being set up so members of managment can update news without needing flash to do so, so they obviously can't type everything into the AS.
Here is the code I'm using:

I have a 3d wall and I'm passing images and linking through xml. Now I have added the description, but it just displays in the middle. I don't know how to align it. On mouse over, the description of that photo should display there itself, but it is not displaying in the middle (for all the photos). Instead of displaying on the each photos when the mouseover, it displays in one place.

I am trying to use "maxPauseBufferTime" property in NetStream class.I am using Adobe Flash Pro CS3. I have defined an object by the name nsStream of NetStream class. When I write nsStream and put a dot next to nsStream it shows me a drop down list of the properties of NetStream. However it doesn't show me maxPauseBufferTime property. I also tried the same with Adobe Flash Pro CS5. Even there the drop down list for nsStream doesnt show me the maxPauseBufferTime property.The adobe help page (first link that shows up when I google for as3 NetStream. Forum rules doesn't allow me to post the link here) indicates that this property is part of NetStream class.

Any way of personalizing your browser scrollbar using actionscript? If so, could you point me in the way of a valuable tutorial. I have a feeling it is uncontrollable through flash though and through Javascript.

I am developing a Jigsaw puzzle in Flash. I am developing a class for puzzle piece. The code of the PuzzlePiece class in given as follows.

I will be choosing which mask to use based on users selection of puzzle piece.When I try to use traingular mask by adding puzzle.gotoAndStop(2) the swf just flickers. i have a question while reading Flex 4 Cookbook i came across the method to dynamically adding control to the container controls but nowhere i came across with how to provide them with the dynamic properties and events like they have created a button dynamically inside a group control but what good a button be if i cannot give it an event dynamically. in the same way i want to add a tree view inside a vbox but what good that be if cannot provide a data provider to it dynamically.actually i am creating an web application where i add the tree view to a vbox and i want to the data provider should also be dynamic depending upon the option i have selected in the combo box.

I used to have a little text panel (that sat with the color, swatches, and align panels) that I was able to open up and edit text size, color, underline, etc with. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

I was using CS3 and Flash 8 (macromedia).I am working on a file that was created in maybe flash cs3 or perhaps flash 8, from another developer.It shows tweens on the time line.The developer created fade tweens, with names like "Transform 1" etc.The fades are on symbols (the developer converted jpegs to a symbols)from 100 percent to 0 percent alpha.I can see the fade go from 100 to 0, but I am unable to see the "alpha" properties when I select the symbol or the tween in the timeline.The tween is displayed in the timeline as a line with an arrowhead at the keyframe when the visibility goes to zero.I do not seem to be able to see the properties for the tween, i.e. 100 in keyframe 1, to 0 in keyframe 20.No information shows in the CS4 "Motion Editor".
I created a tween in a layer that I added, and it seems that CS4 no longer show the lines with arrowheads, but uses a different color for the tween range.And I get the motion properties in the "Motion Editor".I am sure it is pilot error here.Since I just installed CS4, etc.How can I view tween properties, like alpha on a symbol created in an earlier version of Flash?

I have a simple text box with a UIScrollBar component added to it.
The text box properties are set to "input text, multi line.
The problem is when I want to change just one line of the text to a bold or a different color, the whole text box contents changes. I've tried different property setting for the text box itself with no luck.

I have the following problem in AS3. I have a string like this one: "prop1:val1,prop2:val2,..."; I want to split and parse the string to obtain a dynamic object like this one: {prop1:"val1", prop2:"val2"}.
The simple way to solve it is to cycle through the string values and to do[code]...
Since I know the property names I expect, this works for me, but doesn't seem to be an elegant solution. I'm wondering if there is another way in as3 (similar to the reflection api in java).

I do occasionally use this useful property of the flash.display.MovieClip class
for eg:

Well, I'd like to learn more about this 'feature' of movieclip. As I got to know this from a colleague and do not really know as to what this is called in AS3.

i wanna make a dynamic tree using a lazy loading ,each time i open a folder the tree sends a http request to the server, in this script i'm using just static text to test the tree but , i'm getting in the label of the root all the XML text assigned to the dataprovider, then when i open the root folder i got the childs with good labels , and openitem and closeitem events do not fire how could i make them
