We want it to setup so that when a user clicks a link (such as "HOME") it will access text from a .txt file and load it into the dynamic text box. The score is out of 14, so the display should read "1/14", "2/14" etc. I've got some code that scores correctly, but would like the text box to incorporate the "/14" which is static text. If I sit a static text box next to the dynamic text box, it doesn't align properly. I've anti-aliased the text (Bitstream Vera Sans Bold), but the alignment is still not reliable, even checking type spacing, correct Y position on page etc. The code I have currently is:

but this doesn't work, the "/14" does not display.I've also tried scoreBoard.text = score + "/14"; In this instance, the "/14" is not displayed when the score is zero, then displays "1/14" when the score is 1, but then displays "a/14" when the score increases.
Recently whenever I tested my swf it did not show any text (static or dynamic) but if I preview the html version then it showed all the text.

I am wondering how to apply perspective to a dynamic/static text field in CS3? I have tried a few ways, but I can't get farther than skewing. This is the pane on which I would like to place the text. Could someone tell me if there is a way to get the same perspective?

I have a dynamic text filed where I am setting the text value through a variable. Now, I need that text to look static on run time and HTML tagging on the field enabled.

I am trying to get the value of a text field which is created by the user pushing a pin-pad. This text field is a string which is joined() from an Array of the sequence of pin-pad entries. Now my problem is that Flash will not convert the .text text field into a string with which I can use the value to convert to a Number and perform math on it.

I want to take a static text field, convert it into a button, and use it as a button. I need it static, because I changed orientation, and I do not know how to do that otherwise. The problem is, even though I converted it to a Button symbol, it does not work when I test the movie. It works fine with "Enable simple buttons", but when I test it, the button is not there, no change in mouse cursor, no reaction at all.So this is what I did:

To the button itself and the AS: The button will be a scroll-button for a text field, with different scroll speeds on rollover and press, but nothing else. The code for that I have (I think). It's something like (and please excuse my incorrect syntax here, but I'm typing from memory; still, I use the Script-Assistant and my syntax is apparently correct; it's also working with other buttons):

I'm at the end of my wits. The only difference I can tell from other (working) buttons I did the same way, is that the scrollBt does not do anything except scrolling, while all of the others have frame actions (gotoAndplay etc.) associated with them.
Is it possible to display Hebrew text in a normal Static Text field. If so how can I proceed.

Currently there is a dataset linked to an xmlconnector which populates fields on other screens for some reason I cannot get the textbox on this screen to populate. There is also an answer text box which is some number. This value is then sent back to the original table

highScores1>showScores
ShowScores contains 10 dynamic text fields name1, name 2 .... name 5 and scoe 1, score 2 ....score5.
I then attach the movie during runtime using:

I can populate and display the scores from a web based database using a PHP script and the following in my flash code:

Short version : Im confused on the difference between the two when accessing something on the stage from a package. Longer version: I passed in a ref to the stage to the constructor on a class, and was unable to use it to access a dynamic text on stage. I pass in this instead and am able to access it.

what i tried to do is the following: i created a dynamic text, gave it a name and converted it to symbol (Button; together with a shape). then i created an instance of it and gave this one a name as well.i tried to access the dynamic text using the following as 3 code:

however, that doesnt work, and the following error shows up: "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."its interestion that all that works for the symbol being a movie clip instead of a button.is there a possibility to access the dynamic text inside the button as well? is there a reason for the difference between the button and the movie clip?
