does anyone know the code that allows you to open a PDF document (in Acrobat) from Flash? Is this even possible? Basically, i have 3 PDF docs that need to be launched from a 3 buttons in my swf. I would be able to do it if they wanted to post the PDFs on a webpage, but they actually want to run the swf locally and have it link to documents on their hard drive.

I can code things fine myself but I've never used anyone elses code components to build something. I need to make a magazine that has a page fli effect and someone pointed me to Rubens flex book component (I'm assuming I can use it with flash). I've downloaded the zip file but I'm not sure how to actually start making my book. Everything is in different folders, because I assume they all are interlinked and are specificied with their paths within their classes.
I'm thinking I need to make a fla and then a document class and link that to the fla. But what do I put in the document class?

However, the window is not centered. I know that there is another code introduced by Kirupa which launches a centred pop-up window, but I've already used this code for several files, and was wondering if I could change the code above so that it would open in the centre.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this but... I have a file, which I created on Flash CS5.5 on another computer (I can't have access to that computer anymore) but I forgot at home I have Flash CS5. And now that I want to open it I can't. I was wondering if there is any way to get the actionscript code from the SWF or FLA file. Using a decompiler will work? I'm using a Mac with Lion and I haven't found nothing.

I think it has something to do with "SortByVertical" and i changed it to "SortByHorizontal" but this just gave a strange result. I need to do this becuase i will be adding a scrolling text box and using it vertically does not work for the scroll bars.[code]

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.

i have given 3 functions as onEnterFrame,onPress,onRelease. i tried all these but didnt get the result.smile1,smile2,smile3 are button instances which are declared on the monie clip.my main thing is i hav a button, when i click on that button it should go the next frame which i have declared in "gotoAndPlay(6)" method.

I gathered that it is most probably due to the fact that I have constructed a button in the improper way.I tried to redo a button but it was the same result.I would like to try to access it through the main timeline. View 3 RepliesI'd like to create a button in FlashMX which, when pressed will open a PowerPoint file. I came across a tutorial on how to use the FSCOMMAND "exec" to trigger a batch file which then triggers the PowerPoint file. This however did not work... If I double click on the batch file, the PP file will open as required so it seems to be the command in Flash that's causing a problem.
View 4 RepliesI'm attempting to have a basic FlashCS4 intro/splash screen for my website, that after finished playing is a button that links to the first page of my site. I have the animation created, I'm just having trouble actually linking it to the page. When I test the movie, I get the error:

You know that ur deskopt background can be a web page right ? well i want to create such a page with dreamweaver which i can do and insert some flash button that i would be able to click on and open my folders such as My Images, My Documents, My computer... not open a file but the folder itself. I have a group of buttons that open a MC similar to opening a new window. Each "new window" has a close button that closes that window and goes back to the main window (the main timeline). The trouble is, the buttons to open the new window only work once. For example, if you click on "The Founders" the window opens then you click "close window" and "The Founders" button no longer works unless you refresh the page. I think it has something to do with the way I've coded the close button, but I'm not sure what exactly.[code]
