Is there a way to center a movieclip in the movie? I have my SWF resizing to 100% wide but not height in the html document.Is there a way, maybe with actionscript, that you can cetner the movieclip?

My flash movie is 1440x900 but the area where all the important stuff happens in within 1024x768, i am trying to keep the middle in the center regardless of browers size or aspect ratio.
I can center the page but it doesn't work as i need it to. If the browers is small (1024x768) the swf is justified against the left edge, but not keeping the middle in the middle of the brower.

I'm dynamically creating an empty movieclip inside another movieclip to load an image into it.
How could i make sure that this image is always centred in the movieclip?
Also, if i have a attached movieclip named E.G. 1M how do i find out the x and y position to make it appear next to each other?
I want to rotate a movieclip depending upon the mouse movement. Rotation is working also but I want to rotate it from the center of the movieclip. The registration point of the movieclip is top - left

View 2 Repliessay i have a stage that is 2000 px high..let's say there are buttons spread out from top to bottom and also,lets say pressing anyone shows a related MC..how do i make that MC center to the screen (not the stage) wherever i may have scrolled to?the only thing i have found after an extensive google session is somevague tip about using externalInterface and retrieving the position of the browsers native scroller from javaScrip ..but seems like a bit too much work, there's gotta be an easier way to do this.

i am new with flash, and i had swf which contains big image it will resize to best fit. when i double click the image the clicked position come to center of the stage. i achived little bit, it zooming but image not come to center position. i have attached the fla file in it i have used this script to zoom on double click and bolded 2 lines are to position the image.

a movieClip that contains a polygon and some circles at the angles of the polygon. I want to use the circles as rotation handles.Now the code below works but it terribly, terribly slow.I've seen a couple of other examples of rotation using the mouse position, but I want the polygon to rotate via the handle; I think that means the angle of rotation needs to be updated each time the mouse moves.Is there a cleaner/more efficient way to do this?Also, this works only for one direction right now no matter the x/y direction you move the mouse.

I got a video background where I have a button (which is a movie clip) inside the button I need to have a movieclip to be centered on the stage. My stage is dynamic and therefore changes according to the browser of the user.
I tried the following:
notice.x=stage.stageWidth/2
notice.y=stage.stageHeight/2
but it places it almost out of the stage...

sets the registration point of myClip to its top left corner by default. Using Flash CS4 to set it to its center is just a couple of clicks, so I am wondering how I can perform the same action only with code.

Now there is a cross on the to left corner and my guess would be that the mouse follows that cross, but i can not change the position of the cross within the instance/ original object. But the pictures aligns to the top left corner of the MovieClip. How do i make them align to the center of the movieclip?

Unfortunately, in this case that doesn't cut it. The move clips I'm loading all have different registration points, and they end up looking anything but centered. Is there a way to center them based on some other factor other than the registration point, so that they look centered?
Is it possible that I can have a fixed 3d rotation center for a movieclip.So if I have two movieclips spaced apart and I have rotated them, they rotate in their own axis rather than based on a single axis.
View 6 RepliesI'm try to build a photo gallery using the flash components SlideShowPro and ThumbGrid. I have put ThumbGrid inside a movie clip called thumbs_mc that slides in and out when you mouse over it to show or hide the thumbs. That part is working, but I would like to have the stage and thumbs_mc resize to the browser width with ThumbGrid centered inside thumbs_mc.
Resize and scaling the stage and movie clips is not a problem, but I can't figure out how to keep ThumbGrid centered inside the containing movie clip. ThumbGrid is a fixed width component, and the only way I can get it to work is to have the mc the same width as the component. Here's the part of the AS that I'm using to control the positioning now:
