How do I colour the text boxes to a blue shade also?
I have 4 dynamic text boxes which duplicates the text from a main input text box. How do I write a code to make visible only the dynamic text box I want when clicked it's check box.What is the CODE to make each "DYNAMIC TEXTBOX" visible when clicked on it's checkbox?

I would like to shade a date range in the background of the chart based on start and ending dates in my dataprovider. How can I take the star and end dates and get their exact point on the chart? Although you can use the loadVariablesNum() command to load the .txt files is there anyway to edit and save the external files in flash? e.g. say I have a text box and a submit button in flash is there some way where I can add the text boxes content to a .txt file?

Right now, I know how to import text from an XML file into different text boxes. But, what I need to do, is be able to import text regardless of how many text boxes my FLA file has.

The code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.
What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.
Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?
i've found this code on the web that works well and migrating from as2 to as3?i just don't know what the equivalent codes are?

Is it possible to tell a text box to auto fit to its text? What I mean is that when i change the size of a font to something smaller the text box remains its old large self. This is a problem because when I want to align this text with several other text boxes that have gone through similar treatment, the alignment will take into account the full box size rather than just the text.
So basically I have to go and manually shorten each text box. Which is a pain when you have to deal with a lot of text. Is there a script or button/option I'm not aware of that will auto fit the box constantly?
I want to parse the data from an XML file into an array and then put each of the values in the array into a dynamic text box on the stage. The text boxes are name "number1_txt", "number2_txt" &c.I have managed to set up a loop to parse the XML into my array and also to generate the names of the text boxes dynamically but I can't get the values from the array to display in the text boxes!

I want to create a flash document that allows me to change the colous of an image using a colour palette of my own. I am a complete beginner and have no idea where to start this, hence i would need to know what to do and how to do it. I basically want the image to be a simple 2d image that i will create using different layers in photoshop and import them into flash, the layer images will all be one colour so the colour of the whole layer changes. so the colour palette will be on the side of this and when i click on an image and then a colour the image changes to the colour i clicked.
View 3 RepliesI am parsing colour codes that I get from a Flex(Flash ActionScript) application, then creating HTML div elements with that same colour. My Problem: The colours are all only 8 digits long. So they cant be RGB colour values can they? What color value format are they in? If I can figure the format they are in I can convert them to RGB. Maybe the last/first digit signifies its 0. alpha value?
PS: Should I convert the colours to RGB or something else?

I'm making a program that draws a grid of boxes and the color of the box must be different to those adjacent to the box. My code compares the current box's color to those to the left and top. If any of them matches, it picks another random number (as the color). For the tiles on the first row/column, I make my grid's array indexes with negative numbers -1 so that it will not match.

I'd rather it wasn't a btn as there are a lot of links similar and it would be very time consuming to change them all to symbols and stuff. I'm using flash CS4 [AS2]. should be simple anyway . I'm using flash CS5 but have continued using AS2 because that is what I know how to use. Im trying to change the colour of a Dynamic text field in which the string is constantly changing. I am trying to use the code:

Does AS3 work well with get the text to change colour at the same time written in AS2?
View 1 RepliesI've got a background behind the text that changes colour once the mouse is rolled over. However I'm trying to get the text to change colour at the same time. The text box is slightly smaller than the background box for the time being. When I put my most over the box it changes colou rto red as expected. However, when I roll my mouse over the text box, it turns completely white. This again is expected, but not what I want. This is happening because the text is turning white as its supposed to, and the background is as well when the mouse is taken off. The about text is a button, and its default rollover state is making the background turn white as it rolls over the text layer. Is there some way prioritize the background? What needs to be changed in the code? Also the drop shadow turns off when I put my mouse over them the first time and I m not quite sure why...Here's my AS code:

What I would like to do is be able to change the colour of one number. If the dynamic text box has the numbers 1-5 in it I would, for example, like to change the colour of the number 2. Have it set to blue but the rest to white. How would I do this without changing the colour of the entire text field?

View 3 Repliesive taken an old menu with videos etc written in as2.0 and converted it to 3.0 and recoded the entire thing. And it was a mess..After 3 weeks of work its finally ready, but then a new bug appears:All the text is white, then i hover over my buttons and they get white and bold.Once i remove my mouse it goes back to its original state, but changes colour to yellow. This applies to all the buttons and static text in the scenes or frames i change to with the buttons.
There is no code that changes any properties of the buttons or text anywhere in my file so my question is simply this:Could there be any major difference between flash player 7 and 9 that could be causing this?
