I tried doing a search here and online. Most of what I found was buttons controlled via XML.I'm trying to make an "active state" button.I have 3 buttons. When a user clicks on the button it stays an active color. When the user selects another button the active color goes back and the current button stays on the color.Does that make sense?here's the code I have so far:

Code: Select allbutton1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, redover1);
button1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, redout1);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating Dynamic XML Active State Buttons?

Sep 8, 2009

I'm looking for an AS3/XML parsing pro to help me with an issue I'm having. The following xml file loads 7 icons ("url") into an array. What I want to do is create an activestate using child ("activestate") that replaces the "url" icon when clicked. I have no idea what the best way to do this would be. I've tried everything. The reason for this application is if i decide to change up the content down the line I won't have to recode anything. Just update the icons.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Nav Button States - Button To Stay In It's Active State Until Another Button Is Clicked

Dec 17, 2004

I have a menu with five nav buttons (atcually MovieClips). Each has three frame labels: "on", "stay", and "off". The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. I'd like the button to stay in it's active state until another button is clicked, then I would like it to play it's "off" animation. Each MC has this code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Write Will Keep A Button In The Active State When Pressed?

Feb 9, 2009

I've been attaining help with buttons and movieclips here, and I got awesome code from cbeech.The buttons code I'm trying to write will keep a button in the active state when pressed, and if any other buttons are in the active state, they will close up...Im posting alink to a flash file of the effect i want in actionscript 2.0 . However, I need the effect/code in actionscript 3.0. and I need it to be modular where I can easily add or remove buttons to my heart is content.

Put more clearly, when a user rolls over a button, I want the button to play the "open" frame in the button/movieclip. When the users rolls off the button, the button/movieclip goes the "close" frame in that button/movieclip. If the user presses the button, the button/movieclip plays the "open" frame and will stop at the stop (action) to stay in the active state, and if there are any other buttons open, they should go their respective "close" frame and play from there. Here's my starting code. please bear with me; Im just migrating from 2.0:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keep The Over Or Down State Active Until The User Clicks Another Button?

Jan 14, 2011

I am new to actionscript 3. I have created buttons with up/over/down states. The button changes colour during the over/down frames.How do I keep the over or down state active until the user clicks another button?

Right now when the user puts the mouse over the buttons, they change colour, but it goes back to the original colour once they click off. I would like it to remain on the changed colour so that the user remembers which button s/he's pressed until the another one is clicked.I came up with the following code in actionscript 3 and got it to partially work:

ActionScript Code:
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, startTransparent)
function startTransparent (e:MouseEvent):void{
btn1.alpha = .6;
}

So when it's in the down state, I get the transparent state and stays there. But how do I get it back to normal when the user clicks on another button?

I have about 8 buttons and when I click on on I want that to stay in the rollover state, then when I click on another one I want the first to go back to the out state and the new one that I clicked to go to the over state and stay there.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Best Active State Buttons

Feb 12, 2009

when a user rolls over a button, the button plays the "open" frame inside the button. When the user rolls off the button, the button plays the "close" frame of the button. When a user presses the button, the button goes to the "dock" frame of the button. Here's the problem : when a user clicks a button, all the other buttons go to their "close" frame when only the button that's previously open when the user clicks a differen button should go to the "close" frame.

More emphatically, a function is needed to check to see if any buttons are in the open state (not a frame 1) when a user clicks a buttons. The way the code is now, when a user clicks a button, all the other buttons go to their "close" frame when only the button that was open should go to their "close" frame. Thus, if any button is not open when a user clicks any button, then, that button shouldn't do anything.

ActionScript 3 :: Menu With Active State Shown On Click

Jan 18, 2010

Ive got a simple menu that upon hover of each item, plays a movie clip, then on mouse_out it plays the movie clip in reverse. What I'm trying to do is to have a third state (active) that is shown upon clicking. I'm thinking I need to do something along the lines of:
-When clicked, gotoAndStop(5) //Five being the location of my active frame
-Also remove the event listener that triggers the function to play the movie in reverse.
-Then when another menu item is clicked, re-add the event listener to the previous menu item so it's not stuck 'active'

My code is as follows:
// Imports
import fl.transitions.*;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Showing Active State For Numbered Buttons In Xml Gallery

Jan 11, 2007

I have created an image gallery that loads from an XML file using mostly previous Kirupa threads. From Scotty's code (I think -- my head is moosh now) I got numbered buttons for navigating between the images.Each button is a movie clip with different labeled frames for "up", "active", "hover", and "down" states. I'd like to have the numbered button change color when its image is on view and then change back when a different image loads, and I can't figure out how to do that. I know part of the problem is that the onRollOut function overrides other changes, so I'm willing to give up the rollover effect if necessary.[code]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Actions Within A Rollover State?

Jun 18, 2006

So I have a window that slides in when its rolled over. It goes back to its origin when the user rolls off the window. Now within that window I have a scroll feature taht creates a conflict with the window actions when the user tries to use the scrollbar elements. I want the window to stay open, while the user is scrolling and i want the window to close when the user rolls off the window.

It could be easier to have the user click the window open/closed...but I was wondering if there is a way I could keep my original vision...here is what i wrote for the window code:

[AS]window.backdimmer._alpha=0;
window.trigger.onRollOver = function() {
window.slideTo(-360, "_y", .4, "easeoutbounce");

Professional :: Make A Button Active If Another Button Is Clicked?

Dec 13, 2010

I want to make a button (or graphic) active and visible if another button is clicked. But it must be invisible and unclickable before the other button is clicked. (this is a "find the differences between the 2 pictures game" and I want circles to appear over the differences that the user finds but only after he clicks it)

The button (or graphic) I want to become active has instance name of "sockcircle_btn" The button you click to make it appear is called "sock_btn"

In the first frame of the sockcircle_btn layer, this is my code

sockcircle_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,sockcircledisable);
function sockcircledisable(evt:MouseEvent):void{
sockcircle_btn.mouseEnabled = false;
}

In the sock_btn frame (frame 3) this is my code

sock_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,sockcircleenable);
function sockcircleenable(evt:MouseEvent):void{
sockcircle_btn.mouseEnabled = true;
}

The file is setup to loop between frames 2-3. But the sockcircle_btn never enables even when sock_btn is clicked.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make UP State Of Button End When Next Button Is Interacted With?

Jan 14, 2010

I'm trying to make buttons that involve a character pointing to indicate interaction.When a button is interacted with (mouse over or down) the character's arm points to that particular button. I separated his body, so that it remains constant on the main stage, no matter which button is being interacted with.The problem is, when the user is not mousing over or clicking down on any button, the character has no arms (since only his body remains constant)!How do I resolve this?The only thing I thought of so far is if there's any way to create an up button state that includes the arm (right now I have nothing for mouse up) THAT ENDS when the next button is interacted with. Is that possible? If I put the arm in the up state (in addition to mouse over and down) it stays when the interaction is over, which poses a problem when the user interacts with the next button (the character ends up with double the arms since each button introduces a different set of arms pointing towards that particular button).

The mouse doesn't change to the hand symbol and the rollover/release effects don't work on most of the button, just on a small band around the perimeter of the button. Its not like it happens every time and there doesn't seem to be any consistency in what causes it.
