I have a form that a user fills out, what i want to do is have what ever they fill out in that form load into a new swf that i have.
so say in the field called "name" they put "ryan"
then when you press submit it loads my movie names results.swf and in that movie ryan shows up in a dynamic text field. How crazy hard is this. It seems easy but i cant get it going
i have a box called infoBox that contains a text field called caption. infoBox expands on mouse-over. When it does so, I do not want the text in caption to scale up - I want it to stay at 11 pt. So far my code to prevent this from happening is not working:How do I fix this?[URL]..
View 2 RepliesI have a wordpress based site that stores information about an image in a database field called "background" in a table called "wp_postmeta".The 'loader' gets an url such as "/thisImage/background.swf"The "background.swf" should somehow display "background.jpg" instead but since I've changed the field name in the database (from background to temp_background) it doesn't work.I pass variables to the "loader" swf and they are correct based on the new field name but it still isn't working.I need to know if there is anything in the .fla's (and therefore the .swfs) that is pointing to somewhere in the database hard-coded. Basically I need someone to look at them and tell me how they are working.

I've been using Flash for a few years now and I've recently (5 months+) started using CS5 package.My query is how do I successfully embed accented latin characters into a "classic" dynamic text field in my compiled Flash movie that are called from an external text file. I've searched the various forums online and all the methods demonstrated have not worked.
What I've done so far is to to select my dynamic text field, click on "Embed" within the PROPERTIES area, choose the font and the weight, then add any of the foreign characters and/or glyphs to the "Also include these characters:" area then finish up and compile. When I run my SWF file, the glyphs and accented fonts are missing but all the other typical Latin characters show up.
I tried this same method in CS4 (because we have an old Mac in the office too), and almost the same thing happened except instead of completely missing out the glyphs and fonts, it showed a box (almost like an image placeholder) instead.
I want to load an external swf called 'signs.swf' into an empty mc called 'signholder'.

Everything works. Cool. But, I now want to target something within the signs.swf. How do I do it though? What is the path? Do I have to give the child of signholder an instance name? Everything I try fails.

I am having issues with startDrag(). I have a movie clip called circle. Inside circle, I have a movie clip called circleFill and another called circleOutline.onEnterFrame, this movieClip is duplicated 4 times.

The field from this line is what I need to recognize as HTML reading CDATA tags:

In the excel file he wanted some cells - in orange - be available for user to input data at same time display the data. I find it difficult to do. But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.

I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.

I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.
View 11 RepliesI've created a dynamic text field - mediaImportName001 (created , and populated it with the name of a file that I choose to import using a browse button (as3 and AIR).This works fine - I can import the file, and the name appears in the field.
I'd now like to pass the contents of the text field to another text field. But I can't get the contents. If I try to trace the contents of the textField trace("mediaImportName"+thisNum).text - Flash returns "undefined" (even though I'm asking it to trace after the field has been populated).
I use the following code to check that the field really is there and named correctly (the code returns the children):

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I have this code in a function to change the colour of a mc called Tab1. It works fine. But when the mc is tweened it doesn't move. If I don't change it's colour with this function it tweens fine. What have I done wrong?

I am calling a group of "large" jpgs into a slide show viaxml at runtime.The files are at size and with no compression as they are seelocally on a touchscreen.They look good in Pshop on screen, but when viewed in the swfthey have odd edges in t etext areas or anywhere there is adramatic shift in color or contrast. If I set it to zero it doesn't get fired. What's the deal? Does anyone know why it wouldn't get called when setting it to zero. If I change the object type to a number or even an object it still doesn't work as expected.
