ActionScript 2.0 :: Get A Contact Us Script Working On A Flash Program?
Jun 22, 2009
I have no previous experience in scripting etc, but I have to get a contact us script working on a flash program, there is 4 boxs, name, subject, email & message.
I am creating a website in flash CS4 and I made a contact form and when I test the site out, I can type and click the submit button, so everything is fine there but it doesn't go to anything. Now I know I need a code to tell the contact form where to go, but I can't find one that works, or I may be doing something wrong. I also have been reading about PHP but I am not sure what that is. I found a site that said to put this code in the actions panel.
I have a DVD that came with a school book the book is called CompTIA A+ Guide to Managing and Maintaining Your PC. It came with a DVD that has some interactive labs on it that work thru html files and flash player. There is a master HTML file on the disk that runs the whole thing. After everything is activated with numbers and all that jazz you have a screen that lists all the labs you can do. You have to set Flash up to allow access to a folder on the DVD that holds the labs HTML files.
I have this working on my PC thru Firefox and Internet Explore. I want to be able to do this on my MacBook pro. So far i can't get it to work on Safari or Firefox or Opera on my Mac. I have set up flash the same way and if I use Finder to go directly to the chapter1_lab1.html file it works. But when i try and do it by access the master HTML file and clicking on one of the labs listed it doesn't work. Safari sits on a blank screen and Firefox gives me this error.
File not found Firefox can't find the file at file///Volumes/LabConnection/Labs/2207012/Chapter1_Lab1/chapter1_lab1.html
What i have figured out is that on the DVD the files are listed with capitals (Chapter1_Lab1 not chapter1_lab1) If i enter this part into the address bar of Firefox ( file///Volumes/LabConnection/Labs/2207012/Chapter1_Lab1/chapter1_lab1.html) I get the same error if I change the c and l to Capitals it plays the lab. Hope this is understandable. What do I need to do to make it read the file since the master is telling to look for lower case files and for some reason my Mac won't recognize it has the same file with the upper case letters.
After hitting next on this animation you can see there appears to be blank areas on the animation. If you mouse over them you will see buttons appear which is their "over state." When I publish the animation and preview it in Adobe Flash CS5.5 all the buttons are visible and work correctly. It is only in the brower (chrome, firefox, safari) with up to date Flash Player that is is not working. This is happening in a number of animations I created originally in CS4 last year, and am updating them as CS5.5 using AS3.
I am really in trouble with flash forms and need help please. Ive been trying to get a contact form working for a few weeks but have had no luck.Below is the code I am putting in to the flash form and php file.(this is the code I have put for the send Button)
on (release) { if (name eq "" or subject eq "" or message eq "" or email eq "") { stop(); } else { loadVariablesNum("form.php", 0, "POST"); gotoAndStop(2); }}
(this is the code I have put for the clear Button)
on (release) { name = ""; subject=""; message=""; email="";}
(And this is the php file i created in dreamweaver and saved it as form.php)
I have a problem with my contact page,when I fill in the fileds,and click on SEND, the information is supposed to clear from the fields, and send to the specific email addressI am hosting with they support php, but for some reason they tried to say they cant do it for spam reasons??? I have given the read,write permissions
<?php $sendTo = "degrees28@hotmail.co.uk";$subject = "Enquiry from Your Website"; $headers = "From: " . $_POST["name"] . "<" . $_POST["email"] .">
So I have built a contact form out of AS2 and PHP. PHP 5 is enabled on my server, so that's not a problem. I think there is a slight error within my code somewhere. What happens is once online, you fill out the form and hit post, it goes to the "error sending email!".
I have a contact form on my site for which the text inputs are created via AS2. This works fine but I cannot get the tabbing to work (or even have any effect) no matter what I do. I have a menu that sometimes displays at the top, sometimes on the left and sometimes at the bottom. If it's at the top or bottom then the form tabbing works fine, however if it's down the side then when i tab from contact_namefield it goes to the 8th menu option, then the 9th menu option, then contact_emailfield then contact_messagefield.Similarly if i tab from the top of the menu it's goes down sequentially to menu option 7, then to contact_namefield, then menu option 8, then menu option 9 then contact_emailfield then contact_messagefield.
I cannot for the life of me work out how to change this, I would rather avoid setting tabenabled=false for every other element on the page (as i'd still like these to be tabbed), but either way I don't think this will fix it as the tabindexes i've specified seem to be having no affect at all, no matter what values i put in (even if i reverse them) the tab order is always exactly the same. I am using the following code and would be so grateful if anyone could point out what i'm doing wrong as I can't for the life of me figure it out!
var currfont=_root.textfont; var inputcol = "0x" + _root.textcolour;var my_fmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();my_fmt.bold = false;my_fmt.font = "Arial";my_fmt.color = inputcol;

I have a working contact form (.swf) that doesnt work inside another movie. Alone it works, but when I call it in main movie with loadMovie it doesn't.

I used files from Kirupa's tutorials, made by claudio and senocular.
the source files work perfectly when I upload them to my server - but when I insert the form into my flash website - I am unable to receive the contact email at all. The problem must be with the flash file becuase I have not altered the php (except to send to my email)
I am using Flash CS3 (but publishing for action script2) I have double checked all my input field sare named correctly with var_names that match the php code. The form fields have been created as a moviclip named "form" and the following action script attached:
Im trying to add an exit button onto my program so when its clicked it exits the program completely.. I've tried some of the suggestions on the forums but they arnt working. what I have been using and its not working..
// CLICK to Exit exit_Btn.addEventListener("mouseUp", goExit); function goExit(evt:MouseEvent) { fscommand("quit"); };

I need to program a timer for a typing tutorial program. It needs to go to 5 minutes. When the timer gets to 5 minutes the movie has to go to frame 13 which displays the results of the typing test.
I have created a flash program and I would like to run a second flash program from inside the first. To explain, say I am running a program that draws a circle and fills it with a color. Then, I have designed a second program that will divide a circle into sectors by entering percentages, to turn that circle into a pie chart. Is there a way to be running the "draw a circle" program and have a button that opens the "divide the circle into sectors" program in a new window and then passes information from that program to the first program. I am sure I will have to send the information from the second program to an XML file and then have the first program recieve it from the XML file (which I can do), but I don't know if I can run the second program from inside the first program.
I created a simple web site in flash cs4 with a contact form, however, when I press submit, no email is sent even though my site says it was successfully sent.
Here is my actionscript and PHP:
function submit(e:MouseEvent):void{ var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables(); variables.fromname = nameText.text; variables.fromemail = emailText.text; variables.frommessage = messageText.text; var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("contact.php"); req.data = variables; req.method = URLRequestMethod.POST; var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES; loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, sent);
I am creating a contact form and I have completed the form in flash.How do I get flash to talk to php so that when a user clicks on the submit button it will send the data via php to an email account. Right now I have trace functions that are reading the input in flash. I just need to figure out how to communicate to php. It would be a bonus if I the input text can check to make sure the email is a valid email.
I have created a form in flash (CS5) using AS3 and Php.The test run worked absolutely fine but now I have added the form to my (original) flash movie it has a number of errors come up... Thing is that I've just spent the last 2 hours trying to get this form to work and having no success what so ever.

I recently bought a flash template from flashden and the authors support is a bit slim so i thought i'd post it here.
There is one flash file and it has a contact form. They are sitting in a subdirectory on my website [URL] The contact form has a button and the action script is as follows
on (release) { //Localise the needed variables sender_mail = this._parent.Semail.text; sender_name = this._parent.Sname.text;
I know this is a no-brainer for people who happen to know the secret to passing variables from a combobox to PHP. I have wasted all day and I give up.
I have a working, secure Flash-based contact form which sends to a PHP file which then emails the information to the chosen email address.
I want someone to add a combobox to my existing code without altering/deleting anything else. That is all I want. I want to be able to compare before and after and see exactly how you added the combobox and got it to work. I do not want to see completely different code and for you to say, "Well, this is how I would do the email form and it works better." The form I have works great and is secure. I just don't know how to add a friggin' combobox.
I am needing to build a contact form in my flash website and need some help. Right now I am using the simple mailto method but a form you be much nicer.
how to create a contact section in flash. One that has:
Name: E-mail: Comments:
[URL]
Attached is a picture of what im trying to accomplish (the contact us layout only. Disregard this website design, color scheme and layout).Also, what does something like this output to. I'm looking to create a simple .txt file that outputs to becuase I want to make this as simple as possible.
I wanted to create a simple flash contact form for my flash website. I went through Lee's tutorial on how to create the contact form and PHP file to go with it. I've uploaded everything to my server and tested the form. My flash form consists of Name, Subject, Message, and Email fields. When I receive the email all that comes through is this with none of the actual message that was written IN the contact form:
Name: Subject: Message: Email: The 'From' field is also blank. I don't know if my problem is with flash, my PHP code, or with my server. Can someone take a look at this and tell me what's wrong? I can't seem to find any errors from Lee's tutorial with my code or labeling.
have created a contact form that sends 3 lots of data (name, email and message) to my email address. here is my code for my flash form which looks right
I need to get a contact us form in a flash site to send an email to me when someone submits it. I bought a template ([URL}..and it has an area for contact us, but the form doesnt actually work. The template seemed easy enough to be able to get to that page, took some searching in there, so i just need to somehow add some action script that can send me the info.
