ActionScript 2.0 :: If, Else Statements - When The Side Bar Opens - Find Out Which Photo Is Visible?

Basically there are 3 photos, 2 set to 0% alpha and 1 set to 100% and each have a mini page icon which changes the photo that is visible. i when the side bar opens i want it to find out which photo is visible and have the appropriate icon on rollover state (grow) so you always know which of the photos are visible.
My client wants to display some videos which should appear behind a curtain. As the curtain is drawn back, the user should see the videos playing behind it. Right now my client wants 6 videos running on the screen side by side (not just the videos ready to play, but actually playing simultaneously). When I jump to the frame where those videos are, I see the curtain animating, but there's nothing behind it.
Only after about 40-60 seconds the videos start appearing. The client wants for the videos to be visible as the curtain opens, not have a gap of nothing while they load. Even is I uncheck the autoPlay option for the videos I get the big delay. Is there a way to preload all these videos before the curtain is drawn? The videos are 6 F4V files, each about 1.5MB. I'm using the FLVPlayback component (6 instances on the stage, one for each video).
im trying to get a mc that is in side another mc to stay in the stage boundry with if statements

all this does is move the mc over to the left 50 px and down 50 px weather it is out side of the stage or with in the stage the parentmc is loaded dynamicly then placed in several postions, some are in the middle of the stage and dont need moved some are close to the edge of the stage and are being cut off

I have a problem though. I have several sections that you visit from the main page, and one of these is the photo gallery. However, when I visit this page and then goto any other section of the site, the thumbnails remain visible.Thumbs still visible when going to other sections:My guess is that the actionscript needs to say somewhere - hide or get rid off thumbnails when moving out of the gallery?
Currently I'm searching for a free solution to simple edit some photos at the users browser. Resizing and Cropping would be mandatory. I'm not searching for an online service (for example SUMO or PIXLR which are great), because I want to include the software into a WYSIWYG Editor. JavaScript would be really nice, but it would have to work in IE 8. Pixastic is a great example, but works only in modern browsers (not IE 8 :-/) Maybe setting up some kind of image processing service with ImageMagick and communicating with it through AJAX could also be an solution? Has anyone gained some experience with such a solution?
I am trying to find the IP address using as3 in adobe Flash professional cs5.5 and I think it is not possible from AS3 without using any server side technology(maybe I am wrong).But I don't know any server side technology like PHP..etc.
Way with actionscript to determine the right and left side of a movie clip? I have a row of dynamiclly loaded pictures that load into a movieclip and then have arrows that scroll the photos left and right using an interval and _x +=10. The scroll works great. Only problem is, it just goes on and on and on if you keep pressing the arrow. Is there any way to tell it where the left and right side are and not to let either side go past a certain point.
I have a AS2 movie clip that has a drag navigation. The movie clip is bigger then the visible area. How can I find the center xy of the current visible area when I stop the drag?
I'm working on a game where if the person puts there mouse over a card, it should pop out over the other cards, and when moved off, the card should go back to where it was, i can get the card to pop out no problem, and go back to it's location, the thing is, i don't want the card to go back when i move off the entire image, only when the mouse moves off of what was originally visible, and i'm not certain how to obtain a pre-visible area that i can use to test if the object should still be over all the other cards.
I'm trying to avoid the scroll bar appearance on an UIComponent. Is there any way to obtain the computed width/height that my container component should have to have all children visible? I don't want to compute it myself. I would like to know if there is any variable computed by the component when it decides if it should draw the scroll bar or not.
I want to download files from the server side to client side without prompting a window to the user to download when any updates happen at server side.Right now I am using urlstream class but first file is downloading completely rest of the files contents downloading partially.

If they get it right the money clip advances and they go onto the next question. I want to include each time that it should only go onto the next question if all questions have been asked. Im in need of a simple code which makes a MovieClip move side to side horizontally preferably using the attachMovie function.The MovieClip must not go off the screen so the movement will have to be limited within the stage size.

I want to create an application that has these features
- At client side: Display a list of images, when user click on one image, data will be stored in MySQL database.
- At server side: Manage images used in client side, I can delete, add new images.
Is this possible for me to achieve this using Flex? And if it is able, will my output be 2 separate SWF files? And where can I find the materials to read on writing such applications?
i have to sanp images into tile or grid form. but my images are in 4 different sizes in height/width. i have to place all images in side by side like tiling.

How would I be able to create a scene where you scroll left to right using the mouse, but instead of having it at a constant rate and having the picture (background) move when your mouse is at a certain x coordinate to have it be that when you move the mouse away from an object the background will move, and will move faster the farther away the mouse is? I have tried scrolling back and forth with x coordinates, but I haven't been able to get this to work.

This was super easy using AS2. I had 2 'loader' movie clips placed on the stage and simply used the loadmovie to bring up the external swfs. How would i accomplish this using AS3? I simply need one movie to display on one side of the stage, and another on the other side of the stage. do i still use these 'loader' movie clips?

User interacts with Adobe flex webpage to configure reports based on some data stored server side. They configure their view and have THAT view emailed to them daily. I've got the report builder, the part I'm trying to figure out is how to render the report server side and send it out as email (native flex functionality? convert to html? take screenshot? assume something is running client side?...)
I am writing a thesis and have been able to place all my frameworks under two categories (client-side frameworks and server-side frameworks), but I can't seem to finf where to place Adobe Flex...In which category should I place this or should I place it in some separate catgeory?
I have a stage on the iPhone Project in AS3/CS5, where I want two buttons to appear side by side with say 5 pixels between each button. It's the standard iPhone stage, 320x480. I can position them vertically fine, but side by side, the second button overlaps the first.
The first button, [Twitter], begins at position 10, and is painted out to 200 pixels from the right side of the stage. that is 190 pixels wide.I want the second button to begin 200 out from the left, and be painted for hmmmm 190 pixels. Too wide. Ok, adjust button widths. but you see what I mean I hope. It's probably something simple, but I can't just see it.
So really the question is, how do I get the second button to start at a position 5 pixels after the first one ends? I'll probably have to adjust the button widths so they both fit, but that's ok, so long as they are aligned left, and say 5 pixels apart[code]...
I am making an app where people upload a bunch of images and it thumbnails them and saves them to the server. Is it better to create thumbnails from the uploaded images, or to upload them to the server then re-download the thumbnails?
My question is: Set parentSprite.visible = false will make all children in parentSprite all invisible, right? And is there any way to just make parentSprite itself invisible without effecting it's children?
I want to click on an object and make it appear and disappear. As the object is rectangular, I figured putting a white button the same size on a white background on a layer underneath the object would do this, but I can't seem to make it happen.I'm a complete novice, frustrated as I've been trying to achieve this all day and I'm sure it should be pretty simple, but could you give me the idiots guide. I know how to name an instance, make an object, script in actions on a separate layer. I would like to draw the button myself and give it an instance rather than drag it off the button component (as I can't work out how to make the component button white, change its size etc.!)
When the checkbox (cb1) is clicked the "my_Dyn_Txt1" is visible. The problem I'm having is - when I move forwad and back in my frames the checkboxes which were clicked are not visible due to

I am trying to get some words from xml and put them an the stage side by side in the center of the stage. I achieved this by the code below. I auto resize textfield according to text inside. But this time there comes space between words. What I accomplish is to have autoresized and adjacent words without space between them.
