ActionScript 2.0 :: List All The Files Inside A Specific Folder Using Flash 8

I was wondering if it was possible to list all the files inside a specific folder using Flash 8 Action Script. Just that I have an image gallery that has all the image names in an array. What I would like to do instead is get the image names from the folder they are in. Is something like this possible without the use of a server side programming language like PHP since the flash file will not be on a PHP server.

I'm trying to get the name of every files from a specific folder into an array, but I get this error and I can't find why...

i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
"E:DataProcessors.swf"
not found but i have those lib files on
"E:in-debugDataProcessors.swf"..
what could be the possible errors.

I'm on a project where the main SWF loads some other swf file and show them. I told my boss that AS3 need the exact path and name of the file to load it, that it can't list a folder and take everything in! I'm almost totally sure I'm right ! I'm not talking about a php script that list the folder and send variable to flash.

I want to embed all xml files of a given folder. For now I'm doing something like this:
[Embed(source="../somefolder/file1.xml", mimeType="application/octet-stream")]
private var MyClass1:Class;
[Embed(source="../somefolder/file2.xml", mimeType="application/octet-stream")]
private var MyClass2:Class;
[Code]....
The list of XML files will grow to 10+ files, so I'm looking for a more elegant and dynamic way to embed those files.
The files should be embedded on compilation, to load them via URLLoader is not an option.

I have a flash player which play mp3 files from xml. at now mp3 files are downloadable with software like internet download manager. if i move mp3 files to out of www and change xml location attribute to '../mp3filename.mp3' player can not play mp3. my question are
1) flash file can access files out of root folder
2) what is best way to protect files from download?

I recently got the following code from one of your tutorials and am wondering why it is that when I try to change the .jpg images to .png images, the images no longer appear in the swf file. Does flash no allow .png files to be loaded.The reason that I need the files to be png is because the have to have a transparent backgroung.[code].....

I am having problems with building my webpage with Flash. I have imported the the swf files I want in my library but when I try to put them into folders my computer seems to seize up and takes a few minutes to do the job and can be very slow and I am unable to anything on PC while it is doing this. I have not incounted this problem before on my PC but I have had it for over 5 years now and I am due to buy a new PC in spring next year when Windows 7 is released on all new PCs. I am using windows XP with all the updates available plus upgraded to 1GB memory last year. Is my PC to old to work with FLASH CS3 or is it another problem entirely?

I am using a local computer and will only be running the flash app on locals. I want users to have access to a gallery which I built with xml and to be able to add to the gallery. I thought I could do it with an append child to the xml but flash cant write to file. I was going to use filereference and then save the file in the flash folder and add the new object to the xml file, but this is the wrong route.

I want to create a flash app where the site owner can simply put images in a folder, and the flash app finds all the images in the folder, and will display a slide show from them.
Is there any way to list all files in a folder, so I can load them without prior knowledge of their names? I'd prefer not to have to tell a dumb customer what an XML file is and how to edit it, and also the images need to keep their original names so I can get titles for the images from the names.

i am trying to create a flash movie for my browser page. i am able to import and export the movie just fine, the problem comes after i export the movie. As long as i leave the flash file in the folder it was created in things work great. If i try to move the folder or rename the folder it stops working. It acts like it cant find the flv file i created the flash with. if i rename or move the folder back where it was created things work fine.
