I recently got the following code from one of your tutorials and am wondering why it is that when I try to change the .jpg images to .png images, the images no longer appear in the swf file. Does flash no allow .png files to be loaded.The reason that I need the files to be png is because the have to have a transparent backgroung.[code].....
View 9 RepliesI'm programming using the SWT Widget Library for Java in eclipse, and I'm designing a runnable Java application. I've got the application down, I just don't know how to load external .swf files from a folder on "ALL" computers. I can load Images from any computer, because I use the getResourceAsStream line of code. But the "import com.docuverse.swt.flash.FlashPlayer" "loadMovie(arg, arg)" only takes a String.
So I did ClassName.class.getResource("blah.swf").getPath(); which gives you a string, I set it up, and running it on eclipse it can perfectly find the file in the package. When I export it, the runnable Jar I made cannot find the "blah.swf" inside of the .jar file.So there is my problem, how do I load my .swf files from within the .jar or from an external folder so clients can download along side the .jar executable application, so it can point to those swf files.
i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
"E:DataProcessors.swf"
not found but i have those lib files on
"E:in-debugDataProcessors.swf"..
what could be the possible errors.
I have this script (below) that picks out the files from a folder and loads them into the swf without saying specifically what the filenames are. At the moment they load in 1 at a time, how can I make it so they all load at once in a horizontal row with a whote gap between each of them?The whole point of this is so the user can just upload files to a folder and not have to touch any script etc.The plan is to put them into an infinate menu (that part is ready, its just the first bit thats causing me problems).

I'm working on an image gallery in Flash that plays a slideshow of different images I have on my hard drive. I've got the basics of it working, but I'm still stuck on something. If my images are in the same folder as the Flash project file or a sub-folder of it, then it works fine. However, I can't figure out how to load images from some other folder. In my case, the Flash project is located at "~/Programming/Flash/Projects/slideshow/" and the images I want to load are at "~/Pictures/Gallery/". Using a normal path didn't work so I figured I could access them with a file:// path, but that doesn't work either gives me "Error #2035: URL Not Found"). Is there a specific way you have to format the file path in Flash, or is it just not possible?

I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

Ok this is what I would like to do. My project I am working on has an app that will upload image files to a specific folder on my server what I would like to do is have it load all the files in that folder through flash without me having to manually add the names of the files into the coding if possible.
I can create an image slideshow but I have to put in each and every .jpg and such I would prefer not to do that as in the future there may be more then 5-10 images.
In addition I already have the app created that uploads files.
1 is there a way to load an external mp3 file randomly from a list of files in a folder? is there a "rand" function (as in php) or something to get random numbers?
2 how can I display the ID3 tags?
My Flash app doesn't work in FireFox (but works in IE). The problem I know is associated to loading external SWF and JPG files when using a BASE folder. Without the base folder it works fine. Here is some syntax I use:

I have an app that "loadmovies" a slideshow.swf in a sub-folder. THis sub-folder also contains an xml file and numbered jpgs.But when I run the main app, and click on the button to load the sub SWF files, the images do not appear. I assume it is a directory issue.
But if I run the slideshow.swf directly from it's folder, the images appear fine.I am using the xml_photogallery from this site for the main actionscript, is there something I can change here to point to the jpgs path?

i have been working with a few basic flash presentation to learn the ropes. However, I am working on a flash file which, when compiled, pulls in flash content from elsewhere in the Parent folder. I have read through the FAQ and cannot find the answer, as there doesn't seem to be any Actionscript which handles the importing of these external files.
Are there other methods that I am unaware of? I need to edit these other files, however I find it more beneficial to first understand how the Flash file is compiled before editing.
I've been using flash functionality in order to fill in dynamic text variable with an external data. The script works fine, except that now runs very slow - around 30 seconds or so.

how can i make a flash movie, have a loading bar for a movie being loaded into it, but also for the content in the main movie.
and have both the percentages in the same loading bar.
i.e.
main = 25%

i dont want a loading bar in each of the movies being loaded in?
something like _level1._getBytesLoaded() or something?
i think i tried it before but since _level1 hadnt even began to load it disregarded it and assumed it was done..

I am having trouble trying to use actionscript to load different files when different values are changed. I am currently using a tilelist and they have different values so the code is something like this: (the title is just there, non-related)

I want to embed all xml files of a given folder. For now I'm doing something like this:

The list of XML files will grow to 10+ files, so I'm looking for a more elegant and dynamic way to embed those files.
The files should be embedded on compilation, to load them via URLLoader is not an option.
I have a flash player which play mp3 files from xml. at now mp3 files are downloadable with software like internet download manager. if i move mp3 files to out of www and change xml location attribute to '../mp3filename.mp3' player can not play mp3. my question are
1) flash file can access files out of root folder
2) what is best way to protect files from download?

I have imported the the swf files I want in my library but when I try to put them into folders my computer seems to seize up and takes a few minutes to do the job and can be very slow and I am unable to anything on PC while it is doing this. I have not incounted this problem before on my PC but I have had it for over 5 years now and I am due to buy a new PC in spring next year when Windows 7 is released on all new PCs. I am using windows XP with all the updates available plus upgraded to 1GB memory last year. Is my PC to old to work with FLASH CS3 or is it another problem entirely?
View 3 RepliesI am using a local computer and will only be running the flash app on locals. I want users to have access to a gallery which I built with xml and to be able to add to the gallery. I thought I could do it with an append child to the xml but flash cant write to file. I was going to use filereference and then save the file in the flash folder and add the new object to the xml file, but this is the wrong route.

Just that I have an image gallery that has all the image names in an array. What I would like to do instead is get the image names from the folder they are in. Is something like this possible without the use of a server side programming language like PHP since the flash file will not be on a PHP server.
