May 1, 2009The desired affect is simple: I have a single button... with each click I want it to load text into a dynamic text field and load a corresponding picture or movieclip.There are only three unique text/image combinations- after its displayed the third, with the next click I want it to just start over. All the text functions perfectly with each click.
The problem is:I use "createEmptyMovieClip" then use the resulting clip as a loader clip.. With the first click I want a movieclip from the library to load, so I use the "attachMovie" method- it displays the first library fine.With the next click I want to load an external swf- so I call the "loadMovie" method of the loaderclip... The external swf loads just fine replacing the first library clip.The third clip is where I have problems... now I want to load another library item into the loaderclip... so I tried using the attachMovie method again but the external swf remains static... then with the next click, I discover the first library item no longer loads and the external swf remains still playing- it's like once it's been loaded into the loaderclip it cant be moved...
So I tried adding the "unloadMovie" method in the code for the third click.. it successfully removed the swf... but the next line of code immediately after the unload statement, doesn't work. The line calls the attachMovie method for the loaderclip... but the library item doesnt load... Oddly enough, with the next click, the first library item now does load as if everything's fine... It seems like you cant use the unloadMovie and attachMovie on the same executing code? if that makes any sense... the basic idea was that if I couldnt get the attachmovie method to replace the loaded external swf, then I would use the unload method to remove it, then have code immediately after, to then execute the attachMovie method... but it still doesnt load the library clip. and I know it's not a type-o, because when I comment out the loadMovie and unloadMovie statements, it loads both the library items perfectly ? Jul 16, 2009I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?

Scrolling Images With Dynamic Text Box?
Mar 17, 2009 My boss wanted me to make scrolling images and captions for each image when you rollover them. I made the images scroll by making each image a button and masking those images. I can't seem to get the captions right though.The dynamic text box I am using is inside the mask (because I cannot figure out how to put it on the main time line and make it work). The rollovers work when the dynamic text box is in the mask, but when I scroll through the images, the text scrolls too and some of the captions you cannot even see. I figured that what I need to do is put the dynamic text box on the main time line and not in the mask. But I can't seem to get that to work.Here is the code I am putting on the actual image buttons. My text box instance name is rOver and yes, I did embed the fonts.

I have a home page with 5 different buttons on the top menu.
1. Home
2. News
3. Tips
and a few more.
Upon my home page loading, I have a dynamic text box with the welcome text which is populated by my xml file, here is my code for AS2:

What I want to do is load the news and tips text into the same dynamic text box on the home page when the news or tips button is clicked, so I don't have to load a whole new swf for each category thus making the site faster.
What code would I have to use to clear the text from the xml file and how would I load my new text upon clicking the button?

Jun 1, 2010I cant load and external text file into my dynamic text box...when i trace the loaded var it can be found, but when it's loaded inside the text box, the value that appears is really strange.i tried to load the vars into the MC and on a level, the result is the same, it can be traced but does not appear correctly on the textbox..the code i used is here..i made a text box with about_us instance name, loaded the variables and tried to load my text inside it by setting the text property of the textbox but as u will see...

We want it to setup so that when a user clicks a link (such as "HOME") it will access text from a .txt file and load it into the dynamic text box. We want all of the links ("HOME", "PERSONNEL", "RECRUITS", "CONTACT US") to load their text from a seperate .txt file into that same dynamic text box.

Jan 18, 2005When a user enters the website, it will pull text from some location (possibly an XML file) and load it into a text field. The trick is that I want it to randomly load a different chunk of text in each time the user opens the site. There are about 25 different small pieces of text I want to randomly load.
I'm thinking of using XML to store the 25 different text sentences, but am open to other ideas.

Aug 17, 2009I have a project where I'm loading some HTML into an HTML-enabled dynamic textbox, along with some images, using the img tag. The problem I have is that no matter what I do, the text tries to flow down one side of the image (depending on whether I have the image set to align 'left' or 'right'). I don't want this. I want the text to sit under the image, not flow around the side. I've tried everything I can think of, and I just can't seem to achieve this.

The text is visible on publishing, but the images are not, even though if I view html page on its own in a browser, the images are there... so the question is, how can I make my images show up? My research indicates that Flash Player does support <img> tags.

May 11, 2007FYI: I'm following the Flash Blogger tutorials listed on [URL] with Flash 8. I've noticed that everything works wonderfully as far as bringing the blog content into the dynamic text field; however, my only problem at the moment is Blogger will automatically resize my images, so it doesn't mess up the current template in html, but of course, Flash does not (out of the box).
I need a way to define the width & height of the images in the text field to fit inside the dynamic text field they're in. As far as I can tell, the tutorials listed on that site use an alternate method and don't actually resize them. Lastly, I thought about using CSS to adjust the img size, but from what I gather there are very few items at my disposal.

First set of data loads fine into respectable fields from XML, however buttons are not changing data on click. Working in Flash 8 using standard XML format. I have traced succesfully. Sep 7, 2010I'm working on a project and attempting to create a dynamic news page by loading from an XML file. Everything seems to display fine for some people, for others it loads every dynamic text field with an instance path such as "_level0.instance1.instance30.instance45.contentMa in.Body1".
It should look like this:
