my next experiments consist on loading a movie/ or gotoframe on a hyperlink with html text that i load from a .txt file.i mean this such type of html code

visit the site<a href="http://test.com" target="_self"><font color = "#FF9933"> for more info so basicly my intention is, to refer to a hyperlink but just go to a "frame" or load a movie. where you have in your FLA some more info about the site you are going to enter again, i am just experimenting with these things, it has no real purpose but it would be considered nice if it really could work.
I'm using Flash MX 2004, and using the loadMovie() function to draw an external .swf file into a blank movieclip. My question is how the browser (let's assume Internet Explorer) caches this information. I know that after a Flash movie is loaded within an HTML page, the browser caches it, so that on the next load the movie appears nearly instantly from the cache. However, does it also cache the movie loaded using loadMovie(), or does it always redownload that external movie regardless?
I have 2 flash files,one is mine (the main container) and one is a external swf.I want to load the external SWF to my container SWF.I write this code in my AS2 container, inside the main timeline flash (mine flash).In the first method, I add a movie clip with instance name mc1 to the first layer:
I really try to use that code - BUT !!! -> if I use this code the external SWF predominant, my main SWF code and all the rest of my code dosen't work (like the setInterval() timer).... I want to load the SWF like the second example and still run the setInterval() function.
How can I replace text loaded from an external file with text from another external file? Using setInterval and calling the .load from a function or something? In the example below I'm calling an external text file, could this also work with an .xml file with cycling through the children?
I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.
I'm loading a external text file to flash and according to the number present in the text file i'm trying to do a IF - ELSE command. It's not working coz the value I load from the external file is string. How can i get this as intiger.
Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.

I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. I cant load and external text file into my dynamic text box...when i trace the loaded var it can be found, but when it's loaded inside the text box, the value that appears is really strange.i tried to load the vars into the MC and on a level, the result is the same, it can be traced but does not appear correctly on the textbox..the code i used is here..i made a text box with about_us instance name, loaded the variables and tried to load my text inside it by setting the text property of the textbox but as u will see...
I have an application that combines words introduced by the user to create new words. I would like to be able to save the resulting combinations into an external txt file.
but i just can't figure it out. I've made a website in flash, with a button. The purpose is when you click one button, a portfolio will open. This portfolio is xml driven and i've got the FLA file and the SWF file.
But.. when i put the portfolio FLA file in my website timeline it won't work, and when i try to use the SWF file instead and connect it to the button using AS2.. it won't work at all. The last option i used the following AS2 codes and put the code on the button frame.. that didn't work (not at the same time offcourse ):

This last code did work.. but for some strange reason this last code loaded the SWF again and again...
Is there someone who knows what i'm doing wrong? I just want that the portfolio opens when you click on the button.. and opens in a container with certains measures.
I am working in Flash CS4 (AS3).What I have created is basically a simple photo gallery. About 5 thumbs that when rolled over a larger version appears. Both the thumbnail images and larger images are loading dynamically.I've got that working.What it's missing is a headline and a sub headline for each pic that comes up. I need to do this from an external text file.
I was able to do this with AS2.AS3 not so much. How do I control the content of multiple dynamic text boxes on different places throughout the timeline with an external text file in AS3? I just want to name different text boxes different names and have the external text file pass the variables into my swf for each text box.
I'm sure this is an easy fix but for some reason I cannot get the text field to accept HTML coding when I'm loading the text in. I have the Render Text as HTML (<>) button checked but still nothing happens. Here's the code I'm using:

This is my first time ever constructing a web site ONLY using Flash 8. I normally just use elements here and there, and I am totally confused. I need to do is load an external swf into a movieclip and make sure it stays within a certain size.
1. How do I make it a set size? Instead of it inheriting the root timeline height/widht. ie: my main movie is 900 x 900 the external swf is 700 x 500 and there are mouse moves that rely on the 700 x 500 boundaries.
2. How do I make this: loadMovie("external.swf", "load_mc"); utilize MovieClipLoader?

I've got a problem loading an external text file into a text field.The text field is named: myTextField_txt.It's Dynamic and multiline. I want it to load a text file called: myText. txt. I made a scrollbar in action script §3 all from scratch and loaded an external text file edited in text Wrangler to display in the field, and sudden all my HTMl tags are not responding though added htmText to it. I am using CS3 / AS3 to create a kiosk app. As part of the kiosk I need to create an external file that I can append with visitor comments (2 text fields and 2 radio buttons). These would then be approved by a museum administrator and copied over to another text file that gets read into the kiosk and displayed. I'm not having any trouble reading in an external file, but I'm finding so many conflicting things about writing an external file with AS3.
