how to lock the mouse to the center of the drag object but instead of the center of the object moves towards the mouse its the mouse who's going to move towards the center of the object? This

locks the mouse to the center but its kind of annoying to see the object jumping specially if the object is big.

iam planning to make a flashgame that requires the player to aim with his mouse. so there will be a crosshair. now i have the problem that whenever the mouse leaves the embedded flash stage and clicks outside this frame.. the player has to click in the flash field again to be able to play again. that sucks. is it possible in flash to lock the mouse in the gamewindow?

I've done some research and determined that it isn't currently possible to lock the mouse into a flash application/game. People keep suggesting using fullscreen mode, which is great for a single monitor solution. However, I am developing applications that use 2 or more monitors, and require the mouse to be restricted to certain ones. Is it possible, when running flash in full screen mode, to restrict the mouse to staying inside the full screen app, so that it can't move to and click on other monitors?I am using AS3.I am also running these flash applications in Adobe AIR, if that makes any difference.

I am using the Loader object to load an image into my flash file. The problem is that, the image file is being copied over from a server to the local machine by some other software, and my flash file tries the load that image while it is still being copied over. The result is that the file is sometimes corrupted.Sometimes the whole image loads, sometimes only half of it, or just a few pixels.. it varies everytime.

I am making an animation that shows roughly how an airplane's localizer works. (It is a guage in the cockpit that tells you the angle of the plane) This explanation might be a bit hard to follow, bear with me. Anyway, when the user moves the mouse side to side, the verticle line on the guage moves side to side. And when the users moves the mouse up and down the horizontal line moves up and down. I have set up limits to how far these lines can move in the guage. The problem I am having is that when you move the mouse in one direction, the coresponding line hits its limit and stops, but if you keep moving the mouse in that direction, stop, and then move the mouse in the opposite direction, the line begins tracking immediately from that point, so now your mouse location is off center from where it should be.
So, is there a way to also limit the active area on the screen so that mouse movement only registers in that area?

I have been working on this and thinking about it for days but I just can't seem to get it right. I want to have a circle that I can "pick up" with the mouse and then rotate (with the rotation point in the center). Currently I have done this with the following code:

circle.rotation = degrees + 90;
I have added a mouse listener for movement to the circle mc and then checked if a button was down. On button down this code would be executed on enter frame. This code works but the main problem is that I want to be able to "pick the circle up" at any angle and rotate it. If I pick it up with this code the circle automatically rotates to 90 degrees.

I am using Action Script 3.0 to animate an instance (MovieClip class) to follow the mouse positron the thing is, the left corner of the instance follows the mouse courser. Now there is a cross on the to left corner and my guess would be that the mouse follows that cross, but i can not change the position of the cross within the instance/ original object. Does anyone know how to make the center of that instance follow the mouse cursor?

I created a movie where I have a circle in the middle and a line drawing from the center out when the mouse moves. I want to calculate the distance from the mouse position to the middle of the circle. What I am going to do is have a sound playing from the center of the ball..The closer you get the louder the sound gets and the further away from the middle the quieter it gets. I have a circle with 8 dots around the edge of it. Based on the center of the circle and the mouse's location, I want the dot that the mouse is closest to, to get bigger. I've got this so far ActionScript Code: angle = Math.atan2(rt.mouseY - y, rt.mouseX - x); But I'm getting some weird quadrant values returned that are between -3 and 3. Is there a way to know which degree out of a 360 circle my mouse is at in regards to the center of the circle?

I'm having toruble with an image that I zoom into in flash. I got everything to work, only I want the clicked X and Y coordinats to center to the stage. ( so that the area clicked on always zooms in and position the area clicked to the middle of the stage) the image is a movieclip and it zooms with a tween, but i tried everything but the image wont center the stage..
does anyone have a clue for wich actionscript 3 code I can use to do this?

I want to make a fluid layout for the website I'm working on right now. I know the basic concepts of how to center an object and keep it there, or how to stick a shape to the top or bottom... etc. But if there's a movieclip that I would like it to conserve its position proportionally as the visitor resizes the stage, how can I do that?

I'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3.0. What I want is simple, and I've done some searching but nothing that can get me the right results.I'm going to post a link that does exactly what I want: http:[url]......This rotates the circular object around a center point in a way that you can distort the object yet is still remains turning in a circular motion. A simple motion tween rotating the image will only work if the object is perfectly round, so distorting the object to make it more straight or curved won't work with a simple tween. I want to do exactly what is happening here (with my own object), is there some AS3 behind the scenes here making this turn on a center point?

So I have that panel or any other mxml component. I have a situation where i have a horizontal scrolling container that has a video object inside it. the video object has to stay inside the scrolling content for another reason i don't want to get into here. Now the client wants me to keep the video in the center of the stage even when the clip its inside of is scrolling. Normally I would just take it out of the scrolling clip and place it above the scrolling content but i cant do that here. I tried this math but it didn't work exactly. on an enter frame when the video is open I have this code;

I am just getting back into using Flash after not using it for about 5 years. I'm having an issue with the simplest thing! I want to be able to type pixel values into the Properties panel to transform/resize an object from the OBJECT CENTER as reference point. If I use the transform tool, it uses the center of the object as the reference. However, if I do as above and type values into the Properties width/height, the object transforms with the top left corner as reference. If I need two or more objects sized exactly the same, or if I want to do a "zoom in" effect, using the transform tool is very ineffecient!
My object seems to be showing that the center is set as the reference point (white circle in center of object). Also, the objects I am working with are jpg's and psd's imported to the library, and made into movie clip symbols.

I have a TargetCirlce_mc which moves on "y" axis from top to bottom. And I have an arrow_mc which is on x:100 & y:200. How can I shoot an arrow exactly on the registration point of the TargetCircle_mc (automatically) while it is exactly opposite to the arrow_mc?

I have two MC's on the stage. One of them is standing still in one position, the second one is moving towards it. I want the moving mc stop right at the very centre of the first mc. I've tried using hitTestPoint, but I don't know how to set the proper parameters. If I put there just: mc1.hitTestPoint(mc2.width / 2, mc2.height / 2, true), the trace function I use doesn't seem to have even noticed the collision...

I have had some help but still not understanding this.
How can I scale an object from center after it is dragged by the user?
Currently I have this:

With this code the movieclip jumps back to the center of the stage each time I call the scaleClip() (move the slider). I would like the object to scale from it's own center regardless of where it is on the stage.

I am making a small tool for making simple T-Shirts designs. Everything is perfect except that I don't manage to rotate an item the way I want. I am makeing everything from ActionScript. When I load an image on the design it is added to the stage. I have an object called "ImageView" that extends MovieClip. It has some properties and some methods (ex kill() that removes the object and all associated listeners). In this object I also add the image that is loaded from a location. When I click on the item another object "Transformer" is added on the stage. It surrounds the ImageView and adds some controls for rotating and scaling the image.
My problem is when I rotate the ImageView. It rotate according to (0,0) (obviously). What I want is to be able to rotate it according to the center of the ImageView. A solution is to set the picture inside the ImageView in such a way that (0,0) is the center of the picture. But I try to avoid this since it will cause some problems (that will requiere more coding) at "TextView" (a class that has text instead of an image).

this is sort of a cross post (yes AND sorry), but I realized that it makes more sense to post it here than in FlashMX - so the moderators are welcome the first post. What I'm trying to do is gradually minimize an object, when dragged into a certain area. Let's say I have a box and when it is dragged away from the center it becomes gradually smaller.
