ActionScript 2.0 :: Move To A Frame Labeled "highlight" On Rollover And To A Frame Labeled "unhighlight" On Rollout
Mar 13, 2010
I have 5 instances of a movie clip that need to move to a frame labeled "highlight" on Rollover and to a frame labeled "unhighlight" on Rollout. On Release each needs to get a different URL. I got it working, but the script is pretty repetitive. Can someone show me how to shorten the script by creating a function or something similar that would handle the rollover and rollout part? Code for two of the movie clips below.
I've got a button that I want to use to jump to a labeled frame within the timeline. When I click on the button I can't get my trace statement to work. The error message I get is: Error 1061: call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with a static type flash.display:SimpleButton BtnDone is the instance of the button on the stage, btn1867 is the frame label I want to jump to once the button is clicked.
Here's the code: stop(); btnDone.addEventListner (MouseEvent.CLICK,clickSection); function clickSection (evtObj:MouseEvent) { //trace action - what's happening in output window trace("The button 1867 was clicked!") gotoAndStop("btn1867"); }
In my file, I have an introduction playing over and over. When someone hits the "K" button, I need the file to immediately go to and play a frame labeled "waterdepth". What am I missing below? I keep getting an error saying that "keyboard event cannot be loaded."
I have a MovieClip with several labeled animations on it's timeline. When I made the MovieClip I leaved extra frames between each labeled animation, to see things better and to better read the labels. Everything worked just fine, but then I needed to dispatch an event when each labeled section of the animation was done, so I trimmed out the extra frames (which were completely empty... no code, no drawings, nothing) and placed a dispatchEvent(); and a stop(); function on the last frame of each labeled section of the animation...
And this is when my problem occurred: the animation stops at a specific frame within each animation each time I play it. There is no code on that frame, the symbol doesn't run out of frames, or whatnot. I have cancelled all the code that I could to simplify things, and it still doesn't work. I tried adding back the extra frames, cutting out the action frames(so sort of undoing manually to the point that it last worked), but it still stops in the middle of each animation... If I could roll back to before this happened I would try not cutting out the extra frames and just placing the action frame where the animation ends, but I can't...
Given an array of strings, how would i get an array of different textfield Objects, labeled with that string? WITHOUT explicitly defining every single Object. My idea was to create an array with textfield objects, and then assign the strings in a loop. But how do I create such an array?
I'm trying to load a value from a .php file labeled $average into a dynamic textbox. I'm using this code to accomplish this, but I only get "undefined" in my textbox. Can anybody see if there's anything wrong or just a syntax error, or anything..
I have my entire site layout in Flash CS4 and using AS3. I was able to successfully segment the site with labels, add UI Loaders to desired sections to make the site smaller and work faster, I was able to put a close button above the UI Loader, which closes it and brings a user back to a designated section of the site.
And then I encountered a problem. I have a few images in each UI Loader which I would like to function as buttons and also bring the user to the desired section on the main site, however it seems to be a problem that the buttons are located inside the UI Loader I can not figure out how to jump out of the loader to the main site.
Is there a specific code for it or the whole layout has to be somehow restructured?
I want to display a uncommon layout into a HTML Textfield, using AS3/Flash CS4. This is what I need to create, is it possible? [URL]... I have tried some CSS styles, but I didn't found any way to align a span to the left. TLF is out of my range, the related project is closed to CS4, but if it is the only way, someone tell me!
well i want to make buttons that on rollover move to left, on rollout move back to their initial position, and if clicked, they but stay this time at the final rollover place, and be there until something else is clicked. When something else is clicked, the previous button , returns to its initial place. So i ve got it all figured out except for the freeze and move part when the buttons are clicked. All it does now , is when they are clicked they freeze at the position i want, but i havent got a clue how to update them, after so they start moving back, and reacting on rollover and rollout, when the next button is clicked.
Im making an interactive video menu system in flash cs5, Ive split each menu page into labeled sections along the timeline. I have the following code placed in a specific labeled section so it should jump to the "Directory Screen" when the 3 key is pressed:
But when it goes to the Directory Screen, if I press 3 again it shouldnt do anything but flash seems to remember the code and when I press 3 again on the "Directory Screen" it skips to the next labeled item for some reason.
I want to have a few menu buttons on my web page (home, about, contact etc.) and above them a bar (we'll call it 'grey bar' to make it a little easier to understand). When you roll over one of the buttons I want a small 'orange bar' to run along the 'grey bar' and stay over the button that you are hovering over. Then if you choose to rollout of the button the 'orange bar' will return to the page destination button that you're on. For example, if you are on the homepage the 'orange bar' begins over the 'home' button, then if you rollover 'about us' the 'orange bar' moves along the grey bar horizonatally to stay above 'about us', if you rollout it returns to 'home'.
Sorry if this isn't making much sense, i've attached the flash file so you can see what i am working with. I am just looking for a tutorial or some actionscript that will make it work. It's driving me crazy, I don't know if i should be looking to use a startDrag function (but i don't think you can use this with a rollover function) or a way to get the bar to follow the mouse.
what i am trying to achieve is have a rollover on a button that pops up a 'window' with some text on it (i have this bit worked out) then once the user has finished reading the text they rollout from the 'window' and the image behind is restored. i have attached the .fla so you can see what i mean.
what is going wrong is that the active part of the rollover on the button is only very small and as the 'window' expands and then reveals the text, the active part of the button remains small. so when the user moves his or her mouse the 'window' disappears. i'd like it to stay open until they rollout from the entire text window.
I have created this menu with 5 buttons. The script attached to these buttons tells a movie clip to play certain sections of the clip to create the mouse over mouse out effect. The problem is if I move the cursor away too quickly the rollOut does not happen and the button is left in rollOver state.
I am trying to figure out how to make a bottom bar similar to the one seen ontions inside the bar- here's what I've got so far:as you can see I have a date/time MC inside the bar_mc which is working fine but whenever I try to have a new rollover/rollout movieclip (or button) inside the bar_mc it won't work/won't show rollover animation.
I'm still struggling with going from a loaded swf to the next frame in my timeline, where a new swf file will be loaded.Ths is my current code which is trying to move onto the next frame in my timeline is located at the end Frame of a 10 second animation:
I need some help figuring out why my rollout is not working on this menu:I put some little close buttons at the bottom just to link them closed for now.Rollout isn't working.My code for each link is a movie clip with two frames for example links on "mens"Frame 1:
On rollout I need the already ongoing movieclip to keep playing until hitting the wanted frame. Upon which the timeline will continue from another specific frame. And this, to prevent my animation from glitching between start, hold and finish while quickly hoovering the mouse over the whole thing.
I'm trying to create a rollover for a movie clip. On rollover, a line underlines the text,and when it rolls out, the underline reverses. This works fine the first time. The next time you rollover, the animation doesn't work. Then when you move the mouse off the button, a line appears under the text and doesn't go away. Here's my code on the invisible button.
What command do I enter for the movie to rewind to first frame on entering a certain frame / stopping in a frame?It's my first time using Flash, and I'm working on a double menu (second menu has a "close" button, where I want to get back to the first menu).
ive got a rollover button on frame 1with a bit of tweening i have 3 buttons stacked on top of each other on frame 20with a transparent square behind them set to rewind if hovered overthe code on frame1
I've got 3 buttons on a background and would like each to perform this:Rolllover=goto another frame to see graphic and stopRollout= go back to frame 1 and stopClick=goto URL
I am using movie clip buttons while building my own flash site, and I need to prevent the rollOver effects from being available until after a certain frame... I have the buttons "blurring" in when you first access the site, and if you rollOver the movie clip buttons before the blurring has compelted, the buttons skip straight to the rollOver effect and it looks really wrong.Here is my current movie clip buttons
code: (for rollOver): btnContact_mc.onRollOver = function () { btnContact_mc.gotoAndPlay("_over"); }
I am using Koolmoves to create a simple .swf file that allows a user to click on a picture and it moves to the next frame and stops. I created the two frames, created a button on the picture in the first frame, designated that on mouse events press and release go to frame 2 and stop. But when I play the movie, the first frame appears and then the second frame appears without any action on my part.
how I could go about pausing this timer on rollover of an object, stage... anything? I am just cycling images on the main timeline via this timer but would like the timer to pause if a user has mouse over one of the images.
I'm testing flash and decided to make an asteroids clone. It works well but all the code is loaded in the first, and only, frame.Now I want to add a preloader but I cant find the way to move the code to the second frame. I don't want to create a swf and embed it. Also there are no assets created in flash, it has been coded exclusively in flashdevelop (I find it easier to use).
