ActionScript 2.0 :: Music List Is Loaded Using Xml?
Aug 4, 2008
I am working on a music player where the music list is loaded using xml. I am using sound object and the streaming property is set to 'true'. Now I want to calculate sound.duration, but I don't get the actual value when it is streaming, probably because the entire file is not downloaded at once because of streaming, and it is returning the duration of the portion of the file downloaded. So I am unable to develop a progress bar which shows the current position of the music.I even tried to get the file duration using ID3 tag but the TIME property does not seem to work either.Another options could be using php to get the duration of the mp3 file and generate an xml file which specifies the duration of the file. But I have a little idea about php.
My purpose is do make a flash, where background music playing (from XML file list). Everything works fine. But when I press a button to load new XML file with new music list, a got output error code.
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at index_fla::MainTimeline/F_MP3_laadimine() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
I have a project where I have to load other flash movies into it as a "porfolio".So as of right now the code I have when clicking on the christmasCardBtn is [code]This is working fine to load the movie. I also have a button that appears when a movie is loaded that is coded to remove the myLoader1 child when selected. So the movie dissapears. But there are a few of my movies that have on-going sound clips. How do I make the sound turn off when the button to remove the movie is selected?I tried adding SoundMixer.stopAll(); to the button that removes the movie but this doesn't work.
I have music (.mp3) in a .swf file that I'm loading into another .swf. When I play the .swf containing the music alone the music plays, but when I load the same .swf into another .swf there is no music.[code]...
I'm using an ASP.NET server side control for playing mp3, of course I can use javascript or flash controls for doing so, but my problem is that I want the music to be played only once (at site start up), and its playing should continue when user displays new pages, I've used this control in master page, I don't want the music to be restarted whenever a new page is loaded?
I have 2 movies, one which holds a navigation menu and some music playing options, and the other which is my main movie. The main movie has an empty clip which loads the navigation and sound into it. However the music does not play in the main movie.
I want a site to have background music, but when I attach the music to the file it makes it quite large ...3 meg and the site is slow to load. Is there any way of having the music separate from the flash file and still have start stop music buttons?
I'm working on an animation where I have my "dog" fighting the evil vacuum cleaner. I got most of it to work the way I want it to.
1) I have movie clips entitled pepper_mc (where my dog is supposed to be walking), swirl (where a swirly-type symbol is supposed to spin over the dead vacuum's head), and vacuum_mc (where the evil vacuum is supposed to have a swinging arm (called vacuumarm_mc) that I created using the bone tool). When I add them to the stage and test them, the animations within the movie clips don't happen.
2) I have background music that I'd like to stop playing at the end of the animation, but I'm not sure how to do that. (using the stop(); actionscript doesn't help).Where am I going wrong? I'm using Flash Pro CS5.
Here's the file --> Pepper and the Vacuum of DOOM!
When the movies performs the getURL action, I want the music to continue playing, but the getURL function seems to stop the music at frame 152 (where the getURL action is placed), when I wanted the music to continue to frame 257 (the end of the movie). I hope I've explained this clearly
I am trying to create a music animator. It will have bars that move up and down do the beat of the music. This is like windows media player where the music animations play. I want it to be verticle bars, where some are in sync with like the base and others are in sync with the tempo. Does anyone know of a tutorial for this? I am trying to emplement it within my website so that whatever music I am playing will auto control the bars and sync.
I downloaded a flash template and have modified it to suit our company but there is something that I can't do. When the file loads in the browser, music immediately plays and loops until you click a button to stop the music. On our video page, we have video that we need to play that has sound in it. How do I get the background music to stop when my video plays without having to go up and stop the music manually. The videos are loaded via an external XML document and there are no buttons in the FLA file to link code to. the website is [URL]
I am streaming music from my site using flash, but after the 3rd music is done, it just stops. Do i have to flush something or create a new music object for each 3 songs?
I have 'Sound On' and 'Sound Off' buttons on mutiple scenes and I am playing the music loop in my flash movie by loading an external swf. When I move to the next scene the sound reloads which I do not want. How do I use an if-statement that checks whether or not the music.swf, that needs to be loaded is found and when it is found, go to a frame?
I'm loading the XML into a text field as htmlText. The StyleSheet class in Flash only supports a subset of CSS1 which debuted in 1996! and doesn't support list-style-type or list-style-image. I'd specifically like to substitute an image instead of the default disc for an unordered list. If you've had success implementing a work-around, I'd love to hear about it!
I'm working on a client's website. I use loaders to load various images and then I add them sequentially to the display list. These images include a big (BIG, ie, 6000x1500 , 220kb image) background image.. All of the images being loaded are PNG.. The site is fine and the images are fine/show up on a majority of browsers. However, after trying to view the flash file (at a .swf extension -- not embedded into html yet) on IE6 and on Chrome on only ONE of my laptops, the background .png does not appear and does not seem to have be loaded at all.
I haven't assigned loader listeners (i.e, there is no preloading).. Does the loader class have some sort of size restriction? I think not because it is working on some browsers and not on others. Otherwise, how could the actual PNG be at fault? I've temporarily fixed the problem by importing the background into my library and calling it from the actionscript but I would definitely prefer to load it dynamically or at least know why it is not happening as expected on some browsers/in some cases.
Is there any method so that I can find the List of Label in given Loaded MovieClip. I am working on a system that dynamically load SWF from other developers, since these developers has choice, they put some labels in their script. However it is upto them to use any combination of given label, so that, say one developer make labels Inanimation, OutAnimation, Endanimation
While other make OutAnimation, endanimation And third make InAnimation, Endanimation
So when my script load it should read the label on their MC so it can take action accordingly. We are not sure what Frame number they put label, and we cannot change their SWF anyways. The solution I know is I check through their FrameLabels and then take action if XXX frame exists.
I need to dinamically load some texts and gaps (input texts) from an XML file and show them in a panel. I found the documentation of panel on Adobe, how I can to automatically wrap the list of objects if the line is longer.
I'm trying to implement this for an instance of ComboBox specifically, which uses a List to display the dropdown menu full of items. Lists can have icons associated with them, as described in the documentation:
var comboBox = addChild(new ComboBox()); comboBox.dataProvider = new DataProvider([{label:'item1',iconClass:IconClass1},{label:'item2',iconClass:IconClass2}]); comboBox.dropdown.iconField = 'iconClass';
... assuming IconClass1 and IconClass2 are valid classnames of symbols in our library, this code works perfectly.
Here's my question - the contents of this ComboBox will be XML-driven, populated dynamically, and I'd really rather include that icon reference as a filename instead of a classname, so that when the whole thing is implemented, the icon can be changed in the XML without opening Flash and adding a new symbol to the library. Clients aren't generally good at that sort of thing.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to find a way to reference the container for the instance of that icon class - the ComboBox.dropdown is obviously keeping a reference to each list item somewhere, and if I can find it, I can load the icon images dynamically, then addChild them to the icon instance.
What is technical difference between buffering and loading ? Say, i have a video, which is showing loader bar in progress. Then what's happening exactly ? Buffering or Loading ?
I have a website banner made in Flash. I have added a music file to it and Play and Stop buttons. I also have a Replay button to replay the banner animation once it stops.
I have put the music on a separate frame so that it will not play automatically when the banner loads. I have made the Play button direct to the frame the music is located at so that when clicked, it will go to that frame and play the music file.
The problem I am currently having is that if I click the Play button more than once, it will play the music file again on top of the current play-through.
So if I click Play, the music will play. Then if I click it again, the music will play again, but on top of the first instance of the music, so two instances of it will now be playing and it sounds horrible.
I would like to make it so that if you click Play when the music is playing, it will not play the music again until the music has stopped.
I'm using flex 4.1 to write an application. i read in the documents that has the rowCount property to set how many items to display. the does not have that property. how can I limit the list to display 3 items ?
I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.
Creating a dynamic list and associating a picture with each list item. i need the list to be scrollable, and i want the list and it's associated picture to be displayed randomly when the application is re-launched. i.e it doesnt show the same list everytime.
I also what to be able to sort the displayed list items. e.g if the list items is about restaurants, i want users to be able to sort the displayed items by either; district, cusine type and gastro type.
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.
The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.
I want to add a SimpleButton to a list item in a list component. I am getting the CellRenderer for the list item I want and using the addChild method to add the simple button. The button appears in the right spot on the list item but it doesn't function like a button. It's like the contents of the buttons first frame is added to the CellRenderer and nothing else.
When a user selects a category from the first drop down box then i want the 2nd drop down to be updated based on the selection of the first drop down. I have created multiple ArrayCollections whose names are set to the "data" values of the first drop down, for instance:
[Bindable] public var countries:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {label:"USA",data:"USA"},
Why I have to press 2 times the arrow key down to get a navigation through the list items in a list component of Flash?
Theres any workaround for this? I have a listener for keyboard event that checks if keyCode is equal to 40 if it is then I use 'stage.focus = list', but I have to press 2 times key arrow down to start navigating through list items.
