ActionScript 2.0 :: Pulls A Session Id From A Server Via SendAndLoad?

Jul 13, 2006

I hope someone has an answer for this and that it hasn't been asked before. I have been trying to figure out how to solve this most of the day. Anyway, I have some code that pulls a session id from a server via sendAndLoad, then does a getURL to launch a browser window with a webserver location and some php variables after it, like this:

Flash :: Connecting To A Secure Server From Media Server Via Xml.sendAndLoad?

Jun 24, 2009

I have inherited a custom application on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0 that broadcasts audio in real time. The custom app is written using Adobe Flash Professional 8 and actionscript 2.0.

A little background of how the custom app works When a user connects to the media server to join a stream, our custom application calls out to a seperate application server (that is not Flash) to determine if the user is allowed to connect to a broadcast stream and which stream they should join. We use Xml.sendAndLoad() to do this. The application server we call sends back Xml to the custom App on the Flash Media Server.

Media Server :: Core Process Restart/re-cycle Have An Impact On Fso/flv Of Running Session?

Apr 21, 2010

I came across a very strange issue. There was a session in which no fso has been recorded. It was a session of around 110min with more then 10 users as per the logs. Flv have been recorded for the session and I can see the chat text file which has been written from server side script but no fso has been recorded for the whole session. While cross checking the logs access log and Master log i saw that the last message recorded on that particular session was around 14:47 and in master log i see following lines:

2010-04-18 14:52:56 52768 (i)2581223 Core (56012) is no longer active. -2010-04-18 14:52:56 52768 (w)2581256 Core (56012) _defaultRoot_:_defaultVHost_:::_0 experienced 1 failure[s]! 56012 is the core process on which this session was running. So is it somehow related? I mean no fso being recorded on server with core recycling? In access log these are the last 2 messages on this core:disconnect session 2010-04-18 14:52:20 Central Daylight Time 186.24.19.5 56012connect session 2010-04-18 14:52:46 Central Daylight Time 186.24.19.5 56012 FMS server version is:FMS is 3.0.2Windows server 2003.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loader Class Pulls In External Information?

Apr 30, 2010

I have a question about the loader class.I was reading some of the documentation on the follow web page:http:[url]....And I didn't get very far before I had my first question about how the loader class pulls in external information:

Quote:The loaded display object is added as a child of the Loader object.

Question one: By "display object" they are referring to your external content (.swf / .jpg / .mp3) correct?

Question two: "is added as a child of the Loader object" Dose this mean that you could define one instance of the loader class, and then have several URLRequests that plug into that one loader class.So in other words can you have multiple forms of content from different directory's being loaded through ONE loader class instance?I'm a visual person so I mapped my current understanding of this process in the follow Img.

Data Integration :: Create A Slideshow That Pulls Information From A Database?

Apr 22, 2011

I want to create a slideshow banner that will showcase our products. The slideshow will contain the image of the product, the name, the price, the item code and the link when someone clicks on it. Each week we update the best sellers and it can be from 5 to 15 different products. Similar to what we have now in our website www.deiequipment.com which now is static, we want to animate it and rotate the products like a slideshow.The problem we are encountering is that we have to manually update the slideshow content.

We would like to know if there is a way through scripting or catalyst to connect to a database and simply update all these fields automatically. So for example if the database has 5 items, automatically will pre-fill each field listed above and the slideshow will have 5 products.

If we update the database now with 10 products, to update automatically. That way we can create 1 slide show, the time it takes to rotate to the next product, and add simple button controls to the slide show for next and back that will simply go through the loaded items.I tried to do a research on how to do it online but some takes me to scripting, others to catalyst dabases, but none are specific to what I need.As a note, the image will just be an image holder that will be updated with the image field in the database that points to the URL location of the image.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A News Rotator That Pulls Info And Images From A XML File

Nov 10, 2009

I am trying to create a news rotator that pulls info and images from an XML file.I made something similar a while back which pulled just the headlines which worked great and I am trying to adapt this same idea to a current project. pull all the info from the XML and push them into separate arrays based on the type of information it is. ie title, description, image etc.From there I have a function which is supposed to display the all of the info and another which cycles through it based on a timer.Like I said before, this worked great with just the headlines, but when trying to add images its getting thrown off. The function which intends to parse the data and pushing it into separate arrays.

Code:
function onLoaded(evt:Event):void {
xml = new XML(evt.target.data);
var il:XMLList = xml.channel.item;

[code]....

I'm aware that it has something to do with either how the info for the images is being parsed (or not), and/or how I am going about displaying it.I was able to write a separate function which displayed one image as intended, but then wouldn't cycle through as the news changed.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Pulls An XML Feed From A Site - Display A Number In A Dynamic Text Box

May 19, 2011

I have an AS3 file that pulls an XML feed from a site. All the file does is display a number in a dynamic text box. On my desktop it works fine the feed is parsed in the output window and in the dynamic text box, joy! I upload the file to the CMS we are using and, no joy all I get is 'Loading' in the window. I get Loading because I input that in the tf so it wouldn't be blank.

So the question is, is there a fundamental flaw in my code or is it more likely to be the CMS? Im hoping it is the code, otherwise it is back to the drawing board.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Horizontal Scroller, That Pulls Images From An XML Document, And Scrolls Them Infinitely?

May 9, 2008

Im trying to make a horizontal scroller, that pulls images from an XML document, and scrolls them infinitely.I have 2 problems with this and I have been looking everywhere for a tutorial, or example that shows how to do this and I always find something that is close to what I want but not quite.Here is what I have so far:

Code:
var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var mcListener:Object = new Object();[code]....

What I'm wanting to do is instead of using 490 (underlined), I want to be able to get the width of each loaded image so that I can line up the next image right up against it regardless of its width (490 just happens to be the width of all of them right now).I'm trying to use the onLoadInit() function, but I know I'm doing something wrong. When I try and trace my mainLoader variable, it traces the right amount of times, but they are all the last object in the group.What do I need to do to be able to get the widths of each image as it loads, then use that variable to position the next image right after it?

also (a semi unrelated help request), what I'm doing right now is loading them ALL in creating one giant line of images, then loading in another giant line of images and just alternating between the 2 each time one is almost to the end of its length. Is there a better way to do this so that only the right amount will load, and scroll, at the beginning adding the one right before it enters stage, and as they move off stage they are removed, then when it's near the end it just adds the first one back to the end?

The method that I was using in past projects is like this (AS2 > PHP > MySQL):

This method is unsafe since it sends data to PHP with a GET method, the URL string insertDB.php?Name=Jonh&Age=18&Country=USA&Points=123 So anyone can just type in the address bar [URL]..and insert this record (for example with 999 points) into database.

Play Once Per Session

Dec 2, 2010

New here with emphasis on noob. I have started doodling with flash back in CS but increasingly been having a blast since I installed CS5. In all that time I have avoided Ascript like the plague. Now I find myself wanting to do things that require it. I have spent days searching the internet and this forum for a simple way to stop an swf from playing more than once per session in a format that I can understand. Everything seems to be old posts or if I find something I can't get it to work. Remember, you guys are waaay ahead of me on script. I vaguely understand the concept of sharedObject (as a result from my search) and cookies. I'm just having trouble with putting the whole thing together to make it work.

I would think this would be a great function for adobe to include in the code snippets window. I sure they have their reasons if its not. If it is however just tell me where it is and I'll go on avoiding actionScript
