The gallery has different image catagories that load their own set of images.The user decided which catatgory they'd like to view by clicking an HTML button in the flash movies parent page...using javascript, this button click sends a variable to the root level of the flash movies with the new XML location...
Trouble is, onces the initial XML file is loaded, the movie has no need to refresh (and read the newly sent variable) ...*Unfortunately the catagory buttons MUST be outside the movie on the page...
I use Flash CS4 (AS2) to develop an application where the swf pulls XML data from my database. I basically used the same script (AS & PHP) in a file which was done in Flash 8(AS2) which is NOT WORKING!.

The 5 menu names are inside the same movie clip called Menu01. however its the same movie clip in each place of each menu so when i go to edit in place each menu comes up with home. Yet when i play the file they all come up with what there suppose to?

View 14 RepliesI want an air application to be able to update the assets it uses, but minimizing the download needed, so only downloading files added since it last updated.I'm thinking this would include a server portion which would zip the needed files based on a version number? Has anyone implemented anything similar / got any thoughts on the best approach to building this sort of system?
View 1 RepliesI've been trying to get this to work for a few days and uploaded a simplified version. Basically I need to download an image which could be any size and then resize it. To illustrate this I've placed a large file on my server which is to represent someone loading an image. Unfortunately, in real life, I won�t know the size of the image someone will choose, so I need to resize it. I've included a resize button which works. Unfortunately I won�t be able to add an extra button, so I've added a listener to detect when the file has finished
View 2 RepliesIm tryign to do a slide show presentation with externally loaded imgs... on the main page, i have thumbnails of the images that are loaded, and I need the slideshow to stop, or go to the image when i press the corresponding thumbnails, and then, with a play button, to start again with the slideshow from the image that I had stopped in.
I hoped is understood... What Im trying to do is something like the proeloader... in the timeline, to stop when a image is being loaded, so when the loaded bytes of the image are the same to the total bytes, the timeline goes to the next frame... to be shown for 15 frames and then stop again to load the next one... in this way, the thumbnails can go to the exact frame for loading his image, and then just start playing from that frame.
When setting the icon to a Button, a Class of an image is needed. This can be done very simply by embeding an image. But what I would like to do is use an image known only at runtime.More exactly I can not download an image from an external source, obtain it bitmapData or something else, convert it and assign it as the icon style for a Button.So my problem is that for the Flex components that need an image, a Class needs to be assigned, and I can not use an external image to download it, to convert it in some way and assign it

For example: I have a website that has a swf loaded in it, and I want to load that swf file in another of my AIR/FLASH application. The website link is [URL] (this link is just an example, it will not work). configurator.swf is the swf file that is embeded in the webpage. The SWF file will communicate with a server to retrieve the latest information. And I want to load the swf that is in the website link to an AIR/FLASH application that I'm going to create now...
Can I embed the swf into an AIR/FLASH application? If I can, should I use AIR or FLASH projector? If not, are there any workaround?
I am loading a text dynamically from flash which pulls the text up from either HTML or txt file and is lacking showing some special characters, more specifically it doesn't show the apostrophe ( ' ) what I am in need for now.

I've done my fair bit of HTML coding and work fairly well with CSS but i've never ever done a mouseover in flash.. Now, the website's text, all of it, is simply located on a text.txt file that the flash file reads and incorporates onto the website.. All text and images come from this text file. This is what I want to do.
Click on Enter site, then when it loads, click on the "Selling" tab at the top of the site. On the "My Listings" section is where I want to have the mouseover text and the "Market Analytics" section (which we'll be renaming) is where we'd like the image to actually appear. My question to you is can this be done within this environment and how so?

The idea is that the user will be able to take a picture with it's own webcam and then edit that photo for to send it to a friend from facebook. But I can't find a tutorial about to edit an image (a bitmap) in the application. Can you tell me how can I do it? I want to edit the bitmap on the same app, like add a frame around the picture and maybe add a message too.

View 3 Repliesi'm trying to send a specific image (extracted from a png file using C#), from a C# application to the flash player.
I do this by:
-extracting the ARGB (Alpha,Red,Green,Blue) values of image
-storing these in a byte array
-transferring to the flash player using sockets
-using LoadBytes to read the ByteArray
LoadBytes however gives me an error message "unknown file type".
Now, I'm guessing that this could be because the bytes are not encoded as png. (I don't know how to do this)
is it possible to make a Flex-application to only run from my domain? So a user can't copy the .swf and start it locally.

It's a Flash application where the user can design something, then send it in (to me) for publishing (I figured the best way to do that would be to take a picture JPEG of their finished design using some sort of ActionScript and then save it to my Web Server).
