View 14 RepliesI would like to develop a package made in Flash, if I put it on the internet as such and have downloads etc, is there a way to generate a password (or activation key and a password) that can then be embedded with the download so it can be used offline. If I can automate the process so I do not need to make individual packages but can control their use... this would be good. I don't have a problem if they also have internet connection, but the package needs to function off line. I guess I could use a batch passwords then selectively send out passwords in that batch, but this seems heavy.
View 7 Repliesive got this problem, i downloaded a website template and now im changing it to what i want. The 5 menu names are inside the same movie clip called Menu01. however its the same movie clip in each place of each menu so when i go to edit in place each menu comes up with home. View 1 RepliesWith the following recommended spec from Adobe website, how many concurrent users ? Flash Media Streaming Server system requirements OS : Windows Server 2003 SP2 or Windows 2008
H/W Requirements
- 3.2GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor (dual Intel Xeon or faster recommended)
- 2GB RAM ( 4GB recommended)
- 1Gb Ethernet card
As of Flash 10.1, they have added the ability to add bytes into the NetStream object via the appendBytes method URL...The main reason for this addition is that Adobe is finally supporting HTTP streaming of video. This is great, but it seems that you need to use the Adobe Media Streaming Server (URL...) to create the correct video chunks from your existing video to allow for smooth streaming.I have tried to do a hacked version of HTTP streaming in the past where I swap out the NetStream objects (URL...), but there is always a momentary pause between the chunks. With the new appendBytes, I tried to do a quick mock up with the two sections of video from the preceding site, but even then, the skip still remains.Does anyone know how the two consecutive .FLV files needs to be formated in order for the appendBytes method on the NetStream object to create a nice smooth video without a noticeable skip between the segments?
View 6 RepliesI'm developing a flash game and I hired a graphic designer to make it look more professional. The problem is that I don't know if I should use timelime animations or sprite sheets.Here is an example of his graphics:[url]...
How should I proceed for better performance? Also, if I just split the sprite sheets in many images, put them on an array and keep using add/removeChild() on them will it work properly when talking about performance?
I have an external style sheet, and it looks great, but it "flashes" the unstyled content prior to applying the style.

Im trying to create animations for use in sprite sheets for xna but am having some problems with exporting png seqeunces from flash with alpha.I know that if everything is on the main timeline then using the export as png seqeunce with alpha works fine, but when there are movieclip symbols on the main timeline, which themselves are animations, the movie symbols simply remain at their first frames on export.

View 1 RepliesI am working developing a big project and I have a question regarding the formatting of the text, project wide. Is it a good idea to format all of the text using style sheets ? Including here, buttons labels, headers, and so on.
Or is it a better idea to use a combination of style sheets and the TextFormat class depending on the situation ?
Using style sheets project wide seems like a good idea but there might be things that I am missing and I would like some advices from people with more experience.
I have an AIR application with two DataGrids that I would like to export to Excel. I've found the as3xls library, but it can only handle one sheet (as per the comments). Ideally, I'd like to export both DataGrids into separate sheets in the same workbook.
The AIR application is running entirely on the user's desktop and doesn't have a connection to any server, so the solution would need to be Flex/AIR only.

View 6 RepliesI would like to use Bitmaps in my Actionscript games.For me this represents a large change in my workflow as I have always used Vector but Bitmaps are really so much faster to render in certain circumstances. As far as I can see, 90% of all my game assets can be bitmaps.Firstly, are there any good tools for working with Vector to BitmapData? Libraries or OpenSource utilities?I know you can just draw to a BitmapData, and I do that, but what about Animations? What about a MovieClip of a laughing cow? How can I render that MovieClip at runtime to some kind of Bitmap version?But more complex than that What about situations where you do not have the MovieClip in a raw form?Imagine 10000 cogs turning at the same rate which is generated with code. This is hard work for the processor, so drawing it to a Bitmap for the duration of 1 revolution, would replace 10000 cogs with a SpriteSheet. I could destroy the cogs, and keep the SpriteSheet. Can anyone offer me any resources or google keywords I can search for, not sure of the technique but it seems to make sense? Especially with Starling..
View 2 RepliesOn my Mac OS X it didn't matter, the setStyle Worked Fine,However I've transfered my files over to PC and working with the exact same things all the styles work EXCEPT for the setStyle("themeColor", "color");On this PC it's always turning it from the default "Greens" to a solid gray shade of borders, this is very weird.
For Example
Code:
// Have a button component on stage
import mx.controls.Button
_global.styles.setStyle("themeColor", "haloOrange");
[code]....
It works just fine, do I need to edit the core class files for something? I'm extremely confused, I inport the class files in the first place so I can do public vars and strict data type them to that component.
how can I find on fms server that client disconnected if if client disconnected due to power cut off. I client manually close the application then onDisconnect on server is called but if due to power cut off it does not called.
View 1 RepliesSite loads two flash files at the same time with multiple dynamic text fields that load .html files with external css style sheets. The site works almost perfectly when viewed offline, but when you upload it the text boxes sometimes load and sometimes do not. I'm a graphic designer so I really don't know actionscript 3.0 (or any version) very well... so I'm attaching the footer .fla file which by itself suffers from the same problem, and the other files are too big to upload so here is the link to the other .fla file used on the homepage
View 3 RepliesCan we perform client to client file transfer, client to server can be done by FileReference. but how do we do client to client transfer, for example if a user wants to send file to another user to whom he is chatting online.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to build a client-to-client streaming program - client 1 has a webcam and client 2 will connect to client 1 and be able to view the webcam. Is this possible using 2 swf clients? Can someone point me in the right direction as to what commands would be used to connect the two clients. I have tried: binary sockets Connect() where each clients points to the other and they both time-out NetConnection to try to point each client to one another to establish a connection, but no luck with that either; this seems more oriented towards streaming content to a flash media server rather than to another flash client.
View 1 RepliesWe're writing a flash application that can download a MP3 file, convert it to a Sound object, get the raw data and make some processing (like adding sounds, change octaves). After the processing, we want to send the data back to the server in chunks, so the server will be able to glue the data together and recover the new generated file. The problem is: if we send to the server "wav" pieces of sound, we are able to glue them together without any problem in the generated file. However, if we convert each wav piece to a mp3 file (so we can send a smaller file to the server) and join the mp3 files at the server, the result is a sound with some problems at the merge point.
This is how we load the mp3 file from the server:
sourceSnd.load(new URLRequest("sample url to mp3"));
sourceSnd.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, carregou);
This is how we convert each piece of mp3 to bytearray and wav:

I'm a teacher and I have some animations made in flash language (swf). I would like to publish these animations on my web site so my students could see, but I wonder if there is any way to prevent these animations being downloaded.
Example: when I see an animation published on my web site, this animation is stored in Internet Temporary Files and I can save this animation anywhere. How can I prevent an animation is stored in the temporary folder? In other words, this animation can only be seen if the user is logged on the site.
I downloaded Flash, extracted it, and open the folder. However,when i click on setup.exe, nothing pops up. I looked inside task manager and see that the setup is using up 50% cpu but nothing pops up.I am using vista home premium sp2.
View 1 RepliesI'm starting a project that will build a flash file with quite complex capabilities. I expect the size of the swf/swc files will be quite big. In order not to slow down the page download, can I build the swf file so only immediately needed components are loaded with the page and other later-stage components can be silently loaded in the background?

View 2 RepliesI have a question how can I secure my flash website (*swf) for being Downloaded??
View 2 Replies All I want to do is to preload an flv in a similar way a regular preloader works with the first frame having a clip that displays "LOADING" when the correct amount of the flv is loaded it moves to frame 2 and plays.I have looked at the Flash docs for this and all the codes are based on using a component, my flv's are being streamed and downloaded from a regular server and I need to have the playback based on the buffer time. So figure if 50% of the flv is downloaded then play the flv.
im using flash cs3, i have downloaded swf and used decompiler to generate fla...now there is coming one error in script.[URL]..
View 2 RepliesI need to create a progress bar for my streaming video to let the user know how much of the video has already been downloaded/streamed. Making a progress bar for a progressive download is easy, just check the bytesLoaded vs the bytesTotal. But apparently with a streaming video those do not work. What exactly do I need to check in order to create a progress bar for a streaming video. Here is my sample code that doesn't work for the progress bar.
View 9 RepliesI wanted to know if there is a way to embed a pdf file into a flash document to be downloaded by the customer. I want them to be able to click on the thumbnail version of the file to start the download of the high res version of that file. I am making an interactive cd so the files would be stored on the cd itself. I know I could do it by storing the files on the internet but I would like to keep everything local
