ActionScript 3.0 :: Using A Downloaded Image As The Icon Style For A Button?
Oct 29, 2010
When setting the icon to a Button, a Class of an image is needed. This can be done very simply by embeding an image. But what I would like to do is use an image known only at runtime.More exactly I can not download an image from an external source, obtain it bitmapData or something else, convert it and assign it as the icon style for a Button. So my problem is that for the Flex components that need an image, a Class needs to be assigned, and I can not use an external image to download it, to convert it in some way and assign it
I want to extract/read the button icon image as a Flex image component, then apply transform filters to it to make it black/white and then apply image as an icon to another button. So far I can get the icon out as an Object by doing this: var iconImg:Object = myBtn.getStyle("icon"); Not sure how to convert that Object to an image.
Here i'm setting the disclosureClosedIcon as null setStyle("disclosureClosedIcon", "nullicon"); Anybody have idea about how to replace this default icon with a movieClip?
I've been trying to get this to work for a few days and uploaded a simplified version. Basically I need to download an image which could be any size and then resize it. To illustrate this I've placed a large file on my server which is to represent someone loading an image. Unfortunately, in real life, I wont know the size of the image someone will choose, so I need to resize it. I've included a resize button which works. Unfortunately I wont be able to add an extra button, so I've added a listener to detect when the file has finished
Im tryign to do a slide show presentation with externally loaded imgs... on the main page, i have thumbnails of the images that are loaded, and I need the slideshow to stop, or go to the image when i press the corresponding thumbnails, and then, with a play button, to start again with the slideshow from the image that I had stopped in.
I hoped is understood... What Im trying to do is something like the proeloader... in the timeline, to stop when a image is being loaded, so when the loaded bytes of the image are the same to the total bytes, the timeline goes to the next frame... to be shown for 15 frames and then stop again to load the next one... in this way, the thumbnails can go to the exact frame for loading his image, and then just start playing from that frame.
I'm developing a downloadable flash application that I want to include an image associated w/ a specific user w/ the download.Basically, I want the user's website image to be pulled down or pointed to when the .swf or .exe file is downloaded to a user's computer
I would like to right align an icon on a button or tabbarbutton and keep the text left aligned in Flex 4.0 Spark. So far, I've come up with something like the following in my custom skin:
way to show a jpeg image while a Flash file is loading or better, if they don' t have Flash?
Problem is that when people go to a site and they don't have Flash and can't install it (ie: iPhone), they can't see phone numbers, address etc. which is why that came there. It would sure easier to push Flash if there was a way to have an alternate image to view.
We are creating a LinkButton programmatically and would like to set it's icon to an image retrieved from the remote server rather than something embedded within the SWF. The .icon property expects a Class but I can't figure out how to create one equivalent to an @Embed but from a dynamically generated URLRequest or URL String.[code]...
I adopted the tsunami effect that i've got from this link [URL] but the problem is how can i plug the title on each icon, showing up on an icon when i point on it (on rollOver)
I have a simple text chat flash client written by AS3. Text message can be sent and sync among flash clients. However, how can I send icon image in text chat like MSN?
I am loading the data externally from xml and displaying in a datagrid. I have 2 buttons addRow and deleteRow. My datagrid headertext names are "name" "age" "rollno" "image", where image also will be loading externally thru an xml file.now when i am pressing the deleteRow button, whole row is getting deleted but an image icon is still appearing under "image" headertext. It was not an actual image but a blank image icon kind of thing is appearing, how to remove the icon. i want my whole row to be deleted. but its not happening.
I need to add my images/icons dynamically at runtime to my Flex GUI due to licencing reasons. So how can I add a dynamically loaded icon to an Alert? I use the following function
I've a carousel, that has got an image and a label that shows a description of the icon. It is done using It has got an ItemRenderer that renders the image above the icon description text. [URL].Up on click event I display the image and details of some text pertaining that image/icon.
Now I wanted to introduce a smaller 'x' icon on top right hand side of the icons so the user could remove the items he's not interested in from the carousel's list of items. This would dispatch a different event so removeIconEvent and clickEvent would be handled differently.
This is very strange.i would like to show in my swf movie all the icons (jpg/png) I've imported as they are. I've set the JPG quality 100%, I've tried the PNG settings without quality lost, I've unchecked the "Allow smooth" setting.
But as soon as the movie have quality=high all the icons are smoothed/breaked and do not looks like the original ones [URL]..Instead, setting quality=low let show the icons as they are![URL]..Of course, I need the movie to be quality=high, since there will be some other stuff on it!
I was able to create a iOS application in Flash and sync it to my iPod Touch for testing. The icon appears in the menu and the application launches fine. However, after shutting off the iPod Touch and then starting again, the menu icon image disappears. The icon is simply white with no image.
I have a button which I use for sending a message. When the message text is empty, it should not be possible to click the button.
This is all fine and not an issue. The only thing that is bugging me is the fact that I can disable the send button but the image does not get disabled (like I would expect).
Is there a way to do this elegantly because I don't want to provide a sendicon_disabled.png and change it myself (I don't think this should be my job).
I am trying to add different icon on different buttons. I have my skin file ready but not sure if I have to create different skin class for different button. It sounds inefficient.
I am creating a somewhat elaborate (for me at least) navigation for my site. I have created a bunch of animated MC's to use as nav-buttons, and all that works great. The only issue is that when you mouse over the MC-buttons, the cursor stays as an arrow instead of turning into the little hand that always happens with links. The links work, but no little hand. Do I have to have a "hit area" defined in order to get the hand icon to popup or what?
how to reposition an icon inside a button on any x,y cordinates . i know how to use labelplacement etc but still i dont get the full control over them. i m just wondering if there is a way to directly access and control the x,y position of an icon in a flex button
Until now, my solution for a disabled button's icon was to have a second, greyscale icon and swap the icons based on the button's enabled value. Obviously this is very hackish.
I'd like to drill down into the button's icon and apply some kind of greyscale filter when the button is disabled and remove the filter when the button is re-enabled. I tried a couple of things, but I don't know enough about Flash graphics to really have a good idea about what to do.
Can anyone give me some pointers? Ideally, I'd like a Flex 3 solution (since most of my apps are still mx/spark mixed), but Flex 4 would be OK too.
I'm trying to use an image (embedded) for the thumb on my Spark slider component. This should be straightforward -- I know what to do in mx -- but I haven't been able to find what the Spark syntax is.
I don't even need states (up, down, over, etc) since this is going on a mobile app.
I am aiming to create a looping array of images so that each fades in and fades out again ... here is the code i have so far ... it works EXCEPT ... it stops at the end of the array and appears to jump or hop a little between images ... want it to be smoother.
Code:
var aImages:Array = new Array("flashcontent.png", "flashcontent2.png", "flashcontent3.png");[/quote][quote] var imageFolder = "../images/"; var fadeRate:Number = 1;[code]....
I've searched for an hour now to no avail, doesent seem to be worth the trouble for something so simple. How do you remove the finger pointer icon from a button leaving the regular cursor when the user rolls over the button?
I need to make an image gallery that uses a carousel style animation...minus the 3D part.Basically, we'll have an array of images loaded from an XML file...could be any number of images. The stage will have 5 images lined up edge to edge. Each image will be 300x200, but masked to only show the middle 100x200 pixels. The image in the middle (the third one) will be fully visible, with the mask showing all 300x200 pixels of the image. When the user clicks on the next or previous buttons, the entire row of images will slide over and the new middle one will animate open to show the full image.
Screen shot of basic idea: Loading the XML and images and such is no problem...adding them to the stage and setting a mask for each, no problem. It's the actual functionality of getting the whole group to slide at once and the next image mask in line to animate into the center position while the current center position mask animates back down to normal.
I want to display a uncommon layout into a HTML Textfield, using AS3/Flash CS4. This is what I need to create, is it possible? [URL]... I have tried some CSS styles, but I didn't found any way to align a span to the left. TLF is out of my range, the related project is closed to CS4, but if it is the only way, someone tell me!
I'm trying to create a simple button that has an animation in it after you click it. Specifically a clockwise circle animates. PacMan dieing is a good example of what i'm trying to do. Think of a pizza pie and every sec a slice gets taken out till its all gone. Is there a programmatic way of achieving this in ActionScript 3 or do i have to manually animate it in photoshop?
I know how to make a button i'm just not sure how to animate it. If all else fails i think i'm going to grey out the button and then start a countdown from 9 down to 1 then re-enable it.
