Apr 27, 2004

how to search through a .txt file to find a match from a input put in through flash and return which line its in the text file...ie: input, "flash" and i search through the .txt file to find a match and return what line its on?And my second part of the question, how can I use cordinates to search through a .txt file and return the data as a integer? Basically what I'm trying to do is have a list of data setup with a name and value beside it and be able to retrieve a specific value for each name, ie:

flash 4563

ActionScript 3.0 :: Searching Through Array Of Complex Data Object On Specified Properties?

Sep 27, 2011

Is there any 3rd-party library on AS3.0( like STL in C++) around, can do this:I define my class and use its objects as associative array, for example:

class Company{
var public name;
var public logo;
var public address;
var public telnumber;
}

And use a kind of data structure class(say, List) to store a few Company-type objects. And then, I define my own comparing and searching function on that List class(namely, override the default one); within my functions I could specify on which attribute(name, or address, or telephone number) to perform searching, and how it would be performed.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Reading External Variables?

Jan 29, 2003

Okay i have a problem where I am reading an ASP page into my flash. It works fine when I am reading into the dynamic text fields but when I want to use a variable for something in the actual flash nothing is working.I am reading a Database and everything is working just great, except that there are no more records to read! I have a variable named last which is displayed during the last record set so that i could use it to end the display of the records.I tried setting it up in an if statement...

if (last =="yes")
{
counter = 0;
}

my program pretty much just ignores this statement but when i read the variable last into a dynamic text field on the last record set it will display yes

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reading Variables In Main Clip?

Jul 6, 2010

I have an app that sets a user id on the main timeline (main). It then loads a swf (loader) which loads another swf (video). The video clip needs to access the user id set in the main clip. Previously the video clip was embedded in a movie clip the main clip and I used this:

var xeniumImageLocation:URLRequest = new URLRequest("data/photos/"+ MovieClip(this.parent).uid +".jpg");

Which worked great. Unfortunately it no longer does after breaking the clips apart.

I have read through various articles and can't seem to find an easy way to target the main clip. I'm guessing there is a way that is as easy as AS2 but I don't know the proper syntax.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reading Text File With Multiple Variables?

Dec 29, 2010

When I open a text document containing 1 string of a Base64 Encoded Image, it works fine:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.utils.ByteArray;

[code]...

The image displays and that's great, but I need to display multiple images; therefore, I used the standard format: var1=value1&var2=value2&... (In reality, the values are the huge base64 strings.) Then I just needed to add "my_loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;" since the format of my source changed. The thing that bugs me is that I'm tracing the imgB64Str after I set it and it traces fine (just like the other version).

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.utils.ByteArray;

[code]...

It runs with no errors, but the image no longer displays.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reading POST XML Data In JSP?

Aug 7, 2009

I am currently doing a simple project, and I need to save the players' scores into database for later retrieval. I used URLLoader and URLRequest to send XML object containing game score to a JavaServer Page (storedata.jsp) running on Apache Tomcat server. The AS3 code snippet is shown below:

public function sendData(xmlData:XML):void
{
var xmlData:XML = <block>
<chapter1>

[code]....

However, here comes the problem. The pageContext.request.reader doesn't return a parsed XML object. When I display using c: out, I saw [#document null] output. Hence, the x:set statement generates runtime error.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Reading XML Data Generated By PHP In Flash?

Sep 9, 2009

I have a normal XML file which i chucked together that works fine with the code i have below - this is obviously saved as an xml file as well. What I'm trying to do is generate an XML page using PHP. I have done so, works fine and reads as it should correctly when simply viewing the page in a browser, but when i try and read out the data in flash (loading in a php file instead of an xml file, everything is undefined!! Below is the flash code, which works when the load() link is changed to a straightforward xml file...

Code:

newsPageContent_txt.html = true;
var test_xml = new XML();
test_xml.ignoreWhite = true;

[code]....

the header at the top of this PHP is generating the page as xml, so it should all be valid.

Php :: Reading PDF Form Field Data From Flex 4?

Dec 20, 2010

I have managed to import and read a PDF using the CF Proxy for Actionscript: [URL]After all my trouble there, the precious form filed information that I was looking for was not there in the PDF info object. GRRRR. So I am back to looking for a way to do this with CFC's or CFM's or PHP.All I want is this:

Read the PDF from a Flex app.GET the form field information.WRITE a new PDF with the form field values.I have found so many close but no cigar options ... and I have tried so many that failed. There are so many free PDF this and that out there. But Adobe seems to reserve the real functionality for themselves. All the free options don't seem to have access to the form data?

Data Integration :: Multiline Text Box Reading From Xml File?

May 20, 2009

i have a text area, set to multiline.  For some reason, when my text imported from xml shows up in the box, it starts several lines down into the box.  So for example, my Text box is positioned with the top at the midpoint of my stage, but the text starts about 3/4 down the page, about half way down the text box.  Can someone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

I noticed that when I put my cursor in the box and move it up and down, the rest of the text 'scrolls' into the frame, but otherwise it's cut off.

Php :: Reading RAW Data From A Flash POST Request ( Images )?

Dec 8, 2009

I'm basically interacting with a third party API flash file to send HTTP POST requests to my server. know I'm on somewhat the right path because it requires a crossdomain.xml file, and before I added that part nothing in the POST variables was showing up, however since I added that file there are 4 variables that are set, these POST variables are sent by the application to give me basic information about the file.. but I actually need to read the RAW POST data to actually save the image being sent by the Flash.I'm aware there are 3 ways...$GLOBALS['HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA'] $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA which is probably the same as the firstfile_get_contents('php://input')For whatever reason, neither of these "work". By "work" I mean they're not being set, when I var dump them I get nothing.

Could it be that there's a setting in php.ini that I need to set, or perhaps the Flash application is truly not sending the actual image? I think it's doing the right thing, because it's a semi popular API and it's used by a couple other sites so I'm pretty sure it's right on their end.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Data From Different Variables - The New Variables Come Back As Undefined?

Jun 15, 2010

I'm writing code that takes data from mysql that's processed by a PHP script. It's actually a bit bizarre, at least to me. Anyway, here's some basic AS3 code that's moving toward what I want to do:

var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
var urlRequest:URLRequest=new URLRequest("receive.php");
urlRequest.method=URLRequestMethod.GET;[code]....

For some reason, the statement "trace(evt.target.data);" produces a whole pile of garbled text before the actual stuff that it's supposed to show Because of problem #1, I've had to include a throwaway variable at the beginning, otherwise the first variable I try to pass into AS3 comes back as undefined. This causes errors when I run my flash movie in the IDE, but when I run it from the browser it doesn't seem to have any effect.But this is the strangest thing of all whenever I make any changes to the database (and subsequently try to load data from different variables), the new variables come back as undefined. For example, let's say that I add another entry to the database, and decide to load students 2, 3, and 4 instead of 1, 2, and 3. When I do that, any new data I've added comes back as undefined, even though when I view the PHP output in my browser, it looks just fine.

And now for the REALLY bizarre part: I'll copy that output, paste it into my PHP script as an echo statement, comment everything else out, and my flash movie runs fine. Even though the output from the PHP script is exactly the same, it gives me errors.

Actionscript 3 :: Get An Accurate Reading Of The Pixel Data From A Bitmap With A Matrix Transformation?

Mar 24, 2011

i've filled a circle shape with the bitmap data of a bitmap asset.i need to rotate the circle from the center, so i added the bitmap to the center of the circle and used a matrix transformation to shift the bitmapdata upward and leftward so it appears centered.
now i'm trying to read the bitmap data with getPixel() but the return value is off since it is returning the untransformed position of the bitmap data instead of the visible transformed bitmapdata.

Bitmap(Sprite(evt.currentTarget).getChildAt(0)).bitmapData.getPixel(evt.localX, evt.localY)

how can i get an accurate reading of the pixel data from a bitmap with a matrix transformation? updated with code. assume the redCircleData in my example is more colorful and something worth retrieving pixel data.
