ActionScript 2.0 :: Tab Logical Order Between Textfields (mailform)
Feb 11, 2008
I've made a mailform and having probs with te textfields.Somehow when I use the tab it selects the left textfields from top till bottom, then the textfields that are layed out to the right. How can I amke sure the tab makes the logical order when someone whants to fill the form.
I already used setfocus to the first textfields so the cursor starts with the first to fill in textfield.
How tab form let's say tekstfield name to adres to email(variables).
this concerns flash cs5 and the timeline.Everybody knows the effect you get when you use appendText() to add text to a multiline dynamic textfield, right ? Well, I have a movieClip as a container, and I would like dynamic textfields to populate this movieclip in the same manner as textStrings would populate the dynamic Textfield.
How would this work?I have buttons that trigger addChild() function so as to populate the movieclip with textfields, but how do I make sure that the textfields make up an arbitrary list as a menu user chooses which buttons to click? Let's say this is the visible text when the swf runs.(I cut away some of the code to make this more to the point):
var buttonTrace:TextField=new TextField; addChild(TextClip.buttonTrace); buttonTrace.x=0; buttonTrace.y=0; buttonTrace.text="Breadcrumbs";
Now for each time I click a button in the menu I've made, a new textfield appears with the name of the button. This is how I want it. BUT......... How do I control the display properties and positioning of dynamic textfields within a movieclip ? How do I control persistent visibility, and how do I make these textfields appear one after the other in the order they were clicked.
I have a working Flash mailform that is pointing to Comcast's form created when a generic website is built. When that generic form is used in html format a confirmation page pops up with a standard "Thank You, etc.". I have a Flash thank you page built as well but it has nothing to do with what is going on on the server since I don't know how to connect these two. So in case there is an error on the server's side Flash will not detect it and the user will think his e-mail went through. Is there a way of writing a code that would take care or of it? The html address of the form that I'm addressing with Flash and the "Thank You" page is the same - just the contest changes. And here's the source for the latter (not much to it but what is VLINK or LINK - they seem to be the only unique things in this code?
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN"> <!-- Generated by Oracle's Dynamic HTML Generation Package --> <HTML> <HEAD><script>function <TITLE>Mailform Entry Submitted</TITLE> </HEAD> [Code] .....
can I somehow create logical groups of objects without actually combining them into symbols which would appear in the libraryI was thinking of this approach
ActionScript Code: var vertFloatGroup:Object = new Object(); // the logical object vertFloatGroup.addChild(splashPhoto); // splashPhoto is an existing instance on stage vertFloatGroup.addChild(nav); // same for nav
interact with the group as a whole this above tells me that addChild is not a function...
I got the following code from Adobe's 'Serverside ActionScript Language Reference'. Here it is:
myLoadVars = new LoadVars();myLoadVars.onLoad = function(result){ trace("myLoadVars load success is " + result);}myLoadVars.load(http://www.someurl.com/somedata.txt);
My questions is, if the purpose of the onload event handler is to confirm if the load operation is a sucess,than should it not be placed after the load command? In the above code, the onload event handler appears before the load and yet it works.
I posted this in another forum, no response yet, so I thought of posting it here as well. I got the following code from Adobe's 'Serverside ActionScript Language Reference'. Here it is:

When the feed truly fails, then onXmlLoad never runs (or it breaks; not sure which; either way I don't have an issue). However, when the feed doesn't fail, both catchHttpError AND onXmlLoad run which creates a problem. I want to set this up so that its either one OR the other.
As I was looking into the properties of HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS, I noticed that I can check status, but the problem is that status can either be 200 or 0 and this is not exclusive.
I have completely hit a wall. Here's what I'm after. I have two sets of radio buttons, each of which controls what loaded swf appears on stage. Then, depending on which button is clicked in group one and which button is clicked in group two, a third swf appears. I can access the value of each radio button, and I'm passing it into a variable (I think - the trace command works) but when I drop it all together into an if/else statement, no data is passed.
Here's the code: //printArea is a movie clip on stage, which has dynamic mc's attached via code var thisFront; //function for what happens when fronts radio buttons clicked frontListener = new Object(); frontListener.click = function(evt) { [Code] .....
I'm trying to create an XML driven menu for my portfolio site. I'm basing the code concept off Senocular's tutorial on this site, but I'm basing the aesthetic/operational idea off portfolio menus such as those seen on [URL] and basically every other portfolio site that uses small thumbnails as icons to present larger versions of the work.
Functionally, I think I've got it down (it's basically the tutorial code with the submenu functions stripped out), but I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to display my attachMovie'd items in a logical row/column fashion... i.e. if I had 7 items in my XML file and wanted the row to exist in threes, I'd have two rows of three and one row of one.
I'm sure there's a very simple solution to this that I'm simply overlooking. I was just thinking about trying to implement this via some type of counter/multiplier for the _y property.
I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
There are of course 10000 tutos with xml gallery featuring a < previous and a > next image button.I succedeed to create a quite nice photo gallery with thumbs by myself with tuts here and there, but I can not figure out the real logic( not a math minded ;-() to create the functions of the buttons that allows to go to the previous and next photo.
I want to create two textfields in flash wich will move the text simultaniously by using one scrollbar. for example. the left textfield contains text and the right textfield contains pictures. and the scrollbar is in the middle.
What I want to happen is..when you click on a button ('Bengkulu' for example), the movie should go to and stop at frame 63 , whilst the textfield (my_text) should display 'This is a delightful place in Sumatra'. However, the <Data> node's text won't display. Why?
I got two textfields on top of each other, with different sizes. When I push button_1 I want text in textfield_1 and when I push button_2 text in textfield_2.
That works but now I got links in both textfields and the the links in textfield_2 are not working because textfield_1 is on top of him. Can I swap the the arrangement ? I tried the swapDepths but this doesn't work for me Maybe I can disable textfield_1 when I pusch button_2 ??
I am working on a data provider application for class and wanted to take it a step further for usability and add tabbing for navigation, but the tabIndex code I have below does nothing. I would like to tab between the buttons and the textfields. Does tabbing work with data providers?
I should note they are all embedding the desired fonts. But when displaying my flash movie in low quality my text fields no longer appear... changing back to high quality the text fields appear fine.Is there a way to ensure the textfields will appear even at low quality? And what is the reason for them no longer rendering at low quality?
I've imported an external XML file that includes both image and text elements into a textfield, and now I want to format the elements with an external CSS.I've had only limited success. Images appear below the text, instead of inline or aligned Left or Right, Flash ignores DIV or SPAN styles, etc.I don't know if I'm overestimating flash's abilities to render styles.I've attached a zip with the fla and all external scripts, as well as an html of what I'd like the end result to look like.
I've recently been trying to rebuild a project we did at work so that we'd have a better and more flexible architecture for future projects. So far all is done, and work great, but I've been wanting to make the text we use (and we use a lot) easier to modify, so I thought having it outside my Flash/ActionScript files would do it. That way, I can change the text and have it working without having to recompile.
Unfortunatly, I've noticed that having the text in a .txt file puts random linebreaks which I really don't like, but XML severely limits what characters we can put in our text (no " < and so on, unless I'm missing something). Not to mention linebreaks would/could be a pain in an XML.
So, I'm wondering if you guys would have any ideas on how to do this, or even tips on how to do it in an XML or txt file that would work.
Basicly I'm adding dynamicaly sprites and textfields, which i populate from xml, in for loop. I'm building sort of table, so for every sprite, I'm adding new data in textfields. I've loaded xml and passed data to 2 xmllists, both traced and doing fine... Later on I add data from xmllist to array which then I'm looping in for loop.
Problem is that from 1st xmllist, 6 out of 7 textfields are visible, 1 can't be found nowhere :/ from the 2nd xmllist only 1 out of 4 are visible...
I've tried everything, tracing them returns that they are visible, on good position, filled with text, contrasted color from background...
Im trying to create loop which will creat 4 new textfields and will put text into each field. The variables are already definned. But i doens't seem to work
I want to link two textfields, so that if the first one is fille the text continues in the second textfield. The text is loaded from a xml file. One option would be to use html tags so the text wraps around the picture, but as you'll see in the attached image, the picture has a border around it, so it will be hard for the client to update it.I know flashloaded has a component, but as far as I can see it only works for columns, in the past I had found another component that did what I want, but I can't seem to find it anymore, not on the net and not in my backups.

PS: here is the part probably causing the problems..
