ActionScript 2.0 :: Use Flash To Create An Installation Cd?

trying to use flash to create an installation cd, i encountered a problem with fscommand, and its exec parameter. i specified the path to the exe file but flash just can open it.
I've just installed Flash builder on my machine, which went ahead and installed the debug version of Flash on my machine as well. It appears now that this has broken Flash in my browsers or at least the browsers have no idea where flash is located on my machine. When I open a browser and navigate to a Flash page I get the message,
"Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash "
This is from Google chrome but FF is also effected.
After I installed CS4, I clicked "New-->Form Application", then I get this error[code]...
I searched google with this message, and it seems that people are getting these after they do some modifications but guess what, this is a new installation!
Based on my research it has to do with corrupt action script files but 1.) it's a new install and 2.) I can't find any action script files on my computer!
I'm doing an application adobe air with Flash CS4, in as3 , I'm really don't need a database, but a small file database it gives me some adventages, just I need a little file, with 2 o 3 tables for a few data, no much that 50 I think. I look for some kind of database that don't need instalation(important), if with a dll, or something similar (it's only for windows). I google for the last 4 hours but only I find mysql, and I don't want any kind of motor working. MS Access, it would be ok, but I haven't found information.
On Linux (Debian Lenny) the installation instructions for the *installer*.tar.gz download file say:Unpack file.Navigate into directory or folder created.Run install program.But no directory created; no install program - what the hell is going on??What you get is a single *.so file. What do you do with it?I got it to work in the past, but perhaps by a different method.
I recently re-installed CS4, but files I had created with flash AS3 and worked before don't work anymore. Even more, EXE files don't work when publish with the new installation. I didn't install all programs, but basically Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks.
A client is having me convert an HTML5 video web application that I've already built into an AIR app.
The end users are going to need this to work with no internet access, so I MUST include a LOT of video files with the installer. This works fine on my machine, but my client can't install it because the .air file is too large and they don't have enough RAM. We'll need this installed on a number of laptops that aren't super powerful.
My SDK is up to date and we're using AIR 3.1. Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Is there any workaround? For instance could I either include both the installer and the .air in a zipped folder, then have the installer move the video files to the appropriate location, or use AS to have the installer download the files (they will have internet access when installing).
I am trying to install FMS 4.5 on Fedora 15 x64 server. I have downloaded the fms 4.5 development server and extracted the files. Now, when I type the command:
im a digital artist (beginner) and i want to make some flash animations..i downloaded the flash cs3 (after seeing some comments that cs5 it not a big deall) from adobe but when i tried to install it i got an error so i download it from another site but i got the same error after extracting the files and tried to install English:: setup has detected an error and can not continue. For assistance contact customer support Adobe im not soure but i thing that at the one i downloaded from adobe site i got something like '' can not extract files'' then got the error from above so maybe some files are missing here are the files i got after they got extracted
Is it possible to have multiple FMS installation running on 1 linux server?This mean that each fmsadmin, fmsmaster, fmsedge, fmscore will run under a specific user. (not vhosts of a single FMS install)How will this impact the performance of the other FMS instances in case there are more of them running on the same server?
I installed Flash CS4 a couple of days ago. Trying it out for the first time today. I went to import a video & got a message: "The required version of Adobe Media Encoder is not installed or the installation is damaged. Please reinstall."
I'm showing a Media Encoder CS4 folder under my Adobe folder, so I assume I've got the latest version installed, but it's a corrupt installation & I need to reinstall. My question is: do I need to redo the whole Flash CS4 installation? The reason I ask is that our IT provided me with multiple files for the install - there's ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.exe. That's for the main install. But there's also a ADOBEFLPRCS4Win_Cont_LS1.exe. That's the added content file. I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Flash if I don't have to. Does anybody know if Media Encoder installs from the main Flash installation file, or from the added content installation file?

I am using a flex application in client machine which plays the videos on the server through rtmpI used rtmp://server_ip/vod/sample.flv for the video player in flex also tried with rtmp://server_ip:1935/vod/sample.flv, but got the "Connection Error" The sample.flv runs well in the server. Using the default settings of FMS o our intranet server, I could see the videos.
I'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
I am trying to do is create an "app" with flash that will allow an employee of the company to create there business card on the fly. The business card templates will have been pre approved and uploaded into the "system". The employee will be able to choose the card template that he likes the most and edit information on the card template such as Full Name, Title, Office Number, Cell Number, Fax Number, and Email. After he inputs his own information onto this template he will have the option to save the file as a pdf file, that will be used to print his business cards.
I'm new to Flash AS3. I started making a game and I am a bit confused. Let's assume that I want to create a game that has multiple levels/modes, how can I do this in an object orientated way?
When i create games in other languages e.g. XNA C#, i create a separate class then create an object of that class within the main class and run the game based on a simple statement.
I'm trying to create a dynamic menu in Flash using PHP & MySQL and bring it into Flash using AS3 DataProvider. My menu works fine with a local Array, but I seem to have an issue with the Type being a String and not an Array, but how do I set it up properly so the types are correctSo I started with a typical, non-dynamic array and it works to create my menu:

I am planning to create a video conferencing application finally in flash using RED5. But i don't know flash. Is there any readymade free video conference program available that i can directly integrate in my website? If not, then can anybody point me to from where should i start? Because gaining microphone and webcam access programmatically seems very daunting to me.
I wanted to create a simple flash contact form for my flash website. I went through Lee's tutorial on how to create the contact form and PHP file to go with it. I've uploaded everything to my server and tested the form. My flash form consists of Name, Subject, Message, and Email fields. When I receive the email all that comes through is this with none of the actual message that was written IN the contact form:
Name: Subject: Message: Email: The 'From' field is also blank. I don't know if my problem is with flash, my PHP code, or with my server. Can someone take a look at this and tell me what's wrong? I can't seem to find any errors from Lee's tutorial with my code or labeling.
I did the tutorial for "create a full flash site" under flash mx advance. I did everything right and it worked. Ok here is what i want to somebody to help me out.

because when i extracted the zip file it had only the different swf. files and the main file where they were going to be loaded. What i am saying is do all the swf. files have to have some connection to the main movie where i am loading the swf. files in order for it to work or it doesn't matter. so what am trying to say is i could have any swf. file and use that action to my main movie even if has nothing in come and it will play it.
I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. I would also like to use the Tweener external class, or the flash tween class would work too.
First let me warn you that I'm "old school" i.e. code is on my timeline and the only classes used were those automatically created when I added several new fonts to Script1.swf which is my movieclip for embedded fonts.
On the first frame of my main movieclip which is named Round.fla, I have loaded Script1.swf that contains the fonts using the loader object. I'm using a trace statement that shows that Script1_lb.swf is loaded.
I am using a listbox (script1_lb) with movieclip icons (jpg picture of the sample font) and the data is the name of the font class, like this: script1_lb.dataProvider.addItem( {icon:akaDora_mc, data:"akaDora"} );
I am trying to create a flash viewer, which will load various other flash movies. The viewer will be in the root directory, but the flash movies it will load are a few directories deep. Those movies access various sound clips that are in an audio directory relative to each swf I want to load.[code]It seems that when I load one of these movies into my viewer, the loaded movie is looking for the sounds in an audio folder in the root directory, and not relative to the swf I loaded. Is there a way to set this? I would rather not have to make the changes in each of my other movies to use the absolute path.[code]
I just started doing AS3 for Flash and I'm trying to create a flash app that has 2 things inside. An InputTextBox which is called txt_userinput and a Button called btn_submit.Bascially, the user just need to type in some word in the InputTextBox and press btn_submit. The data will then be sent to a testing.TXT in my DESKTOP. My .FLA file is in MY DOCUMENTS while the testing.TXT is in my DESKTOP.
Question 1: Question is, how do I make the data from txt_userinput to be sent to the .TXT in my DESKTOP?For example, the user typed "Hello, how are you?" in the InputTextBox. In the .TXT file, I want it to show "Hello, how are you?".
PS: testing.TXT file is already created in the desktop, just waiting for flash to write the data in and keeps on adding more data in the future in the following format.
I'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners.
I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless.
The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string.
What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";if(myCode){ trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!! }
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events)
