I'm trying to use one of Adobe's examples to put a video player in my Flash application using ActionScript 3 in Flash CS5. It's the one at the bottom of the page here:
[URL]
I'm putting the ActionScript into the frame I want to play the video in. When I try to test it, I keep getting the following error message:
"1083: Syntax error: package is unexpected"
So I try taking the "package { }" code out and running it again. Then this error pops up:
"The public attribute can only be used inside a package"
I tried removing all the code inside the package and I still get the first error.

View 2 RepliesI have an actionscript file,it has a package name,it locate C:demo directory,like follows:
package demo{
import flash.display.*;
public class ABC extends Sprite{[code]............
Then I compile above code like following command,but it raise following error:
C:>mxmlc demoABC.as
Loading configuration file C:sdkframeworksflex-config.xml
C:demoABC.as: Error: A file found in a source-path must have the same package structure '', as the definition's package, 'demo'.Where is wrong above command?
This is with Flexbuilder 3.2, Eclipse 3.3.2.I am moving my development environment to a new machine. Actionscript classes that compiled in the old environment now get a compile error:
A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package.I do declare the package in these classes - I think failure to declare the package is the usual reason for this error.To add to the mystery, many classes in this project compile without errors.
I'm making a simple image galery with AS2.0 but it doesn't work.. Here is the script
ActionScript Code:
stop();
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,precedent);
btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,suivant);[code]....
When I launch the preview, flash tells me that there is two problems:
1- he is expecting a ")" or a "," on line 7
2- there is a "}" unexpected on line 15
Then I looked to my script again and again and I can't see where is the mistake..
I was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.
View 11 RepliesWe are using a Origin/Edge configuration for massive video delivery, and we are experiencing problems with huge audiences. Basically, when the edge server reaches thousands of users watching (6000) a live video in a single application, this instance is unloaded by the server with the following error:

In this situation, the CPU usage is something around 30%, the memory is almost unused, and the load average is very low. We are using FMIS 3.5.3 854a running in the CentOS.
I'm using Flash Pro CS5. My FLA file's code says
#include "myasfile.as"
myasfile.as holds my code, and starts with "@estr = function ()" When I go to export movie, I get "myasfile.as, Line 1 unexpected '@' encountered" Why do I get this message?
Im having a problem getting my code to navigate to a url in the same browser window, here is what I've got:
private function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void{ switch(e.target){ case casestudyBtn: navigateToURL(headerVO.caseStudyURL, "_self"); break; case campaignBtn: navigateToURL(headerVO.campaignURL, "_self"); break; } }
It keeps returning the error "1084: Syntax error: expecting rightparen before _self.
i was building a simple menu shown on a tutorial entitled Drop Down Menu and Linking it: Flash Toturial. Im using Flash CS3 action script 3.0 and i recieve this error 1087 syntax error extra characters found after endo fo program.
View 4 Replies1.) I have the following exact code for a button in a keyframe on the timeline (not in the button itself and of course excluding the quotes)
"
on (release) {
getURL ("www.yoursite.com", "_blank");
}
"
and I get the following error when I try and preview in Flash CS3 1087 : Syntax error: extra characters found after end of program.
2.) Also, I have another layer with a "stop" action taking place at the same time that this button occurrs, however, once I have the script in the keyframe for the button, it seems to override the stop action. So, basicly, IM looking to stop the movie and get this button to, once clicked, open a web address.

A friend of mine gave me this template that she want me to edit (change color etc) but when I try to export it, it gives me this error 1084: Syntax error: expecting identifier before 21431. (13 times - on every as file it loads from) 21431 = the name of the .fla file, also there's a folder called "21431_fla" where it loads a bunch of as files from. When I choose "Go to source" on one of the errors in the compiler it opens up a file (i.e. AboutPageContents_35.as) from the 21431_fla folder - and I guess the error comes from (and I did some searching on the web regarding this) it starting with the line;
ActionScript Code: package 21431_fla As I understand it reports the error because you can not load a package that starts with a number? I haven't change any code, so I'm curious how it could work before I edited the colors? And how do I fix it so it works I post a .zip file so you guys could check it out; [URL]
while i'm publishing iOS app from Flash, i get that thing

I'm trying to publish my AIR app from Flash CS5. Publishing has been fine, until I tried to use my own icon.
In the Adobe AIR 2.5 settings, under the ICON tab, I select my icon.
Now when I publish, I get the error: application.icon is an unexpected element/attribute
Now even if I don't include the icon, I can't publish.
I've found a ton of articles on fixing the same problem re application.version is an unexpected element/attribute - but nothing on this icon prob.
I've just found this ActionScript and tried it out in my Flash MX file. However, when I preview the movie, it comes up with 2 errors - either for unexpected } or expected {.[code]...
