Apr 9, 2008I have 3 dynamic text boxes on the main movies stage that are getting their values from an externally loaded swf. If statements within the external movie loads the values from an xml file depending on which action is selected by the user. Now I have a fourth text box that needs to gather all the values that are loaded in the other 3 and add them together...placing zero if nothing is loaded. I have done various code tests...I get either NAN or _level0.total ...total is the instance name of one of the boxes, I am trying to access.

Jun 18, 2009So i'm working on this website and I want to be able to switch out the entire color scheme on the website everytime a button is pressed, I've stepped away from flash for awhile and actionscript 3 is new me. Plus I haven't quite found any truely useful stuff on forums yet.
What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.
What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.
//"homeText" being the name of dynamic text field and "Button" the name of the button and "background" being the movie clip that is the background within the flash file.

Jul 25, 2009I have a INPUT TEXT inside a mc called "txt mc" and DYNAMIC TEXT in the main time line.I'm trying to display what's typed in the INPUT TEXT (my_Input_Txt) in the DYNAMIC TEXT boxes (my_Dyn_Txt1, my_Dyn_Txt2, my_Dyn_Txt3).Here's the code. But it won't simply work perhaps because the INPUT TEXT is inside a MC. I need to have the INPUT TEXT INSIDE THAT MC while having the DYNAMIC TEXT boxes out in the main time line.

Nov 6, 2010I'm having trouble with subtracting hp (a number in a dynamic text box). There's a variable on the main timeline for hp, and I'm trying to edit this when the character takes a hit.My character has over 350 hp at the beginning, but after one hit, it goes down to something like 1 or 6, and then after the next couple hits it'll go back to something in the 100s or 200s.

There's a page that displays the scores for each test a user has completed; and on that page I'm putting a print button so the users can print the results. So far I've found only one script that will actually work to print anything at all[code]...
The dynamic text boxes are supposed to be placed inside a movie clip called "proforma" and you're supposed to be able to place it anywhere, even off the stage - but where it apparently worked for the person in the thread I found it in, it doesn't work in my program. I don't know if it prints the dynamic text boxes; I can't get that far, because when I click print using this script, it tries to print every single frame in the program and practically kills my computer in the process, trying to spool so many pages.

However, this does not return a result. Is there something I'm doing wrong here, or do I have to feed the array into normal variables for the dynamic text box to be able to read it?
