IDE :: Styling Text In Dynamic TextField With Background Color
Jan 28, 2009
I am trying to style text in a dynamic text field with a background color (not the whole textfield background, but just of the text - like the effect when you select it). My textfield is on top of a photo, which might explain why I'm trying to do this.
I have a dynamic textfield that displays different text. What I want is the ability to control both the text color and the background color of the textfield.
I am looking for a way to change the background color in a text field, except not change the background color of the whole textfield, just the color behind the characters.
I am creating a button when rollovered produces a textfield. Now, I am producing text lines in this textfield and I want the produced lines to be in different color depending on the value of x. [code]...
I am looking to change the background color of a input textField when the user selects that testfield to start populating it. I have done a bunch of searching and I keep coming up with this type of answer...
Code: myTextField.onSetFocus = Set(evt:Event){ // Change color }
Problems...
1) Is onSetFocus/onKillFocus still available? From what I can tell it is not.
2) I have my text objects encapsulasted in a class so I do not believe I am able to do it like I have been suggested.
I'd like to be able to click on each of the buttons and have the background color change and also have its color name loaded in the dynamic text field. E.g. Clicking the white square would change the background color to white and should also display the text ''white'' in the dynamic text box. I've sorted out the colour changing part with the following code:
I am having a problem styling a dynamic text (see code below) as the font and font size are not working on our movie. Can you spot, what we could be doing wrong?
In the Flash IDE, I have made a dynamic text field bold. When the Flash is compiled and run, the bold styling disappears. How do I retain the bold styling?
I'm populating a dynamic text field using instance_mc.textField_txt.htmlText = "some string of text";Can this method of populating a text field be styled with CSS? or do you have to use an external text file?One thing I have tried is using basic html tags <br> tags in the string and this works, and so does <b> bold is there away of just specifying in the string a different font size and colour?I've tried writing an inline css style and this didn't seem to work.My text field is not created with as, but the movie clip in which the text field resides is added from the library in a function.say for example i have "Ricky55<br>Some Street"; is it possible to make Ricky55 in a larger font that some street?
I'm trying to format some dynamically loaded text with CSS from a database via asp, I know that the asp works fine as it loads in, its just applying a style to the loaded text that doesn't work. This is a modified version from the Kirupa tutorial, but I cannot get it to work after many, many hours.
So i'm working on this website and I want to be able to switch out the entire color scheme on the website everytime a button is pressed, I've stepped away from flash for awhile and actionscript 3 is new me. Plus I haven't quite found any truely useful stuff on forums yet.
What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.
What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.
//"homeText" being the name of dynamic text field and "Button" the name of the button and "background" being the movie clip that is the background within the flash file.
Button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Button_CLICK); function Button_CLICK(e:MouseEvent):void{ background.play(); homeText.TextFormat(color "0x000000");}
I'm not sure if my code is just sloppy or if i'm completely going the wrong route here.
I have this code that should change the color of a dynamic textfield when I rollover the link movieclip, and then back when I rollout. I get no compiler error, it just doesn't work.
I'm dynamically loading a CSS file and text file to populate a TextField. As far as the default styles are concerned, no problem!But as soon as I try stuff like p.title, the style is not applied. Is this a restriction of the CSS support that Flash/Flex offers? Do I have to resort to the "simpel-style-selectors" like ".title" or "p" in my CSS?
Works:
Code: .title { color:#FF0000; }
Doesn't work:
Code: p.title { color:#FF0000; }
ps: I know that Flash doesn't support everything that CSS has to offer, but I'm looking for confirmation of someone who can tell me for a fact that the above p.class-selector is not supported.
I can not for the life of me figure out how to change the background color of my input text field,I can change the type and stroke color but in cs3 I see no option for background color, and at the same time have the background opacity lowered so the background of the site can be somewhat showing through. like have the opactity of the background color be at 70-80%.
The selected text in white is really not good visible selected.Why flash does not suppor that?http://lionhead.nl/voorbeelden/flash_selected_text_error/Flash%20text% 20error.htmlHow come there is nowhere to set anything to make this work properly. Like in html does this automatic?Adobe is this a bug or not for this?
I am trying to change the background color of a textInput field. I have tried: ActionScript Code: var textInputFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); textInputFormat.color = 0xFF0000; _textInput.setStyle("backgroundColor", textInputFormat); However this doesn't want to work.
I'm creating a text editor and I want users to be able to select only part of a textfield and change the color.The problem I'm running into is the ColorPicker gains focus (I'm guessing) and the textfield loses it's "selection."All examples of text editing show the entire textfield changing color.
Say I have a class that extends TextField and I want to have it set a default text color to black (0x000000) when initiated. Easy enough. But then say, when the XML finishes loading and the user has decided to change the color of that textfield to red (0xFF0000), what would be the easiest way to change the text color of that field? The only way I can think to do it is to change the textformat color via public method? Would this be correct or is there an easier way?
I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?
I have an input text box (txtInput) and a dynamic text box (dynTxt). I want the dynamic text to stay black but highlight a segment of that text in yellow depending on certain characters.
I'm pulling text from an xml file into a dynamic text field and I need to highlight the text one paragraph at a time depending on where the timeline playhead is. I was thinking of doing this by changing the color of the text but I don't know how to do it inside the CDATA tags.At the moment one CDATA populates one text field.Another option is that there would be a movie clip behind the text that would jump to highlight a specific paragraph but then I would need to know how much vertical space each paragraph takes.
I am trying to change the text color in a dynamic text field with xml.[code]but this creates a text field for you, which I dont need it created already have a dynamic text field with the var mybtninfo.What I have right now to get the text to show up in the field is:now only want to change the color of the text in the box thru XML.
