I'm making an interface with quite a few dynamically generated instances of the Button component. I'm trying to animate the buttons' alpha. The graphical elements in the buttons change alpha as expected, but the text label does not. I thought this issue would be fixed simply by using setStyle() to specify an embedded font, but even with an embedded font I cannot alter the alpha.

I want to alpha the clip to 0 but have the outerglow remain, almost like a stroke, how this can be done, inside the mc is a PNG, so really I'm trying to create a dynamic stroke around the non - transparent portion of the PNG.

The 2nd is a series of button logo PNG's for an additional visual button state change.I add the logo MC with addChild to the button body. Then I add the button body to display/stage container. ll is layered correctly.If I add alpha or transform the color to the button body, it goes to the top - covering the button logo.Not applying the color or alpha to the button body and applying a color or alpha to the button logo has not effect (displays correctly).
View 4 RepliesAs far as I know theres in no way to cahnge the alpha of a dynamic text box. I put one in a movie clip and when i try to change the alpha of it everything else in it changes its alpha but the not the DT box. Could someone plz verify for me that u can't change alpha and help me find a component that allows alpha control with a dynamic text box. thx in advance.
View 5 RepliesWhen applying text formatting to a comboBox, the text formatting appears perfectly on the dropdown menu items but the textField text disappears.Removing the text formatting from the textField makes the textField text reappear but of course there is no text formatting.
Is there a trick to this.
I'm importing XML text and sticking it in a text field. The text has some <span> tags with classes. Also importing a CSS file (verifying that it is importing correctly - at least when I trace it it says [object StyleSheet] - can I trace styles within a stylesheet? Or do an "exploded" trace that shows me everything in the stylesheet?)

I am interested in applying text to each side of the cube.I feel like anything is possible with AS3.I have tried attaching the text at various points in the code to see what happens.I am at a point where I think maybe I need to write a separate threeD var for the text and attach that to each of the cubes sides.I am attaching the code in it's current state, which simply has text var "Can You See" placed in the middle with the cube rotating around it.he code is a bit long with comments to sort things out:

I've noticed a difference in the sharpness/brightness of text color (excluding the smoothed character edges) when enabling font embedding, do the rendering tecniques include a sort of blending with the background to less enthe text's visual impact?

Instead of making a goto frame 7 on the button on one frame for example and then a goto frame 8 on button on the next frame is there a way i could just put go forward 40 frames for example and apply that to the button on each frame, so on frame 1 the button would take u to frame 41 and on frame 3 it would take u to frame 43.furthermore, is there a way i could make it go back say 40 frames to switch the view back?

I am wondering how to apply perspective to a dynamic/static text field in CS3? I have tried a few ways, but I can't get farther than skewing. This is the pane on which I would like to place the text. Could someone tell me if there is a way to get the same perspective?
View 3 RepliesIn a mc is a dynamic textfield, trough as this textfield gets his content. The textfield works fine and also the html text displays/works as supposed. No problem at all. But now I put a rollOver/Out on this mc with the textfield, the text shows up allright, but the html doesnt work anymore (I mean the hyperlinks, the rest is okay)

I'm just starting to delve into AS, so this should be easy. I'm applying a simple alpha fade to the onEnterFrame event of a movie clip using AS, and inside that movie clip there is a dynamic text box that gets its content from an XML file. The fade works fine on everything except the text - the whole movie clip fades in, but the text just instantly "jumps into existence".
View 1 RepliesI'm very close to finishing the creation of a Flash Event Calendar app but I am having trouble with something I feel should be very easy. I'm adding text to a textbox dynamically based on how many events are on the selected day.
For some reason though the styles are only being applied to the last set of text being added. for example, if there are three events on a certain day, i will list the three events but only the 3rd event will have the styling. If there's 2 events that day, the 2nd event will have styling, if there's 10 events, the 10th event will have the styling. Why are they not all being styled and only the last one?
I'm trying to format some dynamically loaded text with CSS from a database via asp, I know that the asp works fine as it loads in, its just applying a style to the loaded text that doesn't work. This is a modified version from the Kirupa tutorial, but I cannot get it to work after many, many hours.

View 2 RepliesI am using flash to create an animation where text, once converted into a movieclip or a button, fades at a certain point. To do this I am using the text tool and converting the text into a movieclip.
I am trying to make the text fade away by using the alpha property, but the preview will never adjust the movieclips alpha value. I've tried embedding the font and linking it but it still just doesn't work.
I converted a static text field to a mc then thirty frames later inserted a keyframe and droped the mc's alpha to zero.. then created a motion tween between the keyframes... yet for some reason the text isnt fading when I test the movie... it works fine in the flash authoring environment as you click through the frames but it doesnt in the test movie mode.. any suggestions? ( i broke the text apart down to shapes and it worked fine, but that of course will cause indexing problems for content with google so this really isnt an option)

The links on the site above have a nice alpha tween effect. It looks like the rollover fades out the alpha so that the links appear brighter. When you rollout the alpha reduces.
What would be the best/most logical way to do this? I presume you create some AS that contols the alpha tween and keep this on the timeline as a function. Then for each button you call the function.
I'm trying to set the rtBtn to 100% alpha after the tableButton has been pressed by the user. Currently rtBtn is living on the stage and set to 25% alpha. I've gotten all the other parts of this code to work, except the color transform. I imagine I'm declaring it improperly.... any suggestions? Originally I was trying to apply a tint, but that seemed to be only AS 3.0?..[code]
View 2 RepliesI have a game and the user clicks on a button (a_btn), they are brought to frame 2 and they have to answer a question. If they get the question correct the alpha transparency of the a_btn is set to zero.
What I would like to be able to do is see if a number of buttons have zero alpha transparency then the user gets a complete message. This is what I have so far:

i really can't belive i'm asking this, but i've been about an hour trying to look after a solution for this but I couldnt find nothing. i'm trying to change a movieclip's alpha when the swf loads and when I press an existing button. the problem is that that movieclip is inside a button and as3 has a problem with it.

i'll ask it differently this time. I just want the button to fade out on rollover. at the same time, i would like text (that is loaded externally in a text field called "caption") to fade in also on rollover. i've tried sooooo many things - scavenging this board and others.
