ActionScript 3.0 :: Applying Text To A Flash 3D Object?

I am interested in applying text to each side of the cube.I feel like anything is possible with AS3.I have tried attaching the text at various points in the code to see what happens.I am at a point where I think maybe I need to write a separate threeD var for the text and attach that to each of the cubes sides.I am attaching the code in it's current state, which simply has text var "Can You See" placed in the middle with the cube rotating around it.he code is a bit long with comments to sort things out:

let's say i have this object on stage and it is called myShape and i want to manipulate it via action-script and apply a gradient color to it .. no if it is a fill color i could have used the colortransform method but i don't think that it will work ..

I'm very close to finishing the creation of a Flash Event Calendar app but I am having trouble with something I feel should be very easy. I'm adding text to a textbox dynamically based on how many events are on the selected day.
For some reason though the styles are only being applied to the last set of text being added. for example, if there are three events on a certain day, i will list the three events but only the 3rd event will have the styling. If there's 2 events that day, the 2nd event will have styling, if there's 10 events, the 10th event will have the styling. Why are they not all being styled and only the last one?
When applying text formatting to a comboBox, the text formatting appears perfectly on the dropdown menu items but the textField text disappears.Removing the text formatting from the textField makes the textField text reappear but of course there is no text formatting. Is there a trick to this.
Problem 1: Flash crashes when a Blur filter is applied to a TextLine object. Correction: It was not the Blur filter but this line, which caused a crash: trace(tb.findNextWordBoundary(5)); whereby tb is a TextBlock element.
I'm using Flash CS5 proefessional and trying to do a demonstration. The demonstrationincludes a rope-like lanyard that is quite long and needs to bend at many many points. After successfully applying the bone tool to the object, I tried moving it with Free Transform.However, when I do so, the lanyard suddenly disappears, besides a couple tiny pieces. I didn't delete the previous layer, and I had unioned everything before breaking it apart again to apply the Bone tool.
regarding adding multiple childs to an array these childs are added using timer after a time interval.actually there two classes and child of both classes are added to stage one through timer as i described and other through keyboard event. now is it possible to do this if yes than how?? and is it possible to apply hittest object between these two array.
I have a button I am creating from 2 movieclips in the library. One is the button body (shape converted to MC). The 2nd is a series of button logo PNG's for an additional visual button state change.I add the logo MC with addChild to the button body. Then I add the button body to display/stage container. ll is layered correctly.If I add alpha or transform the color to the button body, it goes to the top - covering the button logo.Not applying the color or alpha to the button body and applying a color or alpha to the button logo has not effect (displays correctly).
I am developing a paint board application using flash builder. User can draw some shapes objects(ellipse, circle, rectangle). I want to implement grouping/un grouping feature some like ms-word in my application. I group multiple objects by putting them inside a container(UIComponent). Now i apply resizing to container and it resize well. I am using a free object handler API to apply selection handle over the container. I want to resize and reposition all children with respect to container changed size. Every thing goes well until all children inside container are having rotation = 0. But if there is any child which is having rotation >0 and <0 things goes worse. The child resize but not in a proper manner. I stretch the parent container width and it increase the height of rotated child. Is there any way using Matrix class or something else to transform all children in same direction and same ratio respective to container?
I'm importing XML text and sticking it in a text field. The text has some <span> tags with classes. Also importing a CSS file (verifying that it is importing correctly - at least when I trace it it says [object StyleSheet] - can I trace styles within a stylesheet? Or do an "exploded" trace that shows me everything in the stylesheet?)

First an issue applying antialiasing to my text, it seems to not be used if the text color is anything but white. The second also regards the cell renderer. I've noticed a difference in the sharpness/brightness of text color (excluding the smoothed character edges) when enabling font embedding, do the rendering tecniques include a sort of blending with the background to less enthe text's visual impact?
I'm making an interface with quite a few dynamically generated instances of the Button component. I'm trying to animate the buttons' alpha. The graphical elements in the buttons change alpha as expected, but the text label does not. I thought this issue would be fixed simply by using setStyle() to specify an embedded font, but even with an embedded font I cannot alter the alpha.
I am wondering how to apply perspective to a dynamic/static text field in CS3? I have tried a few ways, but I can't get farther than skewing. This is the pane on which I would like to place the text. Could someone tell me if there is a way to get the same perspective?
In a mc is a dynamic textfield, trough as this textfield gets his content. The textfield works fine and also the html text displays/works as supposed. No problem at all. But now I put a rollOver/Out on this mc with the textfield, the text shows up allright, but the html doesnt work anymore (I mean the hyperlinks, the rest is okay)

I'm just starting to delve into AS, so this should be easy. I'm applying a simple alpha fade to the onEnterFrame event of a movie clip using AS, and inside that movie clip there is a dynamic text box that gets its content from an XML file. The fade works fine on everything except the text - the whole movie clip fades in, but the text just instantly "jumps into existence".
I'm trying to format some dynamically loaded text with CSS from a database via asp, I know that the asp works fine as it loads in, its just applying a style to the loaded text that doesn't work. This is a modified version from the Kirupa tutorial, but I cannot get it to work after many, many hours.
If you have a CSS ready, an XML file that already appears inside a dynamic text field, what AS2 code would you use to connect the CSS so it applies to the XML file which is now unstyled?
I am editing a custom calendar application in flash. The purpose of this app is to let you select your own images, and create a calendar out of it. You can basically, drag and drop images of your choice and they apply frame/borders, or drag and drop embellishments.

I need to somehow apply the chosen frame image, to the entire background - not just to the embellishment or image. How do I go about this?
I'm trying to apply a padding to the top of my TextField instance in my Flash application, much like you would using CSS.
I haven't found any way to do this. You'd expect it to be a part of the TextFormat or StyleSheet classes, but it's in neither. I sort of found a workaround by adding htmlText to the top of the TextField with <br /><br /> in it, but adding entire lines of white space to the top isn't desirable.
I have a MovieClip that consists of multiple layers, one of those layers is an animated background Shape. let's call this MyMovieClip with the background shape have the instance name "mcBackground";
I'm adding the MovieClip to the stage from ActionScript by:

This works fine and when the movie clip is added to the stage it plays as expected (background is moving).
The problem is when I try to apply a colorTransform to the background shape, it stops from moving. what I'm doing is this inside the MyMovieClip class:
I am trying to construct a line dynamically, with a start and end gradient. I want to avoid using a GradientBox, as the lines are dynamic. All I want to do is have the line start red, end blue. This code does not work though :(
I'm trying to write a flash application which takes a Microphone stream and applies realtime effects and outputs this back to the speakers. I'm finding I'm having problems with stuttering when taking the output from the mic, copying this into a ByteArray amd then using a seperate
sound = new Sound(); sound.addEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA, processSound); sound.play();
to read from this ByteArray and play back the sound.I have noticed that the input from the mic's bytesAvailable changes, and also that the two events (the mic's SAMPLE_DATA and the sound's SAMPLE_DATA) aren't firing A B A B A B A B like would be needed but is more random.
Am I right in thinking that the mic.SAMPLE_DATA event fires at different intervals with different amounts of data and a working implementation would need to read the available data in and buffer the input so that the Sound SampleDataEvent would always have something to play back to avoid the stuffering?
I am writing an application that looks into an XML file and pulls out the images within. I would like to pull out the raw images and apply a mask to them dynamically.As you can see below i create a blank movie clip and put the images into it.. At this point i want to create the mask.

Im probably overlooking something simple, but when I try to draw a rectangle Flash is automatically applying a corner radius. I've tried resetting the options in the Properties Inspector, which resets to the default, but soon as a draw a shape it goes right back to a random radius.
I'm very new to Flash CS3 and have set myself the task of creating a flash based website, with the same functionality as [URL] creating the drop down menu - I believe I should be exploring rollovers/rollouts and also applying easing effects, however I have no idea what kind of actionscript to use.
Is it possible to create gradient text with text in a text field, without using a different object?
I have three text fields sitting right next to each other, to create a row. Some times the text is longer than the width of the text field, I don't want to widen the the text field to make it fit, I just want to fade the last 20 - 50 pixels of the text out.
Is this possible to do without using an object above it, such as a gradient?
Just learning Flash CS4 and I can't believe you can't create or set tabs in a text object.You can set tabs for editing actionscript, but not in a text object. Are you kidding me? Even wordpad can do this.
