I have a contact from on a website i am making in flashCS4, i have the PHP script written for me and i have the Action Script to submit this information. i am now looking to add a browse and a upload form.

- browse local file with button.browse
- select one and save it as a FileReference.
- then we do FileReference.load() then bind the data to our image control.
- after we make a rotation on it and change the data of image.
- and to finish we upload it to a server.
To change the data of image i get the matrix of the displayed image and transform it then i re-use the new matrix and bind it to my old image:

Now the mater is that i really don't know how to send the data as a file to my server cause its not stored in the FileReference and data inside FileReference is readOnly so we can't change it or create a new, so i can't use .upload();.Then i tried HttpService.send but i can't figure out how you send a file and not a mxml.
I Have been using Kirupa for a while now, an excellent resource!! but have only just joined the forum. I have had a look at various Flash tutorials provided on the site but cant seem to find quite what I am after. I have a contact form on a site I am making and I want to be able to browse and add an attachment. I see Kirupa provides a tutorial on contact forms and one on uploading files to a server with flash but unless I am mistaken not a contact form with an attach facility? I would like the attachment to be send directly to the e-mail address along with the other information. View 3 RepliesI am trying to have my image uploader have a browse button and submit button (because the submit button will be sending information from a few text fields as well and they need to be sent at the same time).
I've been fiddling around with it and I can't seem to figure it out.. I tried just having the browse function on a separate button but im failing miserably..

Is there a way to create a form in which the user can upload a file (like a pdf) with the click of a button? I do not find any component capable of doing that. I presume this could be done with ActionScript.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to put together a news system which allows users to write a headline, a short article (300 words)then upload an image to with the piece.I can do the text part with LoadVariables ("uploader.php" , this, "POST" ) which just sends the vars to php and then on into an SQL table and I can do the upload image part with the code below (taken from a Kirups tutorial) - but I can't seem to do both in one go .I Don't care if the image goes to a blob in SQL or into the file system of the server - I just need the text posted to SQL and the image uploaded.

I have been working on the multi upload form over the past couple of days. It's a variation of stuff i have found about the net. The form has to buttons. One for single file uploads and one for multi file uploads.The single file upload button works as it is supposed to but the multi file upload but although does upload all selected files it does not fire off any events.

It has to have three fields (name, phone, and email) and three more fields where they can upload images from their computer. There's gonna be a submit button that when they hit, it emails these six pieces of info. (Presumably using a PHP file.)

I am trying to make a form in flash. But I have two problems, first, I need the form with any way to attach files that are sent along with the form data to an email. And second, i need a button with names of people and depending on which name you choose, the form data and the attach are sent only to these people (the chosen names).
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a custom order form(for a printing company) where the user can select their product, enter their credit card details and then upload the file. I've created the combo box & user input text fields. Now what I want is that when user clicks the submit button:
1. A mail is sent to the admin which contain all the details about the form that was filled by the user.
2. The file that is uploaded by the user should also be sent as attachment in the same mail. I'm not able to figure out how to add the feature of file upload in ActionScript.
3. This one is optional, but will add value to me if possible. The website is developed in Wordpress. Can we have a feature where a logged in user can save his order and come again later and retrieve his order form.
I'm trying to write a little flex app that has a paint/canvas type feature to draw an image, which I then want to post to a rails server side. I'm following the post here, but can't get as far as he did due to the following error: NoMethodError (undefined method `rewind' for #):I googled that and found this which says the problem is due to an empty filename, but I thought I had that from the example. However, I altered the example to simplify the post by reducing the form parameters, but I could have easily messed something up since I really don't know what I'm doing with this multipart form content. I was hoping to at least log the request params, but unfortunately I can't, since it's failing before being routed and due to my inexperience with rails. I'll ask that in a separate question and hopefully be able to edit this question with the request params.

Okay, so I am calling my scripts from the folder "php/" Thus, my FileReference calls "php/upload.php" to upload. However, my uploads are in "uploads/" and not in "php/uploads". When the PHP script is called, it apparently ignores the caller (the SWF file) and looks for uploads in its own directory (the "php/" folder). It may be a PHP question, but how do I reference the uploads folder as being in the parent directory of the php files in my PHP script?

I am having some issues with a php email form that I am using in my AS3 project. the form works perfect and all communication is good.however when the user is on the page and wants to tab to the next text field it jumps to one of my hyperlinks on the same page and not to the next text field down on the php form.
is there any way to stop this from happening.I have tried placing the php form on a seperate layer in a seperate mc and I have done the same with the hyperlinks .you can see what I mean by visiting this development site.(after entering go to contact)http:[url].....
I have only two fields Name and Email in a Order form and a PayPal button for payment at PayPal ( into my account).I can do the mail portion but have no idea about PayPal code, however on search here I found one code and after pasting this one to the PayPal button it redirects to my PayPal account.But the question is anybody can post a message and leave the site without paying me. How can I do this thing so that the user will forced to pay before posting the mail form.
View 1 RepliesI have a super involved and somewhat silly site I've been working on for a long time piecing together fragments of AS2 code and modifying them to the best of my limited ability.The site is here:http:[url]....I am finally adding the last steps, a series of contact forms with a PHP script in the back end. Anyway, I implemented a form script and have it triggered by clicking the "CONTACT" button you can see on the lower bar. So, click contact and once the form opens (an external SWF loaded into an MC), type away and everything works fine unless you use the letter "f" in either upper or lowercase. It causes the screen to flash and for the form input to lose focus.It works (in that you can enter everything normally -- the form doesn't function, but that's just the PHP which I have yet to edit.)

I am trying to call the browse() method of the FileReference class from JavaScript (a user clicks on a text that uses the ExternalInterface to call a method in Flash).Unfortunately, I receive an error that tells me it has to be a direct action of the user (like clicking a button). I have searched through Google and realized this is a new security feature in Flash 10.The only solutions I could find was to put a Flash button or to have a hidden flash button over the text, that will call the browse() method.I wanted the browser only to show JavaScript and all the Flash code only called from JavaScript.

On all of my computers, the form works fine (Mac + PC); my client, however, reports a 20-second delay on opening the second browse dialog box (the first one opens right away). Client is on a Mac with latest Flash player version. If he double-clicks it, there is no delay. If he first clicks the second button, the delay is on the first.

I have created an image cropper application that upload an image, crop it and generates an jpg to server.BUT, this works perfectly well locally at my Mac at work, online on the server, but not locally at my laptop at home???Why and what the *** can I do?Everything seems fine. I click browse, and the fileReference opens the finder dialog box. But whatever I press, doubleclick the image, press select etc, flash tracks this as if I clicked cancel. The fileRef.onCancel activates, insted of the onSelect???Could it be something wrong with my flash program? Is it anything I can do to fix this (change somthing in the preferenced etc.)?
View 0 RepliesI am using a filereference.browse box so that users can upload images.although the browse box has a cancel button on it, I am also creating an mc_cancel button ( just in case the user's OS's browse does something funny ).currently, when mc_cancel is pressed, I call my_file_ref.cancel() ... but it doesn't actually close the box ... is it supposed too?
