I've been following tutorials for reading in xml data, but I'm having trouble referencing the different nodes. In the following example I'm just trying to view.[code]No errors or anything.I don't get it. The xml loads in the first place, (trace(xml)), but I can't access the individual nodes.

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor

What I need is for each of the nodes highlighted in green to return the child Nodes. Example: when I move the mouse over the menu Indoor lighting, the results should be: Indoorlighting | LED 10W> 3W LED> LED 6W
For those unfamiliar with tree structures, tree structures are usually dynamic lists where every node has a pointer to two other nodes. They are arranged so it makes for faster searching and stuff and are very useful in programming languages that offer direct access to heap memory. Although I don't know if there would be benefits of making tree structures in AS would be of any help but I decided to have a go at it anyway. Since there are no pointers in flash I tried to just replace pointers to nodes with nodes themselves. Such things usually work in java I think because the language just automatically makes pointers for variables.

I have a series of large fla files that were being published into swc's and then used directly in an flash project. Probably a total of 1000+ objects. As the number grows the final compiled swf is getting quite large so I want to download individual swf's of each object only as needed. I then need to be able to access and clone the object via classname from the final AS project.
The issue is the only way I have found to export each one is to 1) copy and paste it into a new fla file 2) double click to 'edit' it to force it included, 3) reset the linkage (class) name since it was wiped, 4) publish (i.e. file->publish) and name this swf. This will take quite a while for 1000+ of these.
While you can right-click on each item in the library to save it as a swf, it appears NOT to include the classname etc, just the item. Once I download this, I cannot clone to use it more then once without downloading it again which is unacceptable.
Is there a faster/better way to generate these swf's?
(I did look into xfl briefly but it looks like writing a script to do this given some of the unknowns there will take longer then just doing it by hand.)
Any open source programs or any other software that can create isometric buildings that are compatible with flash (i.e. being able to manipulate the individual layers like that of an imported Adobe Illustrator file)?

I have found in the documentation that EncryptionScope can be set to content or server. If I set it to server and use FlashAccessV2 as ProtectionScheme, how or where do I specify the Flash Access certifications and so on?
View 4 RepliesIs there a way where I can compile or build different frame rates into the various layers I create using an action script?? I.e. If there are say six layers running in a particular player, each layer should be running at a different frame rate, independent of each other
The problem am facing is am playing multiple media content in multiple layers (masked, so that it appears as if all the layers are playing in the same level) and each media content played in different layers needs to be played at a different frame rate to get a good visual effect!

So the user would select the data set they want, a PHP script queries the database, and then puts that data into a XML file. This part is working fine. However I can not seem to get the data to display correctly in Flash. I tried the tutorial on this site for Flash and XML, and it works, but only displays one result. this is supposed to return an XMLList of Groups anywhere in the xml. This works fine if I have more than one , but fails if there is only one .Am I wrong in my assumption that it should return one? I trace xml..Group.length() and it is 0, but the Group is definately in the xml.Any ideas on how you can get one or more Group nodes from my xml?

2) Load each one of those names into a predefined movie clip which would display the name
3) randomize the placement of each name in a given shape area so that the Movie clips with names would randomly fill in to make a specific shape.

What should I use to test my swf movies on another (not my development machine) ?When I open them with IE or firefox the Flash active x player doesnt have the zoom 100% option so I end up with distorted (resized to window) swf is there a standalone flash player for that kind of purposes or something?

from [3,4,1,2,2] it would be 2 - ([1,2,3,4] twice, but ignore [1,2,3]*2 and [2,3,4]*2)
from [9,6,7,5,8] it would be 1 - ([5,6,7,8,9])

from this I will be able to multiply the values under 2,3 ad4 4 and multiply them by 3, so I would get 2*1*1 * 3

What is the simpliest way to find an occurance of some sequance of bytes (string) in a long byte array?
UPD: I tried to do
my_byte_array.toString().indexOf(needle_string);
the problem is that in flash/air string consist of utf8 characters, so indexOf will return value different from offset of "string" in a byte array (actually it's zip archive)
