Oct 22, 2009I am trying to capture enter key in my application. I can get the event firing, but when i try to access a variable outside the function it says it is undefined. Flash Player v8. Actionscript 2.
Here is main part of the code:

The Alert.show pops up a box with the contents specified. So when i run this code and press the "enter" key, i get the alert popup box , which shows that the event is triggering ok. But the variable "listLength" shows as undefined. I wanted it to show the value 4. The main essence of my questiion is how can I access a variable outside the listener event function.
I have tried various combinations of public and private settings as well as prefixing the variable with _parent.
Actionscript 3 :: Flash : ENTER Does Not Get Detected But CTRL+ENTER Works Fine
Jun 23, 2011When my focus is inside the input text field, pressing CTRL+ENTER works but ENTER does not.Pressing Enter when my focus is anywhere BUT the input text field works just fine..My intention is to detect if ENTER key was pressed after the user fills out the field, but it seems to only work for CTRL+ENTER

ENTER results in charCode == 0, whereas CTRL+ENTER is charCode == 13 email was created using the Text tool and set to "Editable"

I have a TextArea chat input and a button to send the text, the TextArea is multiline and so captures the Enter key to jump one line... What I need is to send the message with the Enter key and jump with a Ctrl+Enter combination... My ideas were to disable the bubbling of the Enter key, trap it, and then manually assign the Ctrl+Enter combination to jumping the line in TextArea but couldn't find how to do all this...

Jun 16, 2009How do I capture events of an obj behind another?I have a button(btn1) which I am applying a tween to. This tween is responsible for fading the btn out using the alpha prop (to 0). Behind that btn is another (btn2). I am having trouble leaving btn1 in place (same x and y) and being able to press on btn2. I have removed the eventHandler for btn1 but it's still blocking the other button. Other than creating another var and checking in the tween on complete handler is there any way to leave btn1 in place but be able to click through it??

Flex :: Capture The RawResult For Calls ?
Oct 15, 2009I am using Flex and with the AS3 libraries.I can make calls etc but when i get values returned in the event,they are in RawResult. I am not sure how to turn that into an arraycollection etc so i can make use of it in flex, or if there is a better way of accessing the data, generally speaking.

May 14, 2011I'm trying to experiment with taking text from a textarea in a flex project and open it up in a php page. But the php isn't line breaking where it should be. An Example of the text i'd like to bring over to php would be:
You: Hi there
Them: Hello
You: This is a great example
Them: I know right?
Here's my php:

Right now I came up with something like this in the actionscript...

I also tried something like:

But apparently the isn't translating over no matter how I get the chatBox var so its not even making a <br/>. But, even if i did get that to work it wouldnt be ideal. Because eventually in the end I want to be able to just incorporate the pastebin API to paste this GET data and post it on there. And I don't think it would look too pretty with having <br/> after every line...Is it possible to bring this text over to php and recognize the line breaks in a way that would work well with what im eventually trying to accomplish?
