how you can change the colour / tint of a movie clip via code, and essentially via a RGB value specified in an external xml file.

Here is the xml file I'm working with right now...

PHP Code:

<Countdown year="2009" month="2" day="14" bgdcolour="0xFFFFFF" lcdcolour="0xFFFFFF" labelscolour = "0x000000" textcolour = "0x000000">

The bits highlighted in red bold above is the section where I've got stuck.. I have tried code: var bgdcolour:uint = Countdown.@bgdcolour; , but no luck and all I get is '16777215' in the output panel..

Apr 27, 2005

how do you control the backround colour of a movie clip and the stage? i have thought about placing a mc within the mc as a backround_mc, then change the tint attribute from my main timeline, is this on the right track?

i have a movie where a user loads images into an image viewer (mc) i have craeted. If a user clicks on gallery 1, the loader appears, and load the jpg and then tells the viewer to show onceloaded. But, if a user clicks on gallery 1, then clicks on gallery 2, the movie finishes loading picture 1, before loading picture 2, is there any waqy i can force the loader to stop loading one,a dn load two immediately.

I have careted a class, now, how do i assign an mc to be an object of that class, from the main timeline or the onclipevent load event

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get The Text To Change Colour At The Same Time/

Feb 22, 2011

I've got a background behind the text that changes colour once the mouse is rolled over. However I'm trying to get the text to change colour at the same time. The text box is slightly smaller than the background box for the time being. When I put my most over the box it changes colou rto red as expected. However, when I roll my mouse over the text box, it turns completely white. This again is expected, but not what I want. This is happening because the text is turning white as its supposed to, and the background is as well when the mouse is taken off. The about text is a button, and its default rollover state is making the background turn white as it rolls over the text layer. Is there some way prioritize the background? What needs to be changed in the code? Also the drop shadow turns off when I put my mouse over them the first time and I m not quite sure why...Here's my AS code:

import fl.transitions.Tween;import fl.transitions.easing.*;about_bg.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, manageMouseOver); about_bg.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, manageMouseOut);[code]....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Change Based On Local Time?

Feb 8, 2010

I've been looking into trying to develop a flash application that has images that will change based off of the time on the clock. For example, if I had an image of a landscape with the sun in the sky, at 11:59am the image of the sun at the highest point in the sky would display. If it was 9pm, an image would display showing a night time setting of that landscape. I've seen plenty of PHP scripts for this idea but nothing in regards to flash (AS2 or 3 )

I am a complete beginner and have no idea where to start this, hence i would need to know what to do and how to do it. I basically want the image to be a simple 2d image that i will create using different layers in photoshop and import them into flash, the layer images will all be one colour so the colour of the whole layer changes. so the colour palette will be on the side of this and when i click on an image and then a colour the image changes to the colour i clicked.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Posssible To Change Colour Of A Movie In Library

is it posssible to change the colour of a movie in the library, the same as you would an instance? At the moment I have a site I am working on where I want users to be able to change the colour scheme..I have a on(press) do function change colour.however when you go to a different scene it doesn't cary over the new colour.So I am thinking that I have to set a a var with the colour I have changed to, and call that var at the beging of each scene, does that sound right? I wanted a random colour, I thought that if I put the random colour into the function that each time the button is pressed that calls the function the colour would be different, but this is not the case.[code]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Changing Movie Clip Colour With AS?

Apr 16, 2008

I'm trying to get AS to change the colour of several MC's - but it's not working... I wondered if anyone could please tell me where I've gone wrong? I have 5 large MC squares - when hovered/rolled over they reveal text/colour within. That part works!

What I am trying to achieve is: When rolling over 1 of the squares (i.e. sq1) to tint the colour of the other 4 squares to grey - so that the one that is hovered over is full colour, but the other 4 are greyed out. On rollout of sq1, the other 4 grey squares return to their coloured state.

I worked through the Kirupa - Changing Colours with AS tutorial, and tried to apply that to my situation, but I still can't get it to work.

All the variables are dynamic and I have not been able to get to the child object.

var block_color = new Color("_root.c_Angola.c_1");
block_color.setRGB("0x234234");
OR
var block_color = new Color("c_1");
block_color.setRGB("0x234234");

Movie Clip Within Main Timeline Runs Slow/choppy First Time Around, But Not Second Time?

I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file.  When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline.  The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly).  Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

The particle creates local variables, such as it's gravity and color, in the first frame and then uses them to guide it's actions throughout it's lifetime (it fizzles out and dies, eventually).Frame 1 of particle_mc:

ActionScript 2.0 :: [CS3] Movie Clip Buttons Replay Over Local Connection

Feb 5, 2009

I seem to have a problem with re-playing my movie clip buttons for a second time.

it is a little bit more complicated than that as it is over two SWFs (I have attached both flash files).

The idea is that when on the 'home' page movie clip buttons can be used when both SWFs are running. This works from the original loading, but once navigated to another page/section and then returning to 'home', the buttons on the menu1 file stop reacting.

very frustrating as i know it is probably some very simple thing that will fix it, like a _root or a this. or a play rather than stop somewhere, but I've tried for 2 days and I still can't seem to figure it out.

Also, if anyone knows how i can reduce the amount of repeated actionscript I would be eternally gratefull.
