I have a TextField component that has some text added during the movie. This textfield has html set to true. The text that I am passing to it has html tags.
I want to copy the plain text that is displayed during the movie from the textfield to the clipboard without the html tags.

Mar 7, 2008I have this information that is pulled in from a PHP database and displayed in a textfield within flash which works fine BUT when I go to copy and paste that text into another textfield (a note facility) it then means I can't make a line break. I've tried all sorts with the text field and can't see any reason why it wouldn't allow it. Is there something about different text formats that mucks it up?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Apply Basic Text Formatting To TextField / XML Loaded Info?
Mar 8, 2010I'm workin' on a cool project for school. I'm loading up some text from an external XML doc, and bringing it in to a flash textField.
It's working great, but I want to do a little formatting, first off, apply a bold tag or a bold font to some headings.
Here's the .text field as I have it now:

(ps I finally figured out how to wire up my mp3's so they play, and pause, I just haven't loaded that swf up to my server... so if you press the music buttons and they don't play, that's the reason.)

Feb 21, 2007i'm pulling my hair over this. i have sucessfully (verified) loaded an xml file and can trace the data i'd like to pass. i am loading the external swf into an empty mc called X. in the external swf i am loading is a mc and in there is a dynamic textfield. i give the content of the xml to the path to the dynamic textfield and nothing happens. trying to pass the variable with: target.text = content;
i listed the variables and objects in the test movie debug option (command+enter) and i can see the dynamic text box variable. then i took copied the path from the output window to my actionscript, replaced _level0 with _root but still to no avail. what am i doing wrong? do i have to publish the swf being loaded in a certain way? why am i able to look at the variables in the debug list variables and objects option, but not in the actionscript?

Flash :: Copy To Bitmap Loaded In Sprite From Loader
Feb 25, 2010I want to load an external image (dest) and display it on the stage, and i want to load another image (src) which will not be visible. When i hold the left mouse button on the image that appears on the stage, then a function that start copies the src image to the dest will be invoked. Actually i want to reproduce the scratch effect on an image that hides another underneath. here is my code [ the copypixels function is triggered on mouse_move event for debug purposes ]

Although the two images are loaded into memory and the first one is shown on the stage, when the mouse_move events triggers the corresponding handlers the copy does not work.

It loads XML that provides the text content for the project, then it loads a swf that contains a font in its library, then it loads the first of several content module swfs. When the font swf has inited, I'm registering its library font with Font.registerFont(), and using it in a TextFormat object. After everything is done, I can add code to the document class to create a text field on the stage of the main swf and format it successfully with the TextFormat object, but when I try to do the same thing inside the loaded content module swf, the text doesn't show up there at all.

Feb 15, 2010I'm working on a chat application that retreives user profile icons from remote sources (e.g. Blogger, Yahoo, Gravatar, etc). Easy to get the images in a Loader and display them. The problem is that a single thread could have hundreds of records, but probably only 10-20 active commenters. In a standard browser, each <img...> link after the first one is cached, so you only hit the source site once. Is there any way to cache/store/copy those images within Flash to avoid requesting the same image over and over?
I can do it in the Local sandbox by accessing the BitmapData of the loader content and cloning a new bitmap for subsequent instances of the same request URL, but of course once the application moves to the Internet the security system requires a Policy file allowing bitmap access. I don't need to manipulate the bitmap at all, just copy it. Or reference it as content from multiple Sprites, or something along that line. Once I've downloaded the image once, I don't see why the security system would prevent me from displaying it unchanged as many times on the page as needed.

Oct 7, 2011A web channel streaming service streams to a certain IP range, it only checks the IP in example.com/cmd.php?id=xxx (channel number) and outputs an rtmpe stream URL, nothing else.How do I trick it to get my local URL instead of the one on their server? I have considered squid proxy, but is there some way to do it with a firefox plugin or greasemonkey script?
Edit:I will try to specify:It's a streaming service from an ISP and cable provider. They stream for free to people on their IP's. On their webtv page, which is called webtv.example.com, there is a flash player. If you are not on an IP from their ISP, you can't stream anything but the test channel.When you try to change channel via. javescript:videoplayer_changechannel(xxx) it makes this HTTP request:

If you are on one of their IP's you will get an RTMP URL, like this:
[URL]
This is what the flash player requests, and if it get's this response it load the channel requested. There is no HTML on the php page, just the URL. Note that the rtmp URL is static.If you are not on one of their IP's it will return a random sentence (something stupid, the programmers having fun).I wan't to trick the flash player into getting the right value, even though it's not on one of the ISP's IP's.

Apr 1, 2011Edit 04/04/11: It turns out that the UTF encoding was just hiding a bigger problem. I initially thought it was the UTF encoding as setting that seemed to solve the search problem, but it was more to do with how mongodb was serialising the search key in the background
I'm using Flash to create a small tool to generate db info for mongodb. It will generate something like:
db.save({"className":"mypackage.MyClass","name":"someName"});
And display that in a TextField so I can just copy and paste it directly into the db.
My problem comes with mongodb being unable to find that info later. After much debugging, the problem boiled down to the text not being entered in UTF-8 format. i.e., in order to make it work, I'd have to copy the line of text from Flash, paste it into something like Notepad++, set the encoding to UTF-8, then copy that text into the db.
is there a way to either specify that I want to generate the text as UTF-8 or copy as UTF-8 from the TextField to avoid having to have this extra step in my workflow.

IDE :: Copy / Paste Text Retain It's Formatting?
Jul 22, 2010I'm working for a client that needs me to put a lot of information into flash. He had someone do all the typing and all that in word, with formating and I went through and changed text colors where needed, and now when I'm trying to put it all into flash, it doesn't take any formatting at all. No indents, none of the bold settings, and none of the color settings. I really can't re-do all of the formatting, it would take ages and ages. There must be some way to get this formatting into flash from word (actually using a free program called bean, because i can't even get a copy/paste from word to work at all)
