ActionScript 3.0 :: Virtual Joystick - Flashes Back And Forth
May 20, 2009I have a virtual joystick that I am making for one of my games, and I'm having a problem with the KEY_DOWN command.

My problem is that I cant seem to get it to stop looping. I have a joystick in normal position in frame 1 of the joystick MC, and other positions in the other 4 frames. Here's what my code makes the joystick do. It flashes back and forth. I cant get it to stop pinging the function for gotoAndPlay, so it wont stop going to the right position.

Jun 13, 2011I've made a big empty circle, made it into an MC and it has the instance name of "MC"
I've made a small circle, made it into an MC and it has the instance name of "button". It's placed in the center of the big MC. The button MC has 2 frames, one with the small circle being in the middle, the other one with the small circle being at the edge with a pin under it.
I can't figure out how to do this, which is: when the user grabs the small circle, he can only move it around in circle at a fixed distance from the center of the big MC, thus not leaving the big mc area. When the user starts dragging the button, it should go to frame 2 in the button.
What I try to do here is a joystick, when the user releases the mouse, the joystick head goes back to the middle. When dragging the joystick head, the stuff on frame 2 inside the buttom mc should be rotated having the bottom of the stick fixed to the middle of the big circle.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Calendar Class With Updating Events Based?
Dec 2, 2010I have built a class based on a calendar script found here on this forum. I have modified the script to work in a class and expanded on the calendar by checking each day of the month against a database to see if there are events on that day. (if there is an event, the day movie clip goes to another frame to highlight said day)Everything works great.. at first glance. The first time the calendar loads, all the days are properly in place and the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGES runs correctly, highlighting the dates with events.
The problem occurs when the user changes the month. Everything again works the way it should except for the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE. This event only runs for each day the first time the calendar is loaded.

Nov 4, 2011I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking.How would the python backend integrate with the UI.

Apr 19, 2008I just looked into the styleSheet and TextFormat class for the first time and built a text scroller that pulls its content from a text file with html in it. I am having great problems with the fact that I can't add top and bottom padding to p, h, and spans. I actually am a bit puzzled by the fact, it is not supported. Since that is something I feel like I can't really live without. I am wondering if someone might have written a class that allows you to use those css properties in the style sheet or knows of someone who has, or of some other work around to do this. I did try adding an invisible "spacer" MC from the library via the img tag, but have to say, that at this point, that was rather unsatisfactory, as the amount of control I get, is not quite what I want it to be.

May 7, 2009I would like to add a very small and simple Flash audio player to my website. I have found lots of Flash MP3 players, but I can't seem to find players that will work with other types of audio files, such as aac/m4a/mp4.
I had previously been using Windows Media Server to stream WMA files on my site, but this only works for Windows users, and I need streaming to work for Mac users as well. So I think Flash is the way to go, but I cannot use mp3's because of licensing concerns.
I've been looking and looking for a flash player that supports other audio types, but can't find one. Is it true that flash has a native class for mp3, but doesn't have built-in support for others?
Media Server :: RTMFP Support In Flash 4
Sep 14, 2010I see that the new Flash Media Servers were released. Looking over the information on the product pages, Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 is the only available product that supports RTMFP connections?
We currently have Flash Media Server 3.5 and our product utilizes RTMP connections, but I've been working with your Stratus Server and RTMFP and have found that the new protocol better fits our needs. However, the price for Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 is beyond our budget. Is there any possibility that RTMFP support are/will be available in the lower levels of Flash Media Server?
