I am having problems while creating object with actionscript, I am new to it and I am getting some errors. I am creating my object this way
Code:
var myMC:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
myMC.x = 50;
myMC.y = 50;
myMC.name = "hunterToken";
tCursos.addChild(myMC);
And it is created, so far everything's good
Later I try to access the visible property, and I get an error

tCursos.hunterToken.visible=false;
And I get this error:

TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

Im dynamically creating an instance of a movieclip, call it a game piece. This game piece has 4 frames, each with a movieclip called base(although one is red, one blue, one green, one yellow). When the game piece is created I set the frame to indicate player color. Im also changing the alpha of base to 1.0 when its being dragged, 0.5 when its dropped.
Using the following code, everything works fine if the game piece color is set to the base in frame 1 (red). If the game piece is created and the timeline moved to a frame other than 1, I throw an error when trying to access base.alpha (this would be the second, third, and fourth instances of base in the game piece timeline). Heres the strange part, this is only a problem when the game piece is first created and added to the display list. Once created, even after the error has been thrown, I can access the alpha of bases 2, 3, and 4 in the drag start/stop listeners. I created a movieclip and linked it to a class called CustomButton. Inside the movie clip is a text field with name btnText. I then created a few buttons with this code:

So far, so good. Everything works ok and the code sets the text of the new movieclip. Now, I wanted to actually write the CustomButton class and add some properties and eventually do other stuff with it and so I wrote this:

I'm not new to Flash by any stretch of the imagination, but I have never come up against this problem before. For context, I'm actually getting my feet wet with the Tween class, and am having trouble animating dynamically created movieclips due to this confusion with coordinates. When I tween a dynamically created clip from one set of coordinates to another, they are offset by the movieclip's _x and _y properties starting at 0, 0, rather than their actual position on stage.

I need to create an Array of movieclips so that I'm able to read / modify / add its properties. I thought the best solution was to create an Array of strings with each movieclip's name and then using this to convert the string to an expression, but I don't really know what to do when I want to access one of its properties. Here's my code:

test.fla's document class is Test.as
test.fla's library has two MovieClips ThingMovieClip and Thing2MovieClip
I tried accessing the Thing.as public var thingState's property;
directly,
using something called Casting (??),
assigning an instance name,
but something that seemed so simple doesn't work,I commented the errors I got next to each way I tried,conversely how would I access the MovieClip Thing2MovieClip from Thing.as (which is a child of Test.as because that's where it's instantiated), it just doesn't recognise an object of its parent exists, here are the 2 classes:

I have a dynamic textfield in a libraried movieclip.
I referred to the movieclip from an external class and have the linkage setup for it.
However, no matter what I try to do to instanciate the text field inside it, I keep getting:
Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
Now I really want to have this dynamic textfield inside the movieclip because it's part of a preloader so I don't just want to addChild to the stage. So Now I think I can't just build it.
I've been working on this all afternoon long and can't seem to shake this error.

I am confronted with a simply yet annoying problem: I manually created a row of MovieClips inside another movieclip container_mc on the stage in the Flash CS4 Editor. The MovieClips are named in the same convention (eg. target_1_mc, target_2_mc, ...target_200_mc).
When I try to access a property of it via AS3 during runtime of the SWF like this, it works:
container_mc.target_0_mc.alpha = 0; But how do I access the MovieClip dynamically? During runtime, a script will determine of which MovieClip i need to access a property. I will get the ID number of the MovieClip I want to access. So I need to be able to to something like this:
var mc_ID:int = 2; ["container_mc.target_"+mc_ID+_mc""].alpha = 0;
Obviously, that doesn't work. When I would create all the target-MovieClips dynamically at runtime, I would simply put them in an array. But in this case I need to work with the existing MovieClips manually created in the Flash Editor.

I am having problems with the _alpha property of dynamic masks. For some reason they don't seem to accept it. I have a holder mc that I use as a mask and the holder is full of dynamic mcs for which I would like to set alpha properties.

I have a clip which is basically a set of button clips. When a button is clicked it fades (i used the ._alpha property) and finally when its 0 alpha, it removes itself (by using _visible=0 property). It works perfectly. Now when another button is clicked. I wanted the button which is currently not visible to restore its visibility. But using _visible=1; just isnt doing it (pastbutton._visible=1;). I tried a lot of trouble shooting, trace shows that the correct button path of the last invisible button is stored in pastbutton. But still when the next line says pastbutton._visible=1 still it doesn't restore the target button which is stored in the pastbutton variable.

The following code adds 10 instances of circleMC to the stage. Inside circleMC is a dyn text field that increases in number from 1 - 10 so I have numbered circles on the stage.Each circle needs to open an infoBox which will contain variables unique to that box. If objects are created dynamically in AS3, using code like this:

then later, i want to changet the text of one of the TextFields, how can I do that? The only instance listed in the variables is a single instance of "txtFld" and it is the last one that is created. How can I access the others?

Now I have a dozen clips in my container and it seems like the only way to access the clip is to use the getChildByName() method and cast it into a temporary clip so I can get at the its properties.
Is this the best and/or only way to do this? Does the old AS2 myContainer["theName"].property not work with dynamically created movieclips? It doesn't seem to work for me anymore.

I have a MC with 2 children in library:
myParent1 -> myChild1
-> myChild2
when I put it on stage in editor and run following script, both trace are valid and give response "true":

If you have a series of sprites created in a loop:

Which you added event listeners to, in the same loop:

mySprite.addEventListener(....

How can you remove those listeners, then add them again? I need to kill and re-enable the listeners of many sprites which were created that way.

I am creating a text scroller and am having problems with clearInterval - the text starts scrolling, but it won't stop after I try to clear it upon a button click.
1. I declare a var (uint) equal to a setInterval() call within a function (if the text exceeds the width of the textField)
2. I have a button that "turns off" the mp3 player (swf) and resets all the text fields.
3. I can't seem to access the setInterval ID var from within the click handler.
I have declared the var (uint) at the root level, then set it to setInterval() within the function. Then I tried to access it from the click handler. I thought this would work since it's global at that point, but it doesn't.

I have a script that randomly pops out circles all over the stage. However, I want them to disappear once I roll my mouse over them (and only the ones I roll over, not all the instances).So if I have code like this in a function:[code]And then I have a mouse_over function in the same class, how do I tell it to removeChild? Since the stars are instances of the object, they are giving instance names like instance67, which makes them hard to remove.
