How do you set up a hit test for a dynamic movieclip that hasn't yet been created?I have a movieclip on the stage, and I want it to change colour when a yet to be created dynamic clip touches it.

Later I try to access the visible property, and I get an error

I am confronted with a simply yet annoying problem: I manually created a row of MovieClips inside another movieclip container_mc on the stage in the Flash CS4 Editor. The MovieClips are named in the same convention (eg. target_1_mc, target_2_mc, ...target_200_mc).
When I try to access a property of it via AS3 during runtime of the SWF like this, it works:
container_mc.target_0_mc.alpha = 0; But how do I access the MovieClip dynamically? During runtime, a script will determine of which MovieClip i need to access a property. I will get the ID number of the MovieClip I want to access. So I need to be able to to something like this:
var mc_ID:int = 2; ["container_mc.target_"+mc_ID+_mc""].alpha = 0;
Obviously, that doesn't work. When I would create all the target-MovieClips dynamically at runtime, I would simply put them in an array. But in this case I need to work with the existing MovieClips manually created in the Flash Editor.
am i publishing the movie incorrectly? It works great when I preview the flash file (cntrl+enter), but after I publish it and insert it into the html (in dreamweaver), the file shows up and animates perfectly, but when clicked, no link... It doesn't do anything
View 3 RepliesMy buttons only work when I click on them on the stage while having the "enable simple buttons" option on. They do not work if I try to "test movie," "test scene" and publish it to a SWF. Nothing responds whenever I am in these modes. I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Actionscript 2.0.

I'm trying to use 9-slice to animate a natively created flash movieclip. It's a rounded-corner box, with a little speech-bubble pointy thing jutting out of the bottom left corner. I have 9-slice enabled, and the slices have been repositioned close to the corners. When I distort/grow the MC on the flash stage, it's fine... but as soon as I try to animate the growth, it gets all wonky?
If I use the newer Motion tween style, it's messed up all the way through except for the first frame? And if I use a traditional tween, with the proper small box start frame, and modified/grown end frame... it will look right for the first and last frame of the animation, but its as if the 9-slice isn't working during the tween? I've inserted a series of screen caps to illustrate the traditional tween issue.

is there a way to hit test point NOT detecting a bottom movieclip if the mouse is over the top movieclip?
I have a request concerning font embedding,i'm running flash Cs5 and loving the new embed system but i actually forgot to embed some fonts on a textbox and now, at compile-time the output throws :"Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."I mean that's great, but i'd like to know which textbox actually hasn't got its font embedded so i can fix that (stupid flash )I have a lot of textboxes in this project so it will be long before i have re-embedded everything.

I have assigned a class to the symbol and, in flex i wrote this:

I start the movie and I see 'HELLO' on my button, WOW! but If I go over the symbol and then out the text change again to 'TEXT' (the default i wrote in flash)

How do I control the display properties and positioning of dynamic textfields within a movieclip ? How do I control persistent visibility, and how do I make these textfields appear one after the other in the order they were clicked.
I want to be able to do an if/else statement to test the value of a dynamic text field. The value will always be either yes or no. So, for instance,

What would the syntax be? The dynamic text field is being populated from an external text file.
In part of my actionscript i'm using: thumbnail_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("t"+k, thumbnail_mc.getNextHighestDepth()); to create a seperate movieclips for ewach image in my xml file. How would I then attach another movieclip to each of the newly created ones? ie thumbnail_mc.t0, thumbnail_mc.t1, thumbnail_mc.t2... is there a way to do it automaticall7y or do i have to assign it to each one individually? "thumbnail_mc.t"+k.attachMovie obviously doesn't work

how to test my preloader in CS5. When I look under Control - Test Movie, it doesn't have an option for Simulate Download, and when I just do a regular test, I see nothing.
View 2 RepliesUsing php to declare a few Flashvars. No problems - they all arrive and behave. One of these populates a dynamic text field inside an MC. Simple enough stuff right? But.... when I try to test equality on that text field I get nothing. I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of. The MC is called "fake2". The text field inside it has a variable name of "choice_dyna" and an instance name of "fd2".

I create a mc on the root level from the library by attachMovie (box1).box1 creates a second mc from the library by attachMovie (box2).On the root level I have a button who change the color of both mcs by new Color / setRGB.But box2 will have the same color than box1, regardless which color I set to box2.Button-AS (FLA is attached):

I'm working with Flash CS4. When I test a scene, all work just fine, but when I try to test movie, or export the swf file the process stops suddenly and nothing happens.
In my fla file I have 7 scenes and the file size is about 193mb.
