Actually, I already know the answer. The main reason I'm posting it here is for Google searchers, and if I copy and paste the post into my blog, my ActionScript code gets formatted all pretty, when all I have to do is add "as" tags here.

I'm having some trouble implementing a "virtual" camera for use in game development with Flash CS4 ActionScript 3.0.Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is to have a camera that moves about the main stage so that my character can traverse the level which is much larger in size than the stage itself.I've been using Sham Bhangal's virtual camera script, and when I implemented it by sticking the code into the first frame of a movie clip, it worked great!
From there, I moved the code into a document class that i could instantiate and then drop onto the stage as a child.Finally, I wanted to have a main "builder" document class that would be added to the main stage as a child, and within THIS class I wanted an instance of the virtual camera. This is where I hit some obstacles.how to properly instantiate the virtual camera within the builder class which is then added to the main stage. I have a Stage reference that is being passed to the main builder, but I don't know where to go from here. To what do I add the virtual camera to as a child? To the Stage reference in the main builder class? To the main builder class itself?The main issue is that when I export my movie with the virtual camera added as a child to the Stage reference within the main builder class, it complains that I'm not allowed to access certain values.

This happens when I try to access parent.x from within the virtual camera class. I assume this fails because "parent" from this perspective is the main builder class, but using the Stage reference produces this same error.I am, of course, willing to provide more detail if something I've written is confusing, and I will gladly provide a detailed fix for those seeking to use a similar solution in the future.
So I've been trying to move the stage's X and Y position and keep on getting this error:

As for why I'm trying to move the stage, I have a movieclip which moves according to keyboard input and i want the stage/Background to always center on him.

I'm trying to create a class that loads images dynamically with their corresponding thumbnails using an external XML file. It works fine in a lone fla file but when I try to make it into a class so I can reference multiple XML files, I get "A term is undefined and has no properties". Now, the class seems to work OK: I get a thumbnail displayed and when I click on it, it shows the picture but not the text and I get errors for both the xmlLoaded and showPicture functions as below. (I didn't paste the constructor function but it's there.)
It seems only one line is causing trouble in the xmlLoaded function (see asterisks) while multiple lines in showPicture are problematic. I know how to use the debugger to find the line of code but how do I wade through all the parameters to figure out what the problem is?

i was loading a images from web for a polio page.. and for god shake, the uploading of image using Loader class for .PNG file alwz stuck at 13765 Bytes and Threw error saying the URL not available .. i was sure that the image was there and it loaded upto 13KB ... this was damn freaking.. i took hours tryin to debug it.. the fix was so simple.. the image file was to be renamed .png rather than .PNG and all worked fine... How come and from when Flash started treating .png and .PNG in different way and why the image loaded to 13KB and said invalid url..?
I've created a button under the SimpleButton class named button1 in Flash CS4. I've set button1 so it exports to AS3. I keep getting an Error 1061 at line 3 of which I have no clue what I'm doing wrong:

The argument to my method func() must implement the two unrelated interfaces IFoo and IBar. Is there a better way of doing this than declaring another interface only for this purpose that inherits from IFoo and IBar and using that interface as the argument type?
"page.swf" is nice working SWF file that load list.xml & picture.jpg. I stored those files on folder data. I create another SWF called "index.swf" and i stored it outside folder data. When i try to load "page.swf" locally using Loader Class from "index.swf", the compiler errors said "can't load list.xml & picture.jpg". Because index.swf searched in it's directory not in folder data.
[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. Since the project also required a gallery, I felt that this interface would work just fine.
I am using flex builder 3.2, Action Script 3 and develop for Flash Player 10 and am quite new to it. when I call a method of a self defined class, I get the 1061 error (not defined). But the class and the method exist and are public, so what the hell am I doing wrong? Flash Builder is even offering me this method in the auto-completion, so at least the builder knows it... I have already tried cleaning the project (as this is the common source of strange errors when working with java/eclipse),
edit: solved... The problem was that a package had the same name as the variable I used for the class. Very strange error message, thumbs down for this .
I'm trying to have a class file which can add objects to the stage via addChild; however, when I call addChild from within the class file, I get the error "1180: Call to a possibly undefined method addChild." I've tried importing flash.display.* and that doesn't fix the problem. Does the class file have to extend Sprite or MovieClip to be able to add objects to the stage?
I'm tryng to make a public static method call another method, but Flash throws error 1180, sayng that the method called by the static method is undefined.
I am using AS 3 Flash CS4, WIndows XP SP3. I am unable to use the Mouse.hide(); method in many of my scripts. If I add Mouse.hide() to a preexisting script, I get the following error; line1 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method hide through a reference with static type Class. If I add Mouse.hide():void; to a preexisting script, I get the following error: line1 Label must be a simple identifier Once this has happened, if I then remove ALL lines of script from the file...but leave the Mouse.hide(); [or Mouse.hide():void;], and also remove all objects from the stage, when I run the file, I still get those same errors.
Can I implement more than one interface to the same class?One option is to make interface A extend interface B and than have my class inplementing interface A. Is there any other way that I can implement two or more interfaces directly to the same class?
Quick question. Does a class have to implement a interface directly to be accepted, or can it be a child of a parent class that implements it. so If I pass a child object into a method that only accepts IOBJECT, but the child class parent implements IOBJECT. will child object be accepted ?
How do I implement a listener within a class? I am instantiating other objects within side of another class. A sorta parent and child thing. How do I go about making the parent class subscribe to the child class. I want to leave all of the coding at a class level and keep it off of the main timeline.
