I am looking for examples on typing the criteria for if /then statements, for loops, etc. Things such as the way to type "or" (|) and the way to say "not equal to", etc.

I don't know if this is the right place but I have a simple question about Flash Builder.
In the following example, how can I change the color of the "MovieClip"? I want my variable types highlighted.

MySWF loads without problem. It doesn't really returns the class mySWF so I wonder if this is really the right syntax. And actually I don't receive anything. I am of course dispatching custom event from mySWF. Flash seems really a nightmare to cope with custom events in practice compared to other platforms.
I've got an array that looks like this, iterating through:

I'm trying to populate a fl.controls.ComboBox dataProvider with this array. What I want to do is set the labelfield, as shown in the documentation:

In other words I want the name to be displayed, and the 'data' to be the code, which will be called when I click on the item. But the labelField is not the same as "French". How do I create the two fields in the array such that I can designate the first as labelField and the second as data?
I wrote a singleton class to keep track of some variables across my application. I am getting a syntax error that I can't figure out, I am sure that I am missing something simple but it's been one of those days. Anyone see something wrong with my code?

I have an object named "Defer" that I need to access. That object only exists in frame 2 of a movie clip named: B2_mc. The other 4 frames of the movie clip B2_mc do not contain the "Defer" object. When I try to access "Defer" with the following code:

The .swf doesn't run and the error message says I'm attempting to access an undefined property. I've never tried to access an object that wasn't on the stage, so I know my syntax is wrong for trying to access "Defer" since it's not on the stage. What's the correct syntax for drilling down to an object that may be buried deep somewhere?

i've installed the Perforce Eclipse plugin successfully in Flash Builder 4.5.however, the only problem i've run into is that whenever i open a ActionScript file (either one that is or isn't checked out) there is no syntax coloring - it's simply a white background with black text.
i've changed themes so that i have a dark background with different colored syntax but Perforce also removes that coloring, although this time it's the dark background with all white text.

I am creating a website in flash CS4 and I made a contact form and when I test the site out, I can type and click the submit button, so everything is fine there but it doesn't go to anything. Now I know I need a code to tell the contact form where to go, but I can't find one that works, or I may be doing something wrong. I also have been reading about PHP but I am not sure what that is. I found a site that said to put this code in the actions panel.

I am trying to get the flash buttons for my website to work, but every time I do the getURL thing it keeps saying 'Cannot find(directory)'. The website is offline and I'm using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, I also might be able to use Flash 8 but these are the only two versions I have access to.The action script for the button is:

I'm just getting off the ground as an AS3 programmer and I'm having a lot of trouble getting Flash to recognize my packages. My intention is to keep a code library of all my AS3 source data and have Flash simply go fetch classes from there.
I have set Flash's source path to the following to accommodate my library:
C:Documents and Settings<username>My DocumentsMy DropboxCodeAS3src
However, when I attempt to include a class into a .fla, Flash gives me an error that it can't find the AS class files in the .fla's folder at compile time. So it seems to not be detecting the AS class files in the source path I have set.
Within src, the folders are structured as follows:
srcsivyrmap<AS classes here>
In my AS files themselves, I have written the package and class declarations as follows:

Just trying to get into Flash and although i can now make simple flash viedo's with changing pictures etc. I have just bought a new website template. But what i am after for the header is a flash video where there are tabs which when you scroll over them the tab enlarges.
