I have an array of BitmapData and I want to make a FLV video out of it. The problem is that "raw" video takes a lot of space. How do I make compression of such data in actionscript 3?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to compress a video into an flv for my flash file. When I compress the video using flash video encoder the video shows up white but I can see the audio. The original version is compressed using H.264. I don't know enough about codecs to know why its not showing video.

View 2 Replieswhen i view my flash file in firefox 3.5.5, it compresses my flash movie smaller and quality looks pretty bad. In Safari, it is fine. I tried publishing as "exact pixels" instead of match movie and set scale at exact fit.
update: now firefox is cropping my flash movie....but safari looks fine
I have an application requiring exporting of Flash animations to run on an embedded media player. This accepts a number of video formats. The most reliable I have found so far is DivX. The player supports DivX versions 3.11, 4.x & 5.x. The export codec in CS3 is DivX 6.8.5 which is not compatible with the player.The player also supports MPEG2 but the quality is not very good. Other options are Xvid Mpeg4 video (doesn't work) and MS Mpeg4 video codec V2 & V3 (also not supported in CS3).I have tried downloading a variety of alternative second source file converters but frankly tied myself in knots. Any idea how I can get around this problem and get a DivX 5.x codec to work natively within CS3?

Was Successful with Zlib but need another implementation for the same using a different Compression Algorithm.ut i get an error where it says that the input is not in gzip format.i am also trying to use LZW Compression with no success in compressing in LZW in C#.so have not tried LZW Decompression in ActionScript Either.So .... i.m stuck at : I need to compress a string in C# and Decompress it in ActionScript using a compression Method other than ZLib.
View 5 RepliesIn my quest to learn ActionScript 3.0 I have stumbled across another situation where I know what I need to do, but just can't figure out how to do. I have written code to animate a menu with 3 buttons. These 3 buttons reside in a seperate class file known as MenuButtons.as and I am animating them within my Main.as file which builds the application and places the relevant details onto the stage.So in my Main.as file I have written the animation code that I would like to use to animate the buttons. Whenever a button is clicked, an event is dispatched which a handler listeners for then executes the relevant function. So the function for animating my 3 buttons looks like this (bear in mind that the buttons are arranged in a place holder in MenuButtons.as which in turn is loaded in a new MovieClip in the Main.as file)[code]I also tween the logo from here too. It works fine which is great, but is there a way I can make this code more simpler? I may not be able to and I have tried to find my answer online but alas I cannot find what I am looking for.
I am loving how I am learning something new each day and by building up slowly I am learning more functionality and broadening my knowledge of ActionScript (although some of it is very confusing!)Is there any good websites out there that can help? I have a subscription with Lynda.com but i find that their explanations can sometimes be hard to understand. I love text based tutorials where I can follow at my own pace.

View 0 RepliesI've created a servlet that changes the binaries of a SWF file and output it to the user. The SWF is compressed by ZLIB by default. Then I inflate, change the binaries, deflate and output the result.
Everything was running right on a Windows Server 2008 (also in 2003). Currently, we need change the server to Linux, and then, this servlet is somehow outputing a corrupted SWF File... what could be the problem? What intrigues me more is that there is no difference between the Windows and Linux servlet versions.
Is there any undocumented linux specific behaviour for the java.util.zip package?

Recently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..

So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. View 4 RepliesI am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.

Looking into HTML5 video tag, and researching which browsers support which video file types, and my initial thought is things just got harder than just using flash. I am wondering if there is some skeleton code (combined with development approach for videos) that someone has figured out to do the following: If flash is available, use it If not, try html5 video ogg format If that doesn't work, try html5 video h.264 format If that doesn't work, try html5 video webM format Based on what I am seeing, am I correct in thinking that now, in order to accommodate all users on all browsers, a video needs to be published in 4 formats? If so, this HTML5 video thing is an epic fail!

I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

View 14 RepliesI'm currently working on a website design. The idea is a big chromakeyed interactive video in Flash. The size of the video is 1080 (width) x 1500 (height) pixels.I've exported the video in After Effects with the standard settings for flash (File>Export>Adobe Flash Player(SWF)). Now when I import the video in Flash and preview the file, the video plays in a slower speed and it's not playing smooth at all...Is the video too big? Is there a maximum video-size to keep the video running correct in Flash? Is it something else that causes this problem..?

View 2 RepliesI am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system.
View 2 RepliesWith the Flash Player that comes with CS3 and on my PC XP Pro laptop.I want the player controls to appear at the _bottom_ of the video not on top of the video and not under (behind) the video.
- my video is 640 x 480
- so I modified the "properties" tab at the bottom of the screen to 640x480... (it was 550x400)
- but that just makes everything larger when I click File > Publish
- and then look at the video in Internet Explorer... the Player Controls are still _On Top_ of the video.
I guess I need to learn how to
- Make the stage bigger
- Position the Player controls below the actual video
I am streaming flash video and the dimension of the video is 1280 by 720 (same size as the stage)
but just before the video streams, there is a quick flash of the video (about 320px by 240px) at the top corner of the stage, and then it plays the videos at the correct size (which is 1280 by 720) .... a quick flash is the best way I can explain it.

is there anyway I can stop that quick flash of the video .... so when I click on the button, it just plays the video, at the correct size?
I have created my first flash video and wish to allow the visitors to play the movie themselves instead of having the movie play automatically also have a stop or pause button too.
