View 1 RepliesI have a requirement to come up with a time line chart and a few more controls on a single page[with rich ui]. I have short listed Flex, JSF[apache trinidad], html5, gwt these technologies. None of them provide timeline charts on their own. I am looking at other options such as using third party libraries. The chart should have drill down capabilities as well. Let me know if there is any specific technology that I should try.

View 1 RepliesI'd like to create cool lines and bars charts dynamically, from xml data. Since I'm not an expert in Flash, I wanted to get a tool to accomplish this. So far, I've tried Flex Builder 3, but I can't figure how to draw the chart dynamically, as the xml data is constantly changing. I just see examples on the internet with xml like "Orange, Banana, Apple", when what I'd like to see is something like "......" and get each item's value and attributes to show in the chart.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to use AlivePDF to save a chart into a .pdf file. However, when I try to save my chart, it ends up clipping half of the chart in the pdf so it isn't even fully visible. It seems that the screencapture that AlivePDF took to generate my pdf was too small.I am trying to get a chart from a sample to work with sample code for using alivepdf that I picked off the web.[code]

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?
I am trying to place an image besides the label in y-axis. So I have created a custom label renderer(A HBox containing and ). The source for the image has to be set based on a property present in the data provider. The problem is, I am not able to access the BarSeriesItem in the fnSetSource() method.

I want to save the "rich" text to a database, and load it later.So how can I get and set the rich text?I looked at the API and there is a property called text which is only PLAIN text, not what I need. There is another property called textSnapshot which sounds like maybe thats what I need to use, but its READ-ONLY so I can't set it?It turns out I am only going to save it from a RichTextEditor, and I need to set it has htmlText on a Text control,so is there a way to get the rich text and convert it to hmtlText?

I have array values like this,,

and i want to show these values on the Yaxis and months on Xaxis....
I have two Qns,
1) how can I pass this array to Bar chart or column chart.
2) how do I need to show months on Xaxis. beacuse I'm asking this regarding, I have kept a filters that even if we want to see some months or a particular months or perticalar span of months... there on Xaxis it need to change the months dynamically depending on the filters..... (for ex, on Xaxis the values should be (Jan, Apr, Jun,Oct) if i select the 3 months period filter....)
I have written a logic to collect the values of those particular months into an array, but not understading how to pass this array to Bar chart,, beacuse there I don't know what Xfield and Yfield to be given....
Is there is there a way(may be very complicated) to display images in the text area from htmlText property in AIR2?P.S. I know that AIR ignores img tags in HTML content due prevent possible phishing attacks.
View 1 RepliesI am developing a flex charting web application which gets data from csv files. This application is supposed to be installed on the website of a client. The client uses a web server management system where the URLs generated are pretty long and contain non-alphanumeric characters. An example is given below:[URL].. The problem is that on my test server, the application is running just fine. But when deployed on the client's site, the application and the charts load, but the CSV data fails to load. The error given is:
Input output error: IO_ERROR I have tried both relative referencing (relative with respect to the swf file) and absolute reference to the URL of the csv file. But both approaches have failed.
I would ideally like to stay away from absolute URLs since that would break down if the charts need to move to another location.

Is it possible to capture rich text when pasting into Flash? Using a Flex TextEditArea, I can paste richly formatted text within Flash itself, but if I try to paste from an external source (say web page, microsoft word, etc) it comes in as plain text. Same for the reverse: if I copy rich text from within Flash, and paste to an external source, it goes out as plain text.

View 2 RepliesIn a LineChart in Flex you can set a LineSeries to interpolateValues="true" what this does is connect missing values so you do not have gaps in your line. But what I would like is for it to insert 0's for the missing fields instead of drawing a direct line to fill the gap.
Is there a way to set it to do that?
