ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Another SWF File When Particular Button Pressed

I am using loadMovieNum function to load another SWF file when a particular button is pressed. I have also provided Home button for user to unload movie loaded using button press event. However, when the movie is unloaded the background letter and even the button texts become blur.

I'm doing my final year uni project (1 week left) and having trouble with some actionscripting and xml.Basically I have all the usual AS coding sorted out for my XML data and it's working fine but what I want to do is replace the xml file with another xml file depending on what button (I have 25 different files/buttons to do) is pressed.
So button 1 will put in: xmlFile.load("button1.xml")Button 2 will replace the above scripting with: xmlFile.load("button2.xml")
Is this possible? I don't want to create 25 instances/frames of the full xml text as the xml datat is displayed on an animation and it would significantly increase the file size.

I have a movieclip named menu (instance name = mainmenu). Inside of that there is a button named btn_about (instance name = about). On the main stage there is an empty movieclip named empty_mc (instance name = mcholder, linkage id = empty). I want a user to press the button which causes a movieclip in the library named tesst (Linkage name = testid) to load into the empty movieclip (mc_holder).
Here is the code on the button:
on (release) {
this._parent.mcholder.attachMovie("testid", "tesst1", this.getNextHighestDepth());
}
It does not work.

I've recently looked at the loading pictures dynamically video tutorial and wanted to further expand from it. So I got the picture to load once the button is pressed and my question is...Is there a way to click on the loaded picture to make it close? I basically have the loaded picture cover up my thumbnails so it's pretty hard to navigate to the other thumbnails once the picture gets loaded.

I have a function on root:

This causes a mc to fade in and out on rollover/rollout. But what I wanna make is a box that fades in when pressed on the button and fade out when pressed for the second time. But if I say
on (press){
_root.fade = true;
}
the mc fades in, but I cant do another on (press) to fade out. Is this too confusing?

Im trying to get a button when pressed to display text from an external .txt file (which I've done so far), but (1) I want it to only display certain paragraphs (the actual dialogue) of this text and (2) every time I click the button it should replace the old text with the new (like in any RPG). Now I asked a former lecturer for help and he gave me a link to a website and gave me a hint of what to do, but seeing as I was recently voted #48 on Forbes worst 100 programmers of all time (actually I haven used AS for 5 years) so I thought someone could explain it to me in a much clearer fashion? PS: My lecturer said: When you click the button to add text to the textfield but you ewant the previous text to be cleared the first thing you do is empty the box ( myText.text = "") then fill the box again with your new text..

I'm trying to create a set of 4 vertically arranged buttons that 'split' apart when those buttons are pressed. For example, if you click the topmost (1st) button, the bottom three buttons will drop down so submenus (for the 1st button) can now be revealed beneath. Again, when you click the 2nd button from the top, the bottom two buttons drop down, revealing submenus, and so on.
Now, is there a way that I can use actionscripting to tween the buttons to not only motion tween a drop down when a button is first pressed, but also to motion tween the button to return up to its original spot when another button is then pressed? Right now, I have two keyframes, side-by-side which each containing a different y-scale value for an object. Can I do some actionscripting to get the object to motion tween upward to its original spot instead of "clicking," or snapping back to is original spot when another button is pressed?

im making a portfolio where i have several buttons on 1 frame...once on the frame it auto loads the first xml file...i want to swap that xml file when i click on button 2,3,4 and so on. this way ill use the same frame but just different content from the xml...the code that i have is

I have created a SWF file with a button which is action scripted to load a FLV video. However I am still not sure that I am filepathing the inserted FLV file correctly. I have set the absolute file path including http://www.etc..com however the movie does not load. Is the _root correct? Should this be cleared?

I'm creating a flash portfolio, I have small image icons, each icon when clicked on loads a diff. swf file, image gallery that loads bigger external images. I would like a different external text file to load every time a diff. image gallery loads, for some reason I cant find the answer to my problem,
I would like to add some actionscrpt to each icon/button so it will load a new txt file when clicked on.
(each image icon is a button and has the instance name of icon 1, 2 etc.)

I have 2buttons. Each have 3stages: up, over, down.I want to have 1st button to stay on its 'down state' when pressed and then you should see 2nd button 'up' stage(down stage of 1st button is the same as up stage in 2nd button).If someone hovered again you see 'over' stage of 2nd button,when will click, button move to 'up' stage of 1st button.

I have done an animation which includes a button that I want to use to start it. I've added action script to stop the animation on the last frame, I just have no idea what action script to put in to start it when the button is pressed. i have a movieclip with some buttons with blur, when you rollover on them they become normal, when you rollout they return blur.
what i would like to do is that when you press on of them it becams normal and remain in that state untill you press on onother button.
Is there a way to do this? maybe something that prevent onRollOut when you pressed the button?

i have designed button which will change position after press on it i have used the script :button1.onPress=function(){button1._y=-300;action1._y=110;}that is working but the problem is whenever i give a link to it like go to another frame or go for some url. it work but after comming back to its previous stage it shows no difference that means i need a button which will indicate that it have been pressed.

Basically what i have is three buttons which can be pressed in a maximum of 7 different combinations. Each of these buttons has a movieclip underneath that advances to the next frame when the button is pressed. Each clip has two frames with actions, frame 1 has:
stop();
var option1:Boolean = false;
and then frame 2 has:
stop();
var option1:Boolean = true;
So when you press a button you have true, and false when the button is pushed again.
i already have a constant loop between frames 2 and 4. At frame 4 i think i need to have some code that detects which state the 3 boolean statements are in and then load a movie depending on which statements are true and which are false.

im currently making a game, and the game has some powerups, that when picked are stored. the problem is that, if i have, say, 3 shields, e press the matching button and the 3 shields are used instead of one. i found out its because i was checking the button pressing every frame, so i created a flag that checks if a button is corrently being pressed. here's the code
