Jun 17, 2004I *know* this is simple. I've read every thread on this board pertaining to this (including senocular's Best Of thread), done everything there and this still doesn't work and I can't see why.
I feel like an idiot even asking, because I've seen the examples and lengthy tutorials.
All I want to do, is change the color of a dynamic text field when you press a button. But I want the name of the field to be a variable.
Now, this is what's there:
1. the variable "_root.expinttype1" is equal to "branch" and is set elsewhere.
1a. There is an existing dynamic field called "branch" on screen.
2. On the button release I set the format:

Why? I set a dummy variable txt = _root.expinttype1; and even threw it into a text field to verify the data, and it shows "branch", so why doesn't this work?

May 26, 2010I'm running flash cs4. I have an xml file I've loaded in but cs4 actually takes out the root nodes. So now I've been trying to add them back in when a button is pressed but I can't do it. Unable To Trigger Dynamic Button Event In Full_Screen Mode?
Mar 6, 2009I have a movie clip button with a dynamic text field inside. I am loading the mc dynamically to the stage. In Full_Screen mode static buttons including the full screen button work without a problem, but the dynamic button event does not trigger when clicked. In this simplified code belwo the dynamic button when clicked should change its message to "You have clicked button 1". This works in normal mode, but not in Full screen.I tried btn_cuePt_1.enabled= true; but without success.
Does it have something to do with not using the fullscreen events?

Structure of my button is: Think of it as three layers inside a movie_clip. I used an empty button on the top layer so I would get a pointer cursor, I used a dynamic textfield the one that should change after the event to "You have clicked button 1", and last but not least the button graphic.

I also have a fullscreen button (Flash component) on the stage. After clicking the fullscreen button and in Full_Screen mode the static buttons including the full screen button work without a problem, but the dynamic button seems not to work at all. Basically the dynamic button when clicked should change its message to "You have clicked button 1". This works in normal mode, but not in Full screen.

Feb 10, 2011I have what seems to be a simple task, yet I cannot seem to figure it out. I am busy creating a project in ActionScript 3, and while I am fairly fluent in ActionScript 2, I am being stumped a bit here.
I have a simple dynamic text field inside a button object. This text field has the name of txt_title. I have attached event handlers to change the alpha of the buttons when they are hovered over, however I also want to change the value of the text field within the button, when hovered over. My event listener looks like follows:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading MC With Dynamic URL Change On Button?
Apr 1, 2010I have a main swf(let's call it 'main.swf'), and within this swf I have a container movieclip (instance name of 'projectloader_mc'), next to this 'projectloader_mc' I have two buttons 'next project' and the second 'previous project' lets give them instance names 'next_btn' and 'prev_btn'. The timeline of main.swf has some AS3 to tell projectloader_mc to load an external .swf, the first .swf being 'project1.swf'. This way on launch of main.swf the container automatically loads the project1.swf and gives users immediate access to this. Project1.swf contains some text and an image that links to a webpage URL using URLrequest etc.
There are going to be many other Project.swf files to load. lets call these Project2.swf, Project3.swf etc that have the same thing text and an image link inside.
Here is what I want to achieve, I want the user to be able to click on next_btn and load project2.swf in to the container, BUT I want to be able to say next time they click on next_btn it will load Project3.swf and so on. My problem is I am unsure how to dynamically change the URLrequest reference once the user clicks, so clicking to load project1.swf would load and say to next_btn also change to load project2.swf on the next clip. Previous has to do the same but backwards. It is almost like the next button and prev button need to know what mc is loaded in order to adjust the functions for loading the next or previous clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Two Movies On Same Press Event
Dec 20, 2005I have a button, that when pressed loads a movie - works fine. What I wish to know is if it's possible (and how) to nest or add a function so that another movie loads at the same time. I'm using MX.
The idea is that when the 'good movie' is loaded, another small movie will load beside the button to indicate the active section.
Sample of what I'm currently using to load the 'good movie" is below.

There are actually seven such buttons in the main movie. So, for each one I want to replicate the adding of my external active.swf file into another empty movie clip.
Now, the above code works and pulls up the animation. When I tried to added another function to the button, only the second function worked (i.e., I got the symbol for indicating active state, but not the image gallery I've made).

When the movie plays, the cursor shows that there is text where it is supposed to be, but I do not see any text. I don't see an option to attach a file, otherwise I would.

Aug 1, 2011I am running 3 swf files for loop. Problem is after compiling the flash file swf file is getting slower and slower after two or three loops and stopping with one content finally. I don't know why it is happening my guess is "due to memory increasing causing flash file to slower".

Aug 8, 2005Its a simple matter of loading text from a text file named "data" into a dynamic field. The code in the frame itself is

The thing is that the SWF file I load the text into (called "RASHI.swf"). I loaded into another SWF file called "index.swf". My site is based on this tutorial [URL]. When I run "RASHI.swf" on my PC everything is fine and the text is loaded but when I run "index.swf" (again, on my PC, not the web) it says "Undefined".

Which works great with the aspx file I've created. But I need the "id=1" to append a dynamic number instead of the "1".
