ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic MovieClip Duplication On Button Press

I am working on dynamic duplication of movieclip when the button is pressed one by one. In that movieclip there are two buttons ok and cancel.
Here is the piece of code:

I have an MC of a sea texture which was created using clouds in Photoshop, and uses AS to fade in & out a child MC to look like waves moving back & forth. (The PS image fades to transparent where its close to each side to aid blending).
The user is able to pan the containing MC infinitely so I need some way of automatically overlapping a new instance when the pan gets close to the edges of the MC, but because its a large MC needs to also remove the MCs greater than distance x from the edges.
If I want to load dynamic text without having to press a button. I want it to load in the first frame of my movie automatically when it loads. What should I do? What I have so far on a button is :

I *know* this is simple. I've read every thread on this board pertaining to this (including senocular's Best Of thread), done everything there and this still doesn't work and I can't see why.
I feel like an idiot even asking, because I've seen the examples and lengthy tutorials.
All I want to do, is change the color of a dynamic text field when you press a button. But I want the name of the field to be a variable.
Now, this is what's there:
1. the variable "_root.expinttype1" is equal to "branch" and is set elsewhere. 1a. There is an existing dynamic field called "branch" on screen.
2. On the button release I set the format:
[Code]....
Why? I set a dummy variable txt = _root.expinttype1; and even threw it into a text field to verify the data, and it shows "branch", so why doesn't this work?
excuse the lazy question but I'm tired of google I have been trying to learn about repositioning movieclips on the click of a button. So basically, the movie clip will move to a location on the screen in accordance to the browser size and relevant to the button pressed.
I have seen a few tutorials that move an object say, 100 pixels. But what I want is for it to move into the top left, or top right, or bottom middle of the screen regardless of the browser size.
I am trying to get a movie clip to pop up when I press a button, when the clip pops up it displays certain information taken from an xml document. I want to be able to display the info held in the first part of the xml to display when I press the 1st button, the info in the 2nd part of the xml to display when i press the 2nd button and so on. However it always seems to loop to the last item in the xml list. I have also posted my actionscript code below:

Suppose there is a button on stage - on press - I want to [display / start to run] a movie clip present in library (should i place it on stage?) I tried: on (press) { loadMovie("one_mc", "1"); } not working.
I have a menu bar as a movie clip and another movie clip acting as a slider. I want to on pressing a button on the Menu bar movie clip get the slider to slide across with easing. however I don't want the easing to be infinite so can't use a this._x*=.9 or some decimal < 1. Loop function only acts on the single frame so it too quick to see.
i have an image inside a movieclip, with the alpha set to 30%. Now I'd want to be able to change the tint (like Hue from Photoshop) of that movieclip on button press. I figured it might be possible by creating a new movieclip, putting a transparant square in it and changing the _alpha and color on buttonpress, but isn't it possible to do directly change the tint of the movie with the image inside with actionscript ?
I tried senocular's method [URL], but my movie turned all pink instead of red transparent.
I'm designing a data entry app that allows multiple entries to its subject. For example, a person might have received education from multiple institutions. Each educational entry is a form and app user can click on a button to add another entry, which is a blank but identical form.I figure it involves states and custom form components but not sure how everything fits together.
I want the press button to detect the last button pressed and if the shapes match, make them do something...obviously. I think I'm going at it the wrong way. I need to stick a "triange" id into the button/mc then if compares that and then if there is a match works then... right?
i'm designing a website in flash8... now i have created some buttons, and i want that when i click on the button stars will fly from them and there will be a sound... i have already created the animation of the stars seperatly and it's in the library, i have also the sound file.... i just can't remember how to put everything together.... when i'll press on the button the stars will be flying from the button and the sound will play?
i have a set of buttons cranked out from and XML file. how can i emulate, in code, a press on one of those buttons? i'd like to 'press' one of them for an initial state so that the list it controls will load first off instead of waiting for the person to click it manually and THEN show the list it's connected to. thing is, the first loaded list is going to be random, so i need to 'press' what on another day/load would be a button that the user would press themselves.
in other words, i have 3 buttons. on random, i have to 'press', say button 2, to start. users can press 1 or 3 and then 2 again if they like. another time, it's button 1 that gets 'pressed' on load, etc. make sense? i have a sneaking suspicion it might be easy... or stupidly convoluted.

I've got an issue - When one of my buttons is rolled over, I want text and a movieclip to appear. When the button is no longer rolled over, I want the text and movieclip to disappear. The way that I was going to do this was to have anchor_mc as an anchor, and upon rollover have the movieclip play from inside the anchor (as its at the exact X & Y that its needed at) and dynamic text appear.
I've been struggling for hours to get a MovieClip button to work. Perhaps I'm trying to get too fancy, having animations planned between the proper button states, but right now I'm just having troubles trying to get the label for my button set dynamically using a dynamic text field. The error message I'm getting is: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property btnLabel through a reference with static type <class-path>:MenuButton. I created a MovieClip symbol pointing to my class MenuButton. The symbol has 5 layers:
1) Actions which just includes stops on each proper state (ie: normal, over, down).
2) The 5 button states (ie: normal, normalToOver, over, overToNormal, down).
3) The label that is the button's name, which is only a DynamicText field with the name btnLabel.
4) Images of the button in each of the proper states, with extra frames to allow for tweening
5) A layer I was hoping to use as a hit-box. My MenuButton class is defined as follows:
I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well: There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! But its not working. Below is the code:

How to assign the text dynamically which is inside a button and this button inside a MC which is created dynamically inside a main MC! I've attached the FLA also.
I have 6 button call m1-m6...ok my problem is how to disabled button when one of the button being press...and also stt.text will display crrently selected button...coz currently when I press the button it never stated and also 'stt.text ' also show nothing.
I'm working on a flash AS2 game that duplicates two movie clips: A bullet and a shell. Individually, the run fine. The bullets shoot, the shells bounce around. But when I try to use them together, only one of them duplicates. If I use more than one duplication statement in my game, only one functions and the others are ignored.

1) Is there an alternative way of doing the below, to avoid so many listeners?
2) Can the below functions be merged into one?I've tried merging them into one using IF statements, for example:

However this does not work, and gives an error.
3) I had to get the background to display by moving to the next frame. I could not work out how to get the textbox to appear at a specific XY, or how to get the textbox to disappear after a rollover. Is there a better way to do this, or is what I'm doing acceptable? (NOTE: Textbox is a Movieclip)
how to delay the duplication of a video. At the moment, I have a video loaded from a stream (NetStream), and then I duplicate that video using Bitmap/BitmapData draw() to make a grid of 3x3 of the same video.
Up to that point everythings works fine, but all of the nine videos are synced and I do not want that, I want the first one to start at frame 1, second at frame 2, third frame 3 or the opposite.
In other words, I want to have every video on a different frame. The problem I see is that since I just copy the BitmapData of every frame to duplicate it in real-time (ENTER_FRAME) I really can't see how I could do it.
I could make different streams for each videos, but when I tried it, it took a lot more time to load.
Should I maybe not use streams, but I don't know how to do that, like if the video would be in the library and placed 9 times on the scene, but I don't know how to do that with AS3. I have 3 different videos loaded from an XML file.
Im making my first flash game so forgive me if there is anything with my actionscript or my explaining that is messed up.
This game is a 4 player (<--will be) tank game that fires bullets and stuff. so far its working just how i want it to apart from one thing... the duplication for the bullet. This snippet of the script is the bit that should make the bullet firing. if you look at these to bits of script "_root.depth += 1;", "duplicateMovieClip(_root.bullet, "bullet"+depth, depth);" to my understanding the "depth" should increase BUT it doesn't? does anyone know what is going on?
