ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Multiple Swf's Into One Mc?
May 2, 2009
I have a main movie and a movieclip that will load different swfs into it. I am wondering how to handle something like this. I want it to load when I click a button then if i click another button unload the one thats there and replace it with the new one.
I have a group of 16 images that I would like to load 1 of each into each movieclip. I want image1 to be inside of visual1, image 2 inside of visual2, and so on. the images are named like, 1960s_(1).png where the 1960 (year) part is coming from the rangeNum variable. The above gives me this error: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addChild through a reference with static type int.
i have been building a library that has thumbnails which you click to view the full image. i have built the application it works but i want to change the way the image on the actual thumbnail loads using code instead of manually adding the value to the url loader component.
var myX;var instanceN:String;trace(instanceN);var currentLoad:uint = 0;// current loader and image loadingvar thumbnailURL:String;//Thumbnail URLvar thumbReq:URLRequest;// Thumbnail url requestfor(var k:uint = 0;k < iL_btn.length; k++)[code].....
the loop runs fine without the last line of code which i've commented out.the make up of these thumbnails are a uiLoader component which are each inside there own movieClip.what i wanted this to do was every time the loop runs it currentLoad adds 1 to its value then that value is subbed into instanceN:String and thumbnailURL address that bit works the trace statements read correctly.but my issue is using the instanceN value as the instance name path which then loads the current thumbnailURL value which is the URL address for the thumbnail picture.when i try to load the url address using the commented out code above i got the error .TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.the trace statements correct values below
the first value is the currentLoad value.
the second value is the instance name path.
the third is is the URL address for the thumbnail.[code].....
I have 50 images that need to be on stage, which will be embedded into 50 different movie clips. I named the movie clips image1-image50 and the images are in an external folder named 1-50. Every freaking article or tutorial I have found clearly explains how to upload one image, or just one at a time. I can do that, and spend 2 days renaming all the functions, but I do not want to do that. Is there a better way to just load all 50 images, place them accordingly?
I am loading multiple .swfs into multiple .swfs, but the .swf are never being properly unloaded. I thought they were unloading until I started monitoring my Page File Usage and seeing it increase everytime I loaded another external swf.
In using this function to load my content, what would be the proper way/function to unload the content?
I have tried a lot of different google searches to find an answer to my problem, but have come away more confused than anything! Also i'm working in AS2 (using Flash CS3).I have main.swf loaded first, and all I want is a series of swf's to load invisibly in the background so they are ready to appear instantly when accessed.

I want to create a website having one main stage file(main.fla) with different swfs(movie1.swf, movie2.swf,movie3.swf) for various sections. Am not sure what I am doing wrong here but somehow when I click the button it does not load the respective flash file
What is the best approach in AS3 when loading multiple XML files. I have 3 XML files I need to load. Should make separate XML loaders and functions for each XML file?
I'm building an online world have have created multiple rooms on the server.Right now I have 5 worlds created and am trying to get one to load and everything seems to be working perfectly but I'm getting a null error in my worlds when I run them from the server.swf, but the run perfectly fine when I run them by themselves.
I am having a weird problem with XML in AS3. I'm trying to load 4 different XML feeds (same schema, different content). What is happening is that it is always loading only the last XML.
Here's the code:
Code: private var xmlData:Vector.<XML>; private function init(e:Event = null):void {
I am new to AS3 and am learning as I go along. The project i am working on involves loading a few jpegs whose paths are located in an XML doc. the XML structure is as follows:
[Code]...
and i would like to load images at runtime, e.g. cat_path1/project_path1/image1.jpg And all images for a given project. I have gotten as far as loading the XML but need help stepping through loading all the images for a project using the paths defined in the XML.
i'm making a simple portfolio site, and bringing in a series of jpeg files using a 'for' loop and the Loader class. once all the files are loaded in, i'd like to just be able to add, remove, tween, etc... the items from the stage as need-be by using instance names, such as movie clips or Sprites. but for some reason, i cannot seem to figure out how to have each image, as its loaded in, be separately accessable to me after the loop has completed.
I'm loading images using XML. Right now, the situation is that the image is only loaded onto the last entry in the XML. cv is a popup that contains a holder called cHolder and a text field called ct. The images will be loaded onto cHolder. How do is solve this so that image will loaded onto all cHolder?
for each (var projectName:XML in projectAttributes){ //trace(projectName); var projectDP:XMLList = projectInput.project.(@name == projectName).displayP; trace(projectDP); var cv:MovieClip = new cView(); [Code] .....
i'm trying to dynamically create a photogallery that loads all the images before showing the first.
Code:
// varibles for the global preload var generalLeftBytes:Number=0; var generalTotalBytes:Number=0; var sStatus:Number=0;
[Code].....
basically, i thought of using the normal procedure of dynamically creating a mc and adding a listener to it.
in order to make a global preload (one for all the photos) i though of using variables outside of the listener, and to refresh both them and the preload variable (sStatus) everytime the listener can get the size of the image.
now, this script doesn't work. and the odd thing is that it creates all the mcs (the length of the array is 10) but it loads just the first one (the addresses are all right)
how to load external swf files(9) into my master.swf file one after the other. This is the Actionscript i have written so far.....(AS2)
var myItems:Array = new Array("swf01.swf", "swf02.swf", "swf03.swf", "swf04.swf", "swf05.swf", "swf06.swf", "swf07.swf", "swf08.swf", "swf09.swf");
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myListener:Object = new Object();[code].......
The first swf loads alright into my master swf but i can't for the life of me work out how to load the rest after each one has finished loading. Don't know if i need a for loop or what?
In my website,click the menu button the corresponding text and image view in the stage.But upload the site in server side image appears after few minutes of the text appears.the problem is how to appear the image
I'm working with four movie clips- I have each movie clip load an external image and then fade in. These images have to remain on the screen once they are faded in - not replace each other.So I have dragged 4 movie clips into their position on the stage, and gave them a name: m1, m2, m3, m4. Each movie clip is on their own layer in the timeline because they will display on the screen at different times. On each layer I have placed this corresponding code:
My main mc contains 2 empty mc's in which i'm loading 2 seperate swf's into using this fine queue tut. The preloader currently displays a loading bar and description for each swf as it loads... BUT, is there an easy way to modify the preloader bar/code so you only see a single bar/percentage for both loads?
I have a main swf file which has a container mc in which four separate swf files load into when called from four buttons (home, services, testimonials and contact). When the main swf file loads it calls the home.swf file as the default file to load in to the container.
The main swf has a preloader on the first two frames and so does the home.swf. When you view the main swf file the preloader plays fine, then the short intro animation which sets up the interface and then the home.swf's preloader kicks in and then the home.swf loads and animates in.
Right, for the problem...
I would like to incorporate the preloading of the home.swf file into the main.swf preloader (which has a simple percentage loaded text field) so when the short intro animation plays the home.swf file will load instantly without the need for another wait. Can this be done?
I am not a programmer and so all the answers I have found have either not been quite what I am looking for or way over my head - Is there an easy way of achieving this?
Has anybody got the code (without use of classes) which loads multiple images (thumbs) through xml, in one by one fashion (loads one and proceeds with loading the next one), with each image having its own preloader?
when I click a button it loads an SWF, then when I click another button it loads another SWF into the same loader. However it appears to be loading multiple SWF's in conjuction with the amount of times I clicked a button. So say if I clicked a button 3 times it would load 4 of the same SWF's on the forth time and load them at the same time.
In a website i have 10 buttons and each of them loads an image. the image only loads into a empty movie clip as soon as i press the button.What i want to try is to start load the images as soon as i enter that page, and I want the buttons to show, only when their image is loaded. Kinda like a progressive thing.What i have to do?? send each image to a diffrent level when loading?
I have a game which has various cutscenes. Each cutscene is split up into 3 or 4 seperate swf movie files which can be played (and replayed) by the user.
My question is, I've seen many tutorials on how to load external swfs but how do I load several movie clips into memory, and then clean everything up once the user has finished viewing them all?
