Is there a really simple way of creating a Flash time/date signature? I did a couple videos in sort of a surveilance camera style. So I was hoping to do an overlay with the date and have the time going up in seconds.

I'm trying to add the time and date to a flash file I am making This is the code I have for it:

It works fine, but the time is stationary how can I make it count?
I can get the current date in actionscript using the Date() function, my question is, does it give the same timezone for everyone? When I use it, it gives me the current hour and everything for the Eastern Time Zone (Newyork), but I live in Georgia, so I am eastern timezone, will someone who lives somewhere else, like california, run the code (below) and tell me if the time flash displays is the current time they have on their computer, or if the hours are off... with that said, if it is the same, and flash doesn't give everyone on earth the same time, is there any code I can use to retrieve the current time in 1 time zone no matter where on earth I am when I use the code? So here's the post:Let me introduce myself. My name is Wisse and I have been working with Adobe products since I was a child at the age of 8 (10 years ago). Well, then it was called Macromedia Flash but you understand what I mean. I have always been using flash for making animations and small simple applications (for presentations and games) in my spare time. I also use photoshop and dreamweaver for making sites and other things. So I will soon order the new CS5 web design collection.
I have a big (biggest so far) project coming up and before I really started I thought it'd be best to orient on what Flash application(s) to use and how I will make this project. So here is the plan:I am making a dutch driving exam site where people can take practice exams for a small text message fee. The application will have to look slick and work smoothly. I made this to clarify what the application has to do.I have never worked with Flash Builder and Catalyst but I kind of like the idea of making nice looking interfaces using Catalyst and then export them to Flash Builder. But as I just said, I have never worked with Flash builder and so I don't know whether I will be able to make this on Flash Builder (due to it's complexity). Flash builder also has some nice options for accessing external data (the XML, HTTP API and PHP in this case). Catalyst's data list designer and transition animator will save a lot of time and effort when compared to doing it manually in Flash Pro. The big issue here is that I have no idea how to script the rest in Flash builder. but I want to make to be sure that Builder is the best way to go before doing so.But on the other hand, I am quite familiar with flash and that could also save time. Flash is a bit harder to use when I want to make a good UI and Flash builder wins when you look at the server communication and the debugging tools.
I am trying to program a simple chat program. I have looked all over the net for an easy to use tutorial for exchanging information between Flash 5 and a MySQL database. The reason this is so hard is because I just started PHP and MySQL last week.
A. Sending 1 line of text to a table in a MySQL database via PHP.
B. Allow flash to retrieve the latest line of text from a table.

1) How to save the date and time to the database? Based on web search result on how to find date or time in APS, I thought I could do

}), it always opens the processForm.asp file in a new window. Can it be executed in the same window or just being hidden?
The tutorial is old, and I wonder if there are new ways to do the things with CS4 or CS5?
I'm working on creating a new look for my portfolio and had a concept.I would like have one movie clip tween in real time 365 frame increments, while another moves in real time minute or second increments.Along with this, I would like to be able to override the passage of time by scrolling an associated scrollbar.The two tweens would be independent of one another.

Does an AIR app built with Flex have something similar to a browser cookie? I want the app to remember a simple value, like date when the app was last opened. I'd rather not create a SQlite database just for this.
View 1 RepliesI was thinking the other week - wouldn't it be great to have a flash clock that not only tells a classy analogue time but also, like a church clock, gives out bell noises when the hour is reached, an also chimes the number of hours the time corresponds too. So at 1pm/am it will chime once, and at midnight you get 12 chimes and so on, I'm sure you get my meaning. I'm not great when it comes to working with sound, infact I've never added much more than a custom click noise on a button. How to go about this? I've attached a nice church bell noise for y'all just incase.

I am trying to make the SIMPLEST POSSIBLE MP# player using the player component preinstalled in flash.It is very simple, the code is as follows:

This works if I want a single track to be selected and played.Now, I need it to AUTOMATICALLY LOAD THE NEXT TRACK, which I will input in the code.I am thinking something like this:

But this is not working.
PS: I know an XML file would be the best here, but I don't want to use it. I just want to enter the next track's code inside the swf.
I've got a php backend which delivers a time (e.g. '07:00:00'). This time is recognized as a string but I need it as a Date. So what I need is: Convert a string '07:00:00' to a Flex Date object. Is there a way to do this (without using regular expressions)?

View 6 RepliesI have looked around a lot for the answer to this, here and out on the web, I just can't believe it can't be done.I have certificates that the user fills in their name once they successfully pass the on-line course, this works and prints fine. The decided they wanted the current date and time to show up on the certificate for their records. The date and time displays correctly, but when you go to print the certificate you get the default numerals, not the date and time, once the print dialogue box goes away after printing, you can see it change back to correct day and time.

I'm sorry to ask such a stupid question but the documentation is not clear to me. And I really don't want to screw it up. I am creating a flash piece that needs to change its content based on the date eastern time. so that the content on monday 00:00:00 will be different than the content sunday 11:59:59. I have everything set up for local time ie:

But do to legal issues involved I need to set this up so that even if the user is in Alaska the content will change based on Eastern Standard Time.I'm sure I can use timeZoneOffset, but I'm just not sure how to implement it.
I have a map and want to be able to show the date and time on a few individual parts of the map. The date and time will display when the users roll-over the area of the map. There are about 10 different areas. Can someone tell me if that's possible.
